DAREDEVIL REBOOT: How would you do it?

Personally, I still can't figure out exactly why the Daredevil movie was received so poorly by us fans. As far as the things I didn't like, I honestly don't think I could've done any better.

:wow:

Your kidding right? That movie redefined the word camp! My biggest gripe with this film is that it was too predictable and not designed to be taken seriously. The perfect DareDevil film would be an adaption of The mental breakdown storyline, have an R rating, and a very serious depressing tone. No, the first DD film gave me the same sensation of being on Sesame Street. There should be quantities of blood in the next DD reboot, and a CGI Kingpin true to the comics. Id also beg for Frank Miller to write and direct the screen adaptation. DD shouldn't be bright and sunny as it was in the last film, I imagine heavily overcast skies and gloomy ghettos.

The campy parts were the ones with Bulleye in them. That playground fight scene with Matt and Elektra too.

Elektra should have been exotic looking. Not looking like some girl from Kansas (ala Garner).

This babe is perfect.

Lilly looks more like her but can she deliver a convincing impersonation of Elektra's personality and make a convincing action star?

Garner beats her in those areas handily.

Puhleeeez........:whatever: What part of the comic book's character did Garner portray??? She was nothing like the bad girl from the comics.

She did some good fighting....but that can be learned.

Im so confused why so many people disliked Daredevil. I thought it was really awesome and the director's cut is even better. When i was walking out of the theater, i honestly thought "Cant wait to get this on DVD".

campy? are you serious? its' the grittiest/darkest superhero i've seen. did it have occasional one-liners, yeah.

it was the realiest, darkest superhero movie i can think of. and i think that's the reason it didn't do well. people expected another spiderman, or something in line with spiderman, and didn't realize how much darker it was.

IMO.

me too. i was honestly surprised to hear the back lash, and the sink cause it did well opening weekend and highest valentine day weekend ever or something.

ah well. i enjoyed it.

listen, i really like lily, and i think she's a great actress. I watch lost and am a huge fan, so i'm not saying this based on pics alone. I just don't see her as elektra. i'm not saying you're wrong in picking her. i just don't see her as elektra.

you can't really look at a certain pic of someone and use a certain pic of the character and compare them. you gotta look at the actress as a whole. pics can be very misleading. just because Lindsay lohan or jessica simpson looked like Marilyn in the
photoshoot doesn't mean they are perfect to play her in the movie about her right?

about garner, she wouldn't have been my first choice either, even if she did well in the role.

BS. Garner was playing Mary Jane Watson pretending to be Elektra for halloween....

wow...that's kinda harsh man. i thought she did good, considering he had more martial arts training than ben, before the movie at least.

True, Elektra's personality was toned down for the film. But she did much better job of showing the darkness in the spin-off.

She did some good fighting....but that can be learned.

It can be learned. However, not everyone has the skills or dedication to make a role like that work to their character's potential.

Beckinsale did a good job in the Underworld but she doesn't come close to Garner's action scenes, Jolovich's action movies or Uma's in Kill Bill.

Male actors aren't exempt for this, either. Affleck doesn't come close to Bale's Batman in action scenes, for instance.

I thought she did a great job in Elektra. Very stoic, very serious, very tough. The Daredevil movie had a good interpretation of pre-death Elektra but the Elektra we know was definitely in her own movie. I just don't think Garner really looked like her. They could have tried harder. Curl her hair or something...

you can't really say that considering you couldn't see a single thing Bale did in a fight scene in BB

Of course you can.

Watch his training scene with Ra's on the ice and the final fight on the train.

Bale delivered a flawless performance in that I could believe he's Batman whenever the stunt man took over. Affleck didn't do that well IMO.

That would make three comic book superhero movies for him. Not that I'm complaining, I think he'd be awesome.

Four - he's in 30 Days of Night

It doesn't matter, though - because he tends to blend chameleonically into his roles...

If the rest of the film had the same action as the bar fight...that film would have been amazing :)

:wow: are we talking about the same movie? Where is this film!!? I wanna see!!!

:unishr:

to each his own.

lets see...

scenes where he's pulling out his broken tooth, with scars all over his back, taking pain meds, actually killing the guy using the train, beating a dude to near death in front of his kid, getting stabbed by elektra and then bullseye stabbing elektra, there was a lot of death in the film. the internal struggle.

again, i can't think of a darker superhero movie so far. not blade, not batman begins, not xmen/x2. the only one that comes close is batman 89, but i don't think it's as dark.

did it have flaws, ofcourse. but it's still the darkest more realistic superhero movie i can think of. IMO.

that would have been...the bar fight was amazing. but i really didn't mind the rest. that was supposed to be the highlight fight of the movie. none of the others really had that much interaction (even if the fight vs bullseye was longer)

i don't mind the playground fight as much as others do. i though it was a nice change of pace from the rest of the dark film.

I'd like to see Javier Bardem play Bullseye, somebody mentioned that he should play Kingpin but I think that he'd be best as Bullseye himself.
