I agree. He's always been my favorite... in the comics, the animated series, and the movies...

It's tragic that such a great character has been brushed to the side in the films. I think it would have been great to see him butt heads with Wolverine more. Their little digs at each other in the first film were priceless.

Box Office Mojo: Corny Collins in Hairspray is your first musical role since you played Hugo Peabody in a high school production of Bye Bye Birdie. What's the easiest part of being in a musical?

James Marsden: It's probably easier to answer what the hardest part is—there are so many easy things about it, for me anyway. When you throw yourself into a musical like Hairspray, [you get that] sort of high energy, colorful [show] with ridiculous costumes and I find the more extreme you take it, the easier it is. If you're singing and dancing, it gives you less time to be neurotic about the acting. Maybe it's because I was so excited to finally do a musical that I enjoyed every minute of it. On every job I've ever done, like with the cast from X-Men, the actors were always saying [to me]: 'when are we going get you on stage doing a musical or something?' I remember Hugh Jackman saying, 'mate, you've got to do a musical.' He actually wanted me to play his love interest in [the Broadway musical] Boy from Oz and there was a scheduling conflict or something. But I would have loved to have done it.

At the TV station is The Corny Collins Show, the girls' favorite. One of the real surprises of the film is James Marsden, as Corny, who can actually sing and dance a bit. (The producers of Xanadu should be calling him to fill in for the show's make lead as soon as possible.)

Unfortunately, Cyclops faced Jean and blasted her in X2.

The movies have played out the Phoenix Saga very differently from the comics. In the comics, Jean is evolved by radiation (or that's when the Phoenix comes to her, depending on which story/retcon), the shuttle crashes into water and she immediately re-emerges from the lake as Phoenix. After she later dies, grief-stricken Cyclops leaves the team. Years later, the real Jean is found under the water and comes back at normal power levels.

It didn't happen that way in the movies. We had radiation at the end of X1, we had an aircraft and water at the end of X2, then Cyclops' grief then Jean coming from the lake as Phoenix in X3.

For Cyclops to face/battle Jean in X3, and for Cyclops to be alive and grief-stricken afterwards, would be a repeat of the end of X2.

Why is it assumed Scott would run in there Blasting away?

The scenario is different the stakes are higher and the time setting in story in at the end. I disagree IMO Scott facing Jean wouldn't have been a repeat of X2.

And if it was what does it matter? If a story is well told who cares if it's premise is similar to a past one.

Of course that's just how I Feel.
