Also, I'm not totally well versed in the writing aspect of these films, but every time Goyer is writing, I swear there's always news that someone else is rewriting the script. So, that's saying a lot ...

Goyer's basically best used as an idea guy/guy that's familiar with comics, now that they have Snyder (and potentially Affleck) I think he's kinda unnecessary.

The MM comment really irks me, he's one of my favorites and he doesn't get nearly the attention he deserves, a lot of fascinating ways you could approach a character like MM, I'd prefer someone that cares about the character to be handling a JL film.

Also worth noting: Goyer's work with Marvel includes not only Blade Trinity, but also Ghost Rider 2 and the Hasselhoff Nick Fury TV movie. So it's somewhat interesting that he's taken to calling a popular Marvel character a superpowered ****e.

Goyer has a story credit with Snyder. Terrio has a screenplay credit.

Story credit means they basically come up with the main plot beats (this happens, then that happens, which leads to this happening). The screenplay fleshes that out and connects all the dots. The dialogue etc.

I don't hate the guy. He was partly responsible for the awesome re-imagining of Blade, which is still one of my favourite CBMs.

But it baffles me when i see people defending him no matter what. His comments, even if there were a joke, are ignorant and insulting. It's as simple as that.

I mean, I guess if you're personally offended by a bad joke that plays on stereotypes and someone's opinion about a third or fourth tier comic book character...

I dunno, the reaction to that here seems kind of overly sensitive to me.

I've been waiting for someone to make this argument.

First, there is not, in fact, a ROCKET RACCOON movie. There is GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY movie, in which Rocket is a single character of an ensemble.

Second, guess what? Marvel is not calling him "Rocket Raccoon" in marketing much so far.

For the most part, they're just calling him "Rocket". Probably because they understand the cheese that can be inherent with alliterative names like that. Keep in mind, that this is in a movie where they're not even that CONCERNED with the cheese factor.

It's much the same issue Goyer has with the name "Martian Manhunter".

Yeah, that one confuses me as well. I could understand if he were talking about a lesser-known character like Blockbuster or Anarky, but MM has been in almost every show and media involving members of the JL. Heck, he was even in that crappy JLA pilot! He might not be Batman or Superman in terms of popularity, but people know who he is. I barely even watched the JL cartoon, and I at least know what MM looks like.
