Daredevil Daredevil General Discussion Thread - Part 5

It in no way mentions Agents of SHIELD, so that's basically a moot point. It takes place when it was released, so after Avengers. Watching it in the middle of both seasons of SHIELD or after the second season won't affect anything.

So basically I could put it anywhere on the timeline between Avengers and Avengers: AOU?

I might be anticipating this more than Civil War. Not quite sure yet.
Once some trailers drop I'll know for sure. Any idea when this will be released? I'm assuming next Spring.

Yes Netflix keep their skeds pretty consistent likely April next year.

I have a question for everyone. Where on the MCU timeline does this take place? I've heard two theories. The first is that it takes place after the First Avengers film. The second is that it takes place between the first and second seasons of Agents Of Shield?

I haven't watched DareDevil yet, but I would like to get an idea where it's place since I'm making my own MCU timeline that I'm comfortable with.
Season one of Daredevil takes place after season one of Agents of SHIELD. There's a brief glimpse of a newspaper headline referring to the aftermath of events that occurred in AoS' first season finale.

It doesn't necessarily take place before the start of season two of Agents of SHIELD, though. It just ends before Age of Ultron.

Like others have indicated. All we've been told officially is that it's after the first Avengers film but before the events of Age of Ultron.

For me, personally, since the majority of the Phase 2 films have taken place 'when they came out' (IM3 is an exception, not sure yet if Ant-Man will also be an exception), I like to kind of keep it that way with Daredevil. Have the last episode/season finale probably happening roughly when the series was released on Netflix (beginning of April about a month before the events of Ultron go down) and then the previous episodes all filter in before then for a couple/few months (intermingling, somewhat, with at least the back half of season 2 of AOS) with some of the episodes happening more immediately next to each other than others (i.e. episodes 9 & 10 are pretty much back to back)

That's just my personal take on it though/what works for me

One indication is that the final episode of DD takes place during winter, as the characters have more winter-clothing than previously, so I would put everything before that in autumn.

It would be cool if they introduced Felicia Hardy here in an episode or two where there's a case with her father The Cat on trial and there should be a connection to Kingpin, sort of an origin for her here before appearing in the MCU.

Kinda sucks there was no DD presence at comic-con but I guess it clashes with their shooting schedule.

"Outstanding Special Visual Effects In A Supporting Role"

good interview. it's quite possible we might have another fan war on our hands - MCU vs MCNU - marvel cinematic universe vs. marvel cinematic netflix universe.

netflix just lends to better comic to video translation.

Main title design ought to win it. Seen the thing probably 50 times and still refuse to skip it.

Yeah, that had me scratching my head as well so I went digging...according to: http://shootonline.com/news/road-emmy-part-3-nominees-assess-revamped-vfx-categories

...the Emmy category Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Supporting Role honors the overall achievement of VFX in programs where those effects are used on a more modest scale, play a supporting role contributing to the storytelling, and are often photorealistic and invisible to the viewer. A supporting role may include set extensions (the creation, enhancement or augmentation of a practical location or physical set), sky replacements, atmospheric phenomenon, scientific visualizations, crowd replication, fire, smoke, elemental enhancement, and similar effects. Such effects are used more sparingly to help create the setting, environment or mood of a given scene, or to illustrate a scientific principle--but the program does not absolutely require the use of special visual effects to tell the story.

Hell you could argue for Charlie too. Has anything superhero-related ever won an Emmy? It must have chapped their asses to give it this much.

Am I the only person who wishes that this show wasn't set in the MCU? It has such a different tone that it would make far more sense for it to be a totally separate thing.

Are you the only person? Probably not. There are 7 Billion people. That would be pretty astonishing. However, I do suspect you're in the minority on that.
