Comic Quotes

I'm sure this has probably already been done but it's been a long day and I havent the energy to trawl through loads of posts:_

Superman to Mongul as he blasts him with heat vision: "Burn".

Absolutely Love that.

That was in one of the comics too? I remember seeing that in the JL episode "For the Man that has Everything". But still a cool quote.

I know what you mean about the first sentence you said. I am pretty sure the Harvey quote I posted above could have been done alreayd....but I do not feel like reading every post on every page before posting.

Yeah - that episode was based off Superman annual #5 'for the man who has everything'.

I got such a kick out of watching the cartoon version of that story and was especially awaiting to see if they had Supes say "burn".

Obviously they did, and I was very happy. lol.

Was nice to see Superman act differently in that episode. In the other JL episodes he is such a boyscout at times.

Uh, tell me about it - he's always getting slapped around too easy as well. It was certainly good to see him cut-loose against Darkseid!!

Was cool when he was beating him into the rock wall and was all like "Have you got any idea what I have lost?! What I've--".

Superman with rage makes fan a happy one. :)

Too true.

I do not read the Superman comics really but I got a question...is he more like a boyscout in his own issues too? Or what.

To be honest, no.

I find that he's a bit too good in the JL cartoon. In the comics he can be pretty bad-ass when he wants to be. Thats why the bit in Superman Annual #5 sticks in my memory - its a moment were Supes genuinely lets loose.

*Green Arrow saves The Question from some mob hitmen*

The Question: Well well, the cavalry arrives. Only you look more like the indians.

Green Arrow: Personally, I like to think of myself as a modern Robin Hood.

Hitman 1: You shot us with...ARROWS!

Hitman 2: That...that is...CRUEL!

*The Question is tied up*

The Question: Hey, cut me loose. Then do your Florence Nightingale number.

Green Arrow: No.

The Question: Why not?

Green Arrow: 'Cause I don't know who you are.

The Question: I'm the guy the bad guys with guns were about to kill, remember?

Green Arrow: Doesn't make you a good guy. Punks are always offing punks. Besides, mother told me never to trust someone without a face.

The Question: Whereas model citizens always go around wearing masks.

Green Arrow: It keeps my beard company.

Green Arrow: Think of it like this: Somewhere in the world, there's a kid; Itallian, Chinese, American, Israeli, Polish, Norwegian, Russian, Irani, even Eskimo, maybe even Bedouin. Whatever. This kid, whoever he is, whatever he is, might grow up and cure cancer, or end the arms race, or tell people what all religions are really about. Or just become a hell of a nice guy. He deserves the chance. He shouldn't be denied his potential just because some fanatic has a cause and a gun.

That reminds me, is Ollie's ID secet? You'd think the distinctive facial hair would give him away.

Of course I can't see you. I can't hear you, either.
- Arion, speaking to Tim Hunter.

I claim neither a name or a title, although I hope one day, perhaps, you will call me friend. Until that time I must remain a stranger.
- The Phantom Stranger

Now about the art itself. About magic... I think I speak with some authority. By means of magic I have lived for many...millions...of years. And I've had the time to do a great deal of thinking. And what I think is this. The whole thing is a crock of dirt. Not worth the price I paid. Not for one second.
- Arion (or at least he's implied to be)

Famous last words, kiddo. Mine were: "Gee, from up here it almost looks like that guy with the hook's holding a rifle..."
- Deadman

It's not black magic versus white magic. I tend to think of it as live magic versus dead magic. But even that's simple dualism... additionally, magic, even dark magic isn't Satanism — although I've dealt with the odd devil in my time. Magic is about power. It's seeing through the shadows to the real world beyond.

Well, it's not really secret or public. I mean, it's technically secret, but he doesn't seem to care if anyone knows or not. And really, the beard wouldn't be that huge of a give away. I mean, not many people would know that a guy named Ollie Queen has a beard like that.

I stopped reading GA when it became about assasin dwarves and talking sound effects. Or, at least sometime before Drakon, whom I cannot stop hearing about, showed up. I'd assumed that Ollie was affluent ad social still. It's like if Batman grew a beard like that. People know Bruce Wayne; Someone would make the connection.

Dude, you don't like Drakon or Onomatopoeia? Those are two of the best damn villains that's been created in the last ten years.

I know. I was joking. They sound stupid when it comes down to it, though.
I love onomatopoeia. That one cover he was on? SNAP.

Oh, and guessing from the green arrow he is breaking he is an enemy of Green Arrow? =P

My favorite passage from my favorite chapter of Watchmen:

The photograph is in my hand. It is the photograph of a man and a woman. They are at an amusement park in 1959. In twelve seconds time, I drop the photograph to the sand at my feet, walking away. It’s already lying there, twelve seconds into the future. Ten seconds now.

The photograph is still in my hand. I found it in a derelict bar at the Gila Flats Test Base, twenty-seven hours ago. It’s still there, twenty-seven hours into the past, in its frame, in the darkened bar. I’m still there looking at it. The photograph is in my hand. The woman takes a piece of popcorn between her thumb and forefinger. The ferris wheel pauses. Seven seconds now.

It’s October 1985. I’m on Mars. It’s July, 1959. I’m in New Jersey, at the Palisades Amusement Park. Four Seconds. Three.

I’m tired of looking at the photograph now. I open my fingers. It falls to my feet. I am going to look at the stars. They are so far away, and their light takes so long to reach us…

All we ever see of stars are their old photographs.

Clark Kent: Luthor....you're finished.

Lex Luthor: I'm never finished.

I dont remember the exact quote but it went something along the lines of

"Alright thats it! This is where one slightly soggy Spiderman beats the crap out of a whole bunch of you X-Men!"

Which he then promptly did.
