Some reports said the trailer was shot before any actual movie footage...I also read that filming has begun on the movie.

Knowing JJ this film is already shot at the next 6 months are all post and no one knows yet.

I mean... if it was all shot on hand held they could actually get away with that right?

Yeah, they've definitely got the buzz working for them with this trailer. I seriously doubt it's Voltron. You'd think they'd pump that property with as much fanfare as they possibly could instead of going this subversive route. You never know for sure with these Hollywood folks, though.

I still haven't been able to view it..at work...but it sounds amazing. Everyone that I talked to thats seen it loved it.

Personally I don't understand all the buzz for this movie. I mean, this is supposed to be some kind of low budget monster movie to be released in January (hardly a great month for movies)? It feels like Snakes on a Plane all over again.

I LOVE low budget horror films myself, that is why I'm excited.

As for everyone else, maybe it's that Bad Robot and JJ Abrams are involved. That alone gets lots of attention it seems.

I kinda agree. The teaser annoyed me more than it got me excited.

For a teaser it did exactly that. Teased. Everyone in the theater I was in was 'oohing' and 'aahing'. Defiantly sparked my interest. Love JJ. I'm a huge Alias fan.

what if the movie is called "1-18-08". and that is the day that this happens on. becuase at that site the date on the picture says 1/18/08 12:36A. and that would make sense seeing as its at a party and parties usually last til way past midnight. so maybe the movies real name is "1-18-08" and is gonna be released on 1-18-08. any thoughts?

They will probably try to keep the "monster" a secret just like War of the Worlds did with the aliens.

Yeah it did sound like Godzilla. But I'm not really that excited. We've seen the concept a thousand times before. Hopefully this one will put a cool spin on things but I don't see it being a huge blockbuster with a release date of January.

Releasing it as a time that isn't generally a booming time for cinema is a smart move, it means less competition.

And we're usually missing the whole big monster/disaster movies in the winter. Usually smaller lower budget action movies are released around that time.
I'd take a huge monster action pic over a Underworld clone or crappy superhero film any time of the year.

The trailer got everyone attention in our theater. They showed Simpsons, Larry and Chuck, Rush Hour 3, and then the last one was that and when it was over, there was confusion in the room. Which is good and bad. I kept thinking, "I didn't know Godzilla was being made again"

Finally got to view it and I really enjoyed it. I loved the way it was shot and the whole setting of it. I also like the use of unknowns, seems more authentic and real. Hopefully we get a clearer version soon
