Seriously DD makes so much sense as a tv show. Have ABC studios produce it unless marvel studios has a separate tv studio.
It doesn't even have to be on ABC. HBO, SHOWTIME and AMC are out since I think that only allow their shows but I'm sure they can figure something out.
Make it like law and order except the order part is the law part dressing like the devil.
13 episode seasons. Have things go from good(DD is kicking ass and taking names) to bad(kingpin figures out DD secret identity and sets out to kill his loved ones) to scary dark(DD goes off the deep end and almost starts killing)
Edit:I see that Disney owns half of A&E. Perhaps that could be good for DD.
A&E does have their original dramas finally doing well in the ratings plus all their reality shows they can advertise it. They're already developing a Psycho TV series.
ABC Studios and Marvel Television would pitch it to everyone except Time Warner channels (TNT, The CW, HBO) just because of the DC Comics connection. I don't think it would go to pay cable like Showtime or Starz because it limits the audience and those networks have never really had a large audience.
AMC has The Walking Dead, the highest rated drama on cable which could be used as a lead in.
FX has male skewing dramas and comedies, would be a good fit.
A&E is another destination, being a corporate sibling helps.
NBC may be desperate enough to out bid everyone as they did for the Wonder Woman series that was in development last year.
ABC could stick it on at 10/9c but if they're going for a dark, serious take it may not fit the network. Especially if they ever get a Hulk or Whedon's show on the schedule. Though they could split the timeslot during the season, Sept-Jan, Feb-May.
Maybe
Fox would air it, they have limited hours available so it would probably stuck on Fridays if they did pick it up. They are developing a Punisher series.
It wouldn't fit with what
CBS has and they would want a more broad show.
Spike aired the Blade series years ago but Spike just does reality now.
USA would need to change the tone to a more lighthearted one.
SyFy could also air it but it would be a last resort.
Best bets are FX, AMC and A&E followed by NBC, ABC and Fox.
Once the rights revert back to them they can start pitching for pilot season. If NBC or Fox wants the show then there is a chance it could air during the 2013-2014 TV season. If a cable network picks up the series it wouldn't air until 2014.
David Slade or Joe Carnahan could direct the TV pilot.
