Daniel Craig confirmed as new James Bond

I guess we're forgetting about Pierce Brosnan's liver spots in Die Another Day

Yeah, that's a really mature way to make a decision.

The look of Bond is a big part of who the character is

I'm taking this with a truckload of salt for now...Bond news has been fluctuating so much recently that I won't buy anything until absolute confirmation.

Goran would have been a better look

He is not British...he can' play James Bond: his mothertongue isn't even English!

Unfortunetly Craig has been cast as 'the best they could do.' With Moore, Dalton and Brosnan, they were all hunted for years to play the Bond role (decades in Dalton's case). Craig has been cast because they couldn't find anyone else. No offense to him, he could be great, but apart from Bale, none of today's actors scream 007.

Agreed. Cmpare to the other contenders, Craig is the lesser evil. But I am very skeptical...

Yeah, it's certainly been enough to make the last couple of Bonds perfect

Maybe they threw out the name to test the waters, see what kind of fan reaction his name would recieve.

Personally, of all the candidates, I wouldn't have picked Daniel Craig. There is something about him that personally doesn't jive with me. That's not saying he won't make a good 'James Bond' but I don't think I can even watch Casino Royale anymore with an unbiased opinion.

And that's putting it politely. Another part of me is saying, "That's the f%$@#* guy who is going to replace Pierce Brosnan, are you kidding me?"

That's reassuring a bit. I just hope they don't take a rushed decision... I'll rather wait to have a solid Bond movie instead of rushing to see another DAD-like turkey.

And am the only one tod ream when I read this?:

"If it's not Daniel Craig, it will be someone the public doesn't know," he said. "They did this with Sean Connery originally. Roger Moore was the only (Bond) actor who came in with any stature in the film industry."

An unknown actor, that would be great...

Everyman, you are right, an unknown would probably be the way to go. It's a weird sort of irony, the best man to portray Bond, Pierce Brosnan is not going to play him. But there they are screen testing actor's probably saying, "well this guy isn't as bad as the other guy," rather than saying, "wow, this guy is James Bond."

I wonder what this Bond will turn out like. I will give the guy a chance anyway. Not someone I would have picked.

Connery was 32 when he first did Bond and he was NOT almost bald at all.

Yes he was!... :O

From IMDB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wears a toupee in all the James Bond movies. He started losing his hair at the age of 21. Privately and in most other movies, he wears none.

He's just not Bond....

His screen Test must have been awesome.

Well this guy isn't bond. Yes, he has blue eyes but... he's simply not Bond for me.
First Clive Owen was a contender. Why not.
Then they wanted a near 30 Bond. Well, there's only one guy in this age that IS bond in my mind... Christian Bale
And then they cast this 37 years old guy. Well, it doesn't make sense to me...

Well, as an explanation Goran nor cavill ( a croatian and a 22 years old guy ??? wtf ??? ) nor the other contender from bana ( it was hopefully a false news ) to McMahon aren't Bond.

Why didn't they keep brosnan for a last movie in that case ???

I've the strange feeling that Craig IS the new Lazenby... ( you know what i mean... )

So, you havent seen Layer cake, and yet all you do is go on as though that is the only role that Craig has ever played, constantly calling him an Ugly Cockney Thug.

Well, just to point out a couple of things:

1)His character in layer Cake is not a cockney. In fact, he is upper-Middle class. Well spoken, and obviously educated.

2)His role as a college professor in "Archangel" wasnt exactly a cockney thug either.

3) Craig's breakthrough role was a character called GEORDIE, in "Our friends in the NORTH.". sounds like a cockney to me.

4) So he has none of the necessary abilities or qualities to play bond? you mean like the scottish milkman, who had to be taught to walk differently in order to play him? he sounded like an upper class, eton educated debonair spy, didnt he?

Craig isnt the best looking guy on the planet by a long shot.Hell, i would argue he is better looking than Roger "eyebrows" Moore, but in a different way But when playing a dashing, debonair spy, ruggedly good looking is more than enough. ask any woman that.Debonair is about how you carry yourself. So is being dashing.

and funnily enough , out of the four names that were being spoken about he isnt the one i would have picked. But that doeant make him a poor choice, IMO.

IMDB chat a load of crap at times. Provide another reputable source.

Craig as Bond...I don't see it. Doesn't have the look.

I have a Bond book that says that he was B.A.L.D...

Connery had a toupee in every bond film.

He wore a toupee in all his Bond films. And he started going bald at 18.

he was actually 21 but whatever...:O

Superficial it may be, but Craig needs to dye his hair to stand any chance of being accepted by the public.
