BvS David S. Goyer IS the Script Writer! - Part 3

We already know Goyer's approach to these characters. At this point I'm more interested in Terrio's view of these characters than anything else.

Yep. I hope Terrio's like "comic books are awesome and mythical and I like where Zack and Goyer are going with it" :D

Very skeptical of this possible part of an old draft from BvS, but I have always liked Brainiac/Metallo as villains. Interesting to do the computer a.i approach. It does read like Goyer more than I would guess Terrio. Not to say I think it's legit.

Lex developing Metallo as a way to produce drones in the future with better understood technology is reasonable enough I suppose. This rumored script element seems to intertwine Kryptonian technology into the creation of both drones and Metallo.

I really don't know if I like revisiting possible military application idea ala Ironman 2 though :-/

It would be interesting if Lex got assistance from Brainiac to build Metallo and his drone army after. An army taken over by Brainic? Cool, and gives Lex a public out. Interesting but more internet bs probably.

How do we know Terrio is involved in characterization though? For all we know, this could just be a writer who's polishing up what is ultimately Goyer's idea.

Terrio is the primary screenwriter.

Really? That pleases me.

The press releases say "written by Chris Terrio from a screenplay by David Goyer".

Which means that Terrio took Goyer's screenplay and then wrote another screenplay.

Great!

I don't mean to hate on Goyer, but I'm really excited about Terrio. If nothing else, it will be nice to have a change. With a Goyer script, I have general idea of what to expect and what flaws might be present. Terrio adds an unexpected element. This movie could be very different.

Wait... So in other words it's NOT a page one re-write? It's still working off of Goyer's script then?

- Introduction of contemporary political themes with some development but lack of resolution and integration within the broader plot;
- Grandiose speeches about glorious destiny from father figures;
- Compelling character arcs for the tertiary characters;
- A technologically-convoluted McGuffin, like the bomb in TDKR or the Codex in MoS;
- "Realism";

You forgot the moments of truly dubious dialogue ("dicksplash," "you're a monster and I'm going to stop you").

This is why I said that Terrio could just be re-working what's ultimately Goyer's ideas. Unless of course, his script fixes the execution problems that Goyer's Man of Steel suffered from.

I will give this to goyer, "Where did you train? ON A FARM?!?!" is one of my favorite lines ever.

I thought "Krypton had its chance!" was a great line. It's basically superman choosing humanity over restoring Krypton even after years of searching for answers about his past. It's made better by superman hesitating for just a second when Zod says "If you destroy this ship, you destroy Krypton!"

I liked that line too. Cavill's execution was good.

I liked all of Faora's lines in MoS, and Col. Hardy's corresponding lines too.

"A good death is its own reward".

I liked the over-the-top dialogue moments. Reminds me of a classic silver age comic or something.

"I will find him!!!!"

"Release the world engine!"

"maybe.....but I'm not going to let that stop me from trying"

"You're a monster Zod, and I'm going to stop you!"

I love moments in CBM's that are like "Release the World Engine!!"

Being able to say **** like that is one of the main reasons to actually get into the super villain business in the first place. You get to wake up look at yourself in the mirror and say to yourself, "That's right... Today I am releasing the mutha-cussing World Engine!"

Hi guys. Just want to ask a few questions about Goyer to the people who are much more knowledgeable than me on the subject. It's because I want to get my facts straight about him and his work, before passing any judgement:

(Also I'm not here to start any argument or looking for opinions, just legitimately want some facts)

1. Was Goyer or Nolan responsible for TDKT's different from the comics portrayal of Batman?
2. Was Zack Snyder or Goyer the one who decided to have Supes kill Zod?
3. Was Goyer responsible for the inadequate handling of events after the death of Zod in MOS?
4. Does Goyer like to stuff his own concepts onto superhero characters and not really understand their original themes as well as he should.

And for the record, I loved MOS, love ZS's work and don't really like Nolan's Batman portrayal (except Batman Begins).
