we're just reviewing the house rules, getting the regulars organized for the time when things starts picking back up again.

As Keyser Soze said, all it's doing it trying to make us remember to uphold standards of civility - just cos some people want to whine about this doesn't invalidate it. I'm gonna stick aorund, I'm the eternal optimist.

I'm not saying the principles aren't good. Hell, it's a great idea. I just don't think it will work in practice, because the only real power you have is the Report Post button.

i dont know how it works in the Mod/Admin Chambers here at SHH (Hunter just correct me if i'm wrong ok?), but the "Report Post to Mod" button works both ways. yeah sure its primarily used to complain about posts that a member considers offensive, but you overdo that it can work against you. happened in my other forum where the complainer is just an unfair, oversensitive jerk. we wound up monitoring him instead. wound up with a banning IIRC.

thats why there is a purpose in identifying yourself in this thread. kinda helps the Mod differentiate if you're just helping out with keeping the atmosphere civil or if you're just well...a jerk.

Yeah, that's definitely the case. If you report every little thing, the mods don't really appreciate that, and then you get the consequences.

But I think that Hunter or C. Lee or SHH! or whatever mod recieves the report should be able to differentiate between those who are trying to keep civil and those who are just aggravating things. They're smart people.

IMO, there was a definite deterioration in relations after the first Joker pic appeared. It led to one valued poster leaving with no sogn of their return so far. I don't hang out enough on the other forums to know how this compares or not.
Just trying to get back to basics and not let things get worse.

IIRC, she left just before the pic was released, in anticipation of what the reaction to it would be.

You're spot on,if a user continuously reports things that are clearly nothing but a personal dislike of another poster or simply petty then that person gets the report turned round on them,like the boy that cried wolf.

As for those asking how bad the situation has been here,are you here every day regular seeing all the anger and flames that i have had reported to me ? nope,it's not as bad as the Superman suit reveal that is for sure but on that occasion there was 3 Global mods in that section almost all the time.

Here in The Joker aftermath and with the new forum mod policy ALL reports go to me and i have on some occasions needed to get someone such as C Lee or LS to hand out stiffer punishments as my "powers" are less than there's,so basically having a group of responsible posters of differing views coming together as somewhat of a "neighbourhood watch" needn't be a bad thing.merely a helpful one.
