LOCATION:

Ego, the Living Planet:

Known Superhuman Powers: The living planet Ego has been called a "bioverse." Every part of its substance, including its atmosphere, is "alive" inasmuch as it is animated and controlled by the consciousness of Ego. The exact composition of Ego is unknown, but much of the planet's surface, at least, seems to be composed of organic molecules. The planet possesses various internal features which have analogues to parts of living Earth-based organisms. For example, its interior contains tunnels which have been compared to arteries, and the center of Ego's consciousness resides in a brain-like organ deep below its surface. Ego can absorb humanoid-sized living beings into itself and "digest" them in internal areas similar to an Earth beings stomach, using its own analogues to digestive fluids. Just as an Earth organism creates one-celled antibodies to attack foreign substances in its bloodstream, Ego creates humanoid sized anti-body like beings from itself to attack intruders on or beneath its surface. In its encounters with humanoids, Ego has caused the "antibodies" to take semi humanoid form.
Ego generates vast psionic energies which, at their peak, rival those of Galactus. If Ego depletes its energy below a level that it can replenish by itself, it can help renew its energy stories by tapping outside sources, like stars, or absorbing the life forces of large numbers of living beings. At full strength Ego can use its psionic energy to obliterate starships. Ego can also control its own substance psychically. Thus Ego can transform its own surface to resemble a gigantic face, to reach out into space with gigantic tendrils, or to become an idyllic world resembling the most beautiful areas of Earth. Ego can create humanoid beings with great powers out of its own surface and, it claims, command them across interstellar distances. Ego communicates with other beings telepathically.
Ego has used Its great psionic powers to command the immensely powerful sidereal propulsion unit installed at its south pole by Galactus. The unit can propel Ego in and out of hyperspace at vast speeds, and apparently has virtually inexhaustible power.
Limitations: For unknown reasons, Ego is apparently unable to remove the sidereal propulsion unit embedded in its south pole.
Ego's control over its own atmosphere is apparently no match for the power that the thunder god Thor can wield over it using the mystical powers of his enchanted hammer.

(There are lots of websites devoted to Ego. For this battle, Ego will not get involved UNLESS you do something to him to cause him pain. For example, if my character, Terrax, was in this battle, he would have tried to use the planet as a source for fighting War Machine. The problem would have been that Terrax would then be fighting War Machine AND Ego. So, take this into consideration of your character's actions.)

vs.

Wither (AHURA MAZDA) bio

th_wither.jpg

Very interesting match, but ultimately Wither is at an extreme disadvantage, not only power-wise, but mainly because of the location.

First off let's get powers out of the way.

Hydro-man can turn his body into water, and can control water in his vicinity, Control can range form turning into it and making constructs, to shooting jets of water at very high speeds (like water bullets). His biggest con is that he is pretty much just a brute and, while powerful, is usually outsmarted by Spider-man.

Wither decays and eventually kills anything organic that he comes into contact with. Much like Rogue, he can't control his powers and turn them off.

As for prep time, I don't nkow if either would have an advantage. I will admit that hydro-man probably wouldn't get any info on Wither, but it doesn't really matter since he is kind of a one-trick pny and his strategy would be the same no matter what.

Now I am not sure Wither would be able to get any info either. As far as I know, he isn't a member of the New Mutrants/Hellions anymore and after M-Day is just living in Mutant Town.

Now as for the fight, Hydro-man would instantly seek a source of water, and even though Ego is an alien planet, is is concievable that he would have some sort of water on him.

Meanwhile, Wither would be dead. That's right, dead. Every single part of the planet is a part of Ego, and if Wither touches any part of him, he will start to decay and kill a part of Ego. And it's not like Wither is stupid or anything, but he can't help it. He can't turn off his powers, he has no choice but to hurt Ego unless he literally stands in one place and never moves. Unfortunately for Wither, a good strategy for this battle isn't to piss of the living planet you are on. Ego would be pissed that Wither is killing a part of him and either send in his antibodies to kill him, or just dfestroy him with one of his psionic attacks.

