Dark Souls - Prepare to die.

so, has the online component been fixed?

I remember when DS 1st came out, quite a few people were complaining about the online play ( like it was hard to interact with other players or something )......

has that been fixed now?

Fixed in what way? The online is very different from typical online (you can't really choose who you get to interact with). I have never had a problem summoning people, finding notes, or being invaded in my PS3 copy.

PC gamers are not always the most hardcore.

Well yea, they are argubly the most casual as well. It's a diverse platform. You get hardcore players with £2000 pc's playing very sophicated and challenging games and 7 year old girls playing the sims and farmville on a £150 netbook.

But console games especially in the 80's and 90's had just as or sometimes way more so difficult hardcore games. So many of my friends that were console only from the 80's till now, love hardcore games themselves. I think the sales of Dark Souls has been good and its only been out for a while. I don't mind if PC gamers get a taste of it though. But no need to start this kind of talk that PC gamers are the only hardcore ones. And hell I use to be a huge PC gamer back in the day.

Oh yea, older snes/sega console games were pretty difficult. But I think it should be pretty clear now that accessibility and mainstream is the agenda being pushed. If you just look at the Xbox's E3 confrence this year, it was almost entirely casual/social motion based games. The gaming media with 20 something dude bro's who totally dig this hot awsome game are also trying to promote this nonesense. It would be fair to say (with Dark Souls being the expection) the pc is really the last bastion of hardcore games as well as specific genres typically associated with it. e.g. simulators, space trading, tactical shooters, strategy games.... Dark souls would fit in quite well. Probably an auidence their they didn't realize existed.

Eh. I think gaming has become more casual across the board, regardless of platform. Yes, as you say, the most hardcore games are found on PC, but even on PC those genres you mention aren't nearly as ubiquitous as they used to be. And even the ones that do get released, I'm sure you would find a lot fans claiming that they're dumbed down.

Thats definitely the case. The industry is A LOT larger now, it was obvious that the "hardcore" games would become few and far between.

I thought he meant in terms of population. When Dark Souls came out it didn't seem to be as heavily populated as Demon Souls was.

60,000+ signatures on the petition now, plus a new post from the Namco website admin:

I honestly wasn't expecting such a massive support. My boss(es) even came to talk to me about this, after it explodes all around the world. If you wanted to have the attention of Namco Bandai Games, now you have it.

The future is in your hands, and I hope you will keep supporting this. I make a personal objective to make sure every relevant people in Namco Bandai Games is in touch with this formidable effort.

Great Thanks!

This game needs to drop in price a bit.. As I want to pick it up.

I just got the full 1000/1000 achievement points for this! :yay: This game surprised me and has probably taken my #1 spot so far this gen, it's really a fantastic experience that I keep coming back to.

Well, the petition worked. Dark Souls for PC is coming in August with new bosses.

FUUUU...that manticore looks so awesome. :wow:

I really hope they are planning to release the new content as DLC for the console versions.

I'm sure they will. Namco likes money.

Anyway, despite owning Dark Souls since release, I'm just now starting to really sink my teeth into it. (As of a couple of weeks ago.)

P.S. - Those mosquito things in Blighttown can be a pain in the ass.

P.P.S. - The framerate in Blighttown isn't nearly as bad as I had been lead to believe.

It's better on the PS3 than it is on the 360, and it can get gnarly on rare occasions, but yeah it isn't hard to play through it.

I finally got around to playing this fully and immersively. Beat it, not too bad, a bit overrated overall. I found the difficulty to be way overblown as I never had too much of a problem gettin through the game.

I think fans of the game will be the first to admit that the level of challenge in the game is exaggerated more often than not.

When they make a third Souls games, I do hope they make it even harder though. Dark Souls seems a step down in that regard from Demon's Souls.

Trailer for Dark Souls PC:

Includes brand new areas, bosses, enemies, NPCs, weapons, armor, and more.

Even though my PC could never run it, I'll definitely buy it. Assuming it's coming to Steam.

Why (full disclosure: I bought MGS4 several months before I purchased a PS3 so I can't say anything)?

To support the franchise, as I believe it's an important one for gaming. And also so I'll have it to play in the future whenever I finally pull the trigger on getting gaming PC.

I had a feeling and I looked for that in search and nothing. bah oh I'll have it merged. Actually no I don't need todo that. the video I put up is for the pc version. it's in the right place.

As far as I know, PC is included on multiplatform.

I'm so getting this on PC :D I can't wait for mods ^_^

I really can't wait for the DLC to hit consoles. It's probably my most anticipated holiday release. That said, having platinumed the game back in January I'll probably have to spend a week readjusting to it before heading into the new area.
