Damn the sound of that creature doesn't sound at all like a godzilla like creature. It sounds like one of the creatures from carpenter's the thing after its burned by the flamethrower. I like it, My only worry though is the CG, I mean if they have 30 mil can they do a realistic enough looking monster. Unless the budget estimate is wrong.

also, regarding the pod thing on EHWR...it's looks like it was made by ALIENS! Therfore, IT'S NOT CHITHULU!!!! NOT BY A LONG SHOT! IT'S THE REVAMPED VOLTRON, BABY!! VOLTRON! MATT GOODMAN, THE SCREENWRITER FOR THIS MOVIE, MUST'VE REWROTE JUSTIN MARKS' DRAFT! YAY!

Actually it's...

a giant robotic Trex named Reptar.

The QT version really brings the sexy, that roar is menacing as hell and you can really get a good look at how cool that statue of liberty shot is

Its the black cloud **** from lost, its finally got a motion picture deal

:D:up:

saw it in theaters, but im glad the QT version is up... ive wanted to rewatch it, but i couldn't stand that cam version

screw that, I want to see the monster at least once...Blair Witch was a good movie till the last 2 minutes when the camera drops and you dont even get to see a scary witch...f**k that movie, and that idea sucks :o

I loved their idea not to show the witch. Freaked me out. :(

i tend to think that this is prob like some exercise in like... low budget event movies.

so prob, no monster.

if there was some hugely expensive cgi monster, then it wouldnt be coming out in January, im guessing.

I agree,Me wants some huge beastie:cmad:

I was going to wait until I went to Transformers, but I couldn't. Now if only I could've gotten the HD version to work.

I hope they do the ermmmmm, lion's share...of the movie on handhelds. But too much of that jerkiness would wear thin, I want normal shots and I want to see the monster. If I don't, I will be forced to conclude that the Bad Robot people are great at coming up with teases (most of Lost as an example) with no real payoff.

If we don't see the moster I think it will be a disappointment to me no matter the approach no matter the atmosphere the film has. I want a huge lovecraftian monster dammit:cmad: :woot:

Much of Lovecraft's creepiness works because the biggest and nastiest of the Great Old Ones are never really seen. People encounter other people who have seen the unspeakable horrors and it's like seeing the girl in the closet near the start of the The Ring (remake). You get to wonder what the hell could have done that but without the big reveal the imagination is left to run wild. In the case of Lovecraft's characters we are likely to encounter someone tearing hair out with ones hand, scribbling incomprehensible symbols on walls with the other and babbling incoherently the whole time after having seen something. Meanwhile, we generally don't encounter the "something" ourselves.

There was a bit of that in the Lovecraft-inspired In The Mouth of Madness and it worked exceedingly well.
