Conan - Part 1

Conan is a character from book that marvel made comics of and then the rights went to Dark Horse, but this is a film based on a books character not a comic book character.

Conan was written by Robert E. Howard in 1932 via a series of fantasy stories sold to Weird Tales magazine.

I already know that, even before, by the way weird tales doesn't belong to marvel, but his first story was in a marvel ouned magazine.

There's no buzz because there's been no promotion for it.

Hmm? No promotion? Well, there's already been 2 theatrical trailers, 3 tv spots, a red-band trailer, 2 posters and 5 that are to be shown if they are not already. The film still has 1 month and a half till' release day.

...and as for no star power, let's all remember "300" and "District 9".

Oh my gosh those are all so gorgeous! I really hope this is a good to great movie because if the production design looks so great I would hope the rest of the movie is up to par as well.

The design certainly looks on par with the quality of "Troy".

What? No. Timely Comics (aka Marvel Comics) started in 1939. First Conan story was published in 1932.

Like the pics. I think the designs look as if they come from the distant past of the recent "Solomon Kane" movie, which I really liked. The brigand types certainly look similar.

I just happened to see the new trailer for the new Conan movie and wondered why I hear absolutely no buzz around it. Anyone have any info on it? I know they have the dude that played Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones as Conan but other then that I'm clueless. I used to collect all the Marvel Conan comics as a kid so I am pleased to see it back on the big screen
