Marvel/Disney will never go there. Regardless of the medium or rating, they want 10 year olds watching their product and begging their parents to buy merch based on those products. The fact that the shows are connected to the greater MCU and have the Marvel label pasted all over them means there will be restrictions, especially when it comes to sexuality.

Although, if they do the Karen Page storyline where she sells DD's identity to the Kingpin, should they show anything if she turns to porn/ prostitution? Is that too dark even for this show? But if it's TV-MA, is anything too dark?

They're definitely not going to show anything to do with porn, but you can hint at the prostitution angle without using any graphic imagery or language. I think we'll get that story arc eventually depending on how well received this season is, but I'm not expecting it first time round.

Well they could probably hint at both without showing anything. They do that in CSI all the time. These victims somehow get caught up in one or the other and sometimes the CSIs are reviewing footage which shows nothing explicit.

In the CSI: Cyber spin-off episode, there was a sex chat scam which a suspect was caught up in, and the CSIs were analysing the porn site and the woman purporting to be on the other end of the chat. They managed to not show anything (apart from a woman in lingerie) but still dealt with the theme. I'm sure they could do the same on DD.

He was Jigsaw in the last Punisher movie so I think it is unlikely he will be recast as the Punisher.

Liev Schreiber, Jon Bernthal, Richard Armitage and Sullivan Stapleton all seem like good Punisher choices

Armitage already was Heinz Kruger in the first Captain America movie so I'd say he's out of the running. Maybe if it had been a non-MCU role then sure, why not since Evans was Torch and Cap and that worked out great. But I doubt Armitage ever does another live action role in the MCU. He maybe could do a Bradley Cooper/Vin Diesel thing and act a motion capture character maybe. I think those are still viable, but I bet another live action role is out. Otherwise people are going to be saying "Hey Frank Castle...didn't you kill Dr. Erskine?" or "Hey Frank, you look good for a guy who's nearly a hundred". :hehe:

There's a lot content-wise you can get away with when you get creative.

You know. I'm really sad that people's greatest experience with Daredevil is the Hulk crossover...

Well to be honest I'd say these days they'd cite the Affleck movie more than the Trial of the Incredible Hulk. And Thor once had this issue as well. I'm sure the Netflix series will change things for the character.

I have never been a DD fan but I am a huge Hulk fan so that's how it worked out for me. Though to be honest I was already aware of DD since I read the comics more than followed the Hulk show and as you know, all you really need is to follow one or two characters in the Marvel U and eventually you'll get a taste of every other IP they have eventually.

I'm a little surprised how many people haven't seen Affleck Daredevil. Seems like every day someones in here asking about it.

I bet even less have seen the 2nd Hulk TV movie. But yeah, I guess we shouldn't be surprised that most skipped Affleck's DD movie. It's not like it made a billion $ or anything. I'd say most that remember it at all are superhero afficionados like the ones that would actually go out of their way to be on a SH message board or make youtube reviews about these things. The regular Jane's/Joe's have forgotten Affleck's DD movie completely.

After this Netflix series, the Affleck film will be wiped from people's memories. The only DD people will remember for years to come will be

Rex Smith. :oldrazz:

if the show delivers, and it seems it will, it could really change people's view of DD.

Or they could read the comic, which would probably do that too ;)

ETA: On the debate, I'm still skeptical of it being TV-MA. The comments suggested are that it'll be toned down compared both to Steven DeKnight's usual work and Netflix's usual programming. I do think it'll be violent, but I think you can get violence on TV-14. I don't expect the language or nudity usually associated with TV-MA.

I wouldn't be surprised if it gets a TV-MA. If the violence is intense it could get it.

Agreed. And it's strange that this will be the first time I've ever rooted against language and nudity in my programming. I'm becoming like the rest of my Puritanical countrymen. Aaaaahhh!!! Hopefully, it's just the fatherhood aspect though. I want my kids to be able to watch ALL of the MCU some day. I know the violence aspect makes me a hypocrite but there it is.

I personally prefer tv shows to be really violent, but yeah I was hoping to watch this with my little brother, and he's 9. I'll just have to watch it with him in a couple years. I guess it also depends on how bad it is too. I'm pretty sure he can handle a little blood like in the trailer, but if it gets any worse than that i'll wait before I watch it with him.

How old are your kids? Personally I'm hoping this will be the most adult-friendly Marvel property yet, and truth be told I think that's what we're going to get. But I hope your children are also able to enjoy it when it does come out.

I've seen the trailer about 100 times already, and I've noticed that its considerably brighter on Netflix's player. On YouTube though its pitch black.

So if you guys want to see it better you should watch it on Netflix. Preferably on an HD television.

Yeah, I did remark about it seeming dark(and I'm not referring to the tone) when I saw it on youtube. In fact it was the only real criticism I had for the teaser.

Yeah, I think thats only on youtube, because on Netflix I can see it perfectly. Its most noticeable in the shot of the glasses, and the shot of Claire Temple.

I must be out of my mind because I recently watched The Trial of the Incredible Hulk and I actually really liked it. I especially liked the guy who played Matt Murdock. Yes, the costume was crap, yes it was VERY cheesy and outdated at times. However, it just had this...charm that really connected with me and I really got into it and enjoyed it. Maybe its because I'm a 90s kid. Am I alone?

Rex Smith and John Rhys Davies will ultimately be considered the definitive Daredevil and Wilson Fisk. :p

Hopefully Age of Ultron will adopt Banner's disappearing beard trick for Mark Ruffalo.

I'm thinking in the end it's more likely to be TV-14 than TV-MA. Steven DeKnight has talked about how it's darker than other Marvel stuff, but not Spartacus-level violent.

She was almost so dark that you'd miss her completely.

I believe it's the best of the 3 Hulk TV movies. The scene where Banner Hulk's out in the courtroom is awesome.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. When I watched it on my tv in Netflix, I could see her perfectly.
