I was just wondering what the general opinions were around here about Cloverfield on DVD?

I loved it in the theatre but don't know if it's worth getting on DVD to watch on a smaller screen.

Does the movie still hold up well on smaller screen viewings, or does it lose it's impact?

both are good, good thing about the dvd is that the graphics look better, so you can see things more clearly

I just saw the DVD (missed the theater showing) and I enjoyed it. I have a few questions: 1) did anyone get that the monster was a baby looking for his mother? I didn't get that until I saw the extras on the DVD. 2) People talk about a satellite waking up the monster...when was this mentioned? 3) What was the deal with the alternate endings? They all looked too similar....and the outcome of the monster was still the same. Thanks!

No, its still amazing on smaller screens.

The Director said that. It was never mentioned in the film.

Available Now: Cloverfield's ROAR!

Today, iTunes released the end credits overture from Cloverfield by Michael Giacchino. For the first time, the full length orchestral piece, entitled "ROAR!", is being made available exclusively from iTunes paralleling the release of the film for download. The film version of "ROAR!" totaled 9:45. The iTunes release finally makes available the full length, unedited piece that runs 12:15.

So, what are you waiting for...head to iTunes, build yourself a little model city and stomp the crap out of it while listening to Giacchino's work!

1) yea i caught that on the extras too
2)director
3)the alternate endings were lame, waste of time imo, and the original ending was way better cause you actually see something hitting the water

If it is the so called satellite, it comes at a angle on the right side.

1.) Yeah. Matt Reeves had revealed that the monster was a child during an interview before the film's official release.

2.) It isn't mentioned as much as having a cameo appearance toward the end of the film (actually, the end.)

3.) The ending that they did choose worked better then all of them. Sometimes they'll try and see what works with the film in tone, style.

OK I see it now. It's really small and I had to look closely. I don't think the average viewer would have caught it though. You'd have to be looking for it to see it.

In the second alternate ending on the DVD, you can see someone, when it glitches, finding the camera. They look like rescue crew.

Or, I'm just insane.

Oh, I haven't seen the dvd yet. I have it but just haven't gotten around to seeing it.

I thought Jason died?

We never saw him die. The tail hit and his body went flying. It's possible he landed (terribly injured, but liveable) in the water.

Why are we using spoiler tags? The movie has been out for about 4 months now.

Some people come into the thread, having not seen the film, asking for a reccomendation. Just don't want to spoil it for them.