Best case scenario for Wither is that Ego doesn't kill him but that Wither is able to fight him off for a time in which Hydro-man would just step in and hit Wither with a high propulsion water jet either killing him or at least knocking him out.

It's unfortunate, but Wither is outmatched because he will have to fight off Ego and Hydro-man.

Winner- Hydro-man

Fusion vs. Wild Thing

Fusion won't find information on Wild Thing since she hasn't been born yet. And Wild Thing probably won't find much on Fusion.

Fusion is at a great advantage because he can make Wild Thing see and do anything he wants her to. Everything from chasing a fake Fusion over the edge of a cliff she can't see, to wasting her energy fighting a tree she thinks is Fusion.

And a nice side-effect of the second option is that Wild Thing would be attacking Ego himself. Bringing the planet's wrath down on top of her.

Fusion can have Wild Thing chasing ghosts all day long while he stays safely away. He could probably even use that device of his, detonating it next to Wild Thing.

Fusion wins

Hydro-Man Vs Wither

Okay, so I'm standing in for Ahura to debate his match, see the Discussion thread for the reason. I will be posting a scenerio, but will not defend it, as Ahura wouldn't have been around to defend it (unless Ahura gets back in time to defend this one, then he's free to try).

That said, this is a very difficult match for Ahura to win, but I'll do my best.

Neither character would know anything about the other, and neither would have any information on Ego. That said, it's down to character vs character. They would get to the planet, and would begin looking for one another. Wither's powers could potentially do damage to Ego, but fortunately he wears full body clothing save for his head, so he won't hurt it. Hydroman needs a source of water. I don't know if Ego has water or not, but I'd assume he does, however, Hydroman needs to find it, and Ego's a big planet, and Hydroman doesn't have a map.

Wither's touch destroys organic things, and he is reluctant to use it, however, he isn't against it. He's used it before, and liked it, but he's afraid to kill people. Put him in a dangerous situation though, and he will use it. Wither only has two chances. He can learn easily from Hydroman's name that he's water, and if he justifies touching him, feeling that since he's a water character his touch won't kill him, then he can win it. Basically, Hydroman is still organic when he isn't in water form, so Wither's touch would work. Wither wouldn't just go out of his way to touch Hydroman, but put him in a horrible situation where he's about to die or go down, and he'll reach out and touch somebody. If he can surprise Hydroman and touch him while in half water form, Hydroman's organic form will deteriate into water and Wither will win. Hydroman's no genious, so it shouldn't be hard to get to that point. And if Hydroman can't find a watersource, then all the better for Wither.

Wither can also win by mistake. If Hydroman engages him and Wither ends up accidently touching Ego, the planet will go mad and attack them both. Hydroman is water so Ego could just suck him up, absorbing him, while Wither deteriates Ego's every assault, making Wither last longer and win.

That's all I could think of for Wither. It's up to the VOters to decide Ahura's fate.

Winner - Wither

X-Cutioner vs Hawkeye

Both characters can probably dig up info on the other but, as good as Hawkeye is at his job, he's outmatched in this battle.

Hawkeye is an beyond an expert marksman with an array of arrows of different types and abilities. But they'll all be pretty ineffective against Carl who has a clocking device to stay out of Clint's aim, and a forcefield to protect him from any strikes on top of his advanced armor. And even if things get really bad for Carl, he can just teleport away and come back at a Hawkeye who is now short several arrows. And it probably won't get bad because Carl has a phasing unit to keep him nice and safe.

X-cutioner is also powerful offensively. He has a psi-lance that can seriously damage whatever it blasts. Carl has a laser sword for closer combat. And Carl is used to hunting far more powerful and dangerous game than Hawkeye. Even if Hawkeye tries to hide and attack with stealth, Carl's advanced alien sensors will likely pick Clint up with no problem.

X-Cutioner wins

Rebuttal

NOTE: I am going to rebutt this, because I am pretty sure I can, but if Phaed or Jewhob say I can't rebutt since Ahura's not here, then I will take it down.

He doesn't really need the water as much as people might think. If he overuses his powers, then he might need water, but he has shown the ability todrawn nearby water towards him, so he doesn't really need to find it even, he can just draw it towards himself. He has even drawn the water out of people before, so he could concieveably do this to Wither making him actually "wither" away (the irony is delicious).

Actually he isn't. Here is a quote from Marvel Directory:

even in its solid state when it appears to be made of flesh, tissue, and bone; the Hydro-Man's body is no longer truly organic
This shows that Wither pretty much can't harm Hydro-man at all, even if he could get close to him.

That being said, Hydro-man loves to use long range water attacks that would not only seriously hurt Wither, but also shred his clothes, exposing more of him to Ego.

Wither can also win by mistake. If Hydroman engages him and Wither ends up accidently touching Ego, the planet will go mad and attack them both. Hydroman is water so Ego could just suck him up, absorbing him, while Wither deteriates Ego's every assault, making Wither last longer and win.
Ego is an incredibly smart planet though that is quite used to having things live on it. If Ego was hurt by Wither, Ego would only attack Wither, not both of them. This is especially true once Ego sees his antibodies being destroyed by Wither, in which case Ego will then just use his vast psionic attack on him effectively knocking him out or even killing him.

Winner- Hydro-man

FUSION vs. WILD THING

Let's not forget who WT is: the daughter of WOLVERINE. What's that mean? That means she's got ALL of daddy's powers in spades, plus with Elektra for a mother that means she's combat trained several times over, and essentially no dummy when it comes to a fight. Her psychic claws also affect a foe on a mental level, and with some concentration, the physical one as well.

Basically, you can forget about Fusions illusions. With a psychic for a godmother and the enhanced senses of an animal, there's no way the illusions could affect her for long, if at all. Also, her only interactions with the environment would be to use them as cover to stealthily sneak up on Fusion and attack him when he leasts suspects it, while Fusions explosive powers could bring the wrath of Ego down on him.

Also, let's not forget the forgotten super strength (she threw a car at Juggernaut in an issue of J2) which can also help her peel his fancy suit off like a grape and easily give a dose of pyschic blade straight to the human inside's head. (Not that they couldn't penetrate his armor as well...it's not psychic proof as far as I can see)

WINNER: WILD THING

Voting May Begin!

(Remember, you must read through all of this weeks debates before voting. The debates should be the largest percentage of reason for the way you vote; but, they do not have to be the sole reason for your decision.)

*Wild Thing - (Being able to truly sense if an illusion is real won me over.)

*X-Cutioner

*Lord Templar - (Templar would wipe Hulkling all over the map. If he wins, whoever gets awarded this character after he's handed out next round is going to have a contender to take this season's title.)

*Hydro-Man

Fusion
X-Cutioner
Lord Templar
Hydroman (poor Wither)

Hydro-man

X-Cutioner - he just has too many things going for him to lose as opposed to Hawkeye.

Lord Templar

Wild Thing- While Fusion might be able to trick her fora while, he won't know about her ridiculous helaing factor, so when he tries to knock her out/kill her he's in for a surprise, and by then she'll have figured his attacks out.

Fusion
Hydroman (Difficult because I really like WIther)
X-Cutioner
Ummmm Hulkling

What's with all these battles without either contestant debating.

What's with all these battles without either contestant debating.

Well, many of them are owned by Powderman or Trigger, who haven't debated for quite a while. Then, Ahura and Hippy are away this week; but, should be back next week. That actually takes up a lot of the matches for this week.

Results So Far:

Fusion currently beating Wild Thing 4-2
X-Cutioner currently beating Hawkeye 6-0
Lord Templar currently beating Hulkling 5-1
Hydro-Man currently beating Wither 6-0

Fusion
Hydroman - Thanks to JH for posting an opening. I did not think whither could win as Hydroman can become inorganic by changing into water. therfore I was proposing mutual suicide by causing damage to Ego where Hydroman was present, obvioulsy a losing strategy.
X-Cutioner
Lord Templar
