I highly doubt that the difference in popularity between Miss Marvel and GotG would be significant to the GA. Both would rely on being part of the Avengers and the audience knowing nothing about them. But hey I'm arguing against your opinion so theres no winning.

LOL. I disagree.

Maybe if they can headline their own movie and surpass/rival the popularity of Wolverine, Spider-Man or DC superheroes like Batman, Wonder Woman and Flash, I would call them A-list but that hasn't happened yet. And Deadpool is everywhere? I haven't seen a toy/merchandise for him.

They all can/could.

It's very easy to find Deadpool merch and there are ****loads of it. Besides Wolverine not one X-men character comes close to the amount of merchandising that character has.

Even if their movies turned out to be great, they wouldn't sell like a Spider-Man movie or an Iron Man movie or a X-Men movie.

You don't know that. Your assuming just as much as I am. Look what happened with Iron Man. A movie starring an actor who didn't have a movie gross 100 mil since the 80s and a Marvel character who was always said not to be as marketable as Batman or Spidey is now just as bankable. Fury and Widow are built into the most famous and successful comic franchise ever for films. By a really big amount too. Theres no doubt Black Widow and Nick Fury are two extremely popular characters that everyone is aware of now. X-Men has never made close to a billion like Avengers, Bats or Spidey has but I wouldnt lower their status because of it. I think they are capable and just as marketable. Your basing some of these characters on your personal terms and opinions. You won't consider the comic world valid in terms of labeling a character's popularity, yet you think The Flash is more A-list then Black Widow in the current non-comic reading mainstream audience and that Deadpool's status is the same as Ms Marvels regardless of him selling more in every single area of merch, media and social networking. That doesn't add up.

I agree with you on the biggies (Spidey,Batman etc), but your off on some of these characters whos status in modern pop culture has lifted significantly in the past 5 years.

This isn't really a big deal, but I'm the one who've been editing the Wikipedia page of Days of Future Past. And I looked at the view count of the Wikipedia pages of the upcoming Superhero films.

Iron Man 3 - 638,879 views in the last 30 days
The Wolverine - 453,497 views in the last 30 days
Man of Steel - 447,628 views in the last 30 days
X-Men: Days of Future Past - 359,420 views in the last 30 days
Thor: The Dark World - 260,697 views in the last 30 days
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 -250,756 views in the last 30 days
Captain America: The Winter Soldier - 237,989 views in the last 30 days
Kick-Ass 2 - 210,139 views in the last 30 days
Guardians of the Galaxy - 206,416 views in the last 30 days

So judging with these statistics, I think X-Men: Days of Future Past is the most buzz superhero film that will come out next year!

The Wikipedia page of DOFp will probably get more than 500,000 views!
 
I have a feeling X-Men: Days of Future Past will get at least $150 million at the opening weekend!

If you adjusted the dometsic takes of X2 and Last Stand for Infliration they would grow to 282 million(X2) and 283 Million(The Last Stand) It's very possable DOFP can get to this.
And remember this was before 3-d.Overseas It may do even better.That Is track record
of both origins and First Class.

If Man of steel does get around 300 million domesticly then It's defently possable for DOFP to match It or come close.

But domestic box-office is less predictable. But over-seas, I have a good feeling that its gonna be the biggest X-men movie to date!

For the first time in nearly a decade for its series, the front-runner seems to be X-Men: Days of Future Past. Online buzz for the film has been audible as it promises to unite the original cast with their well-regarded, younger counterparts from 2011's First Class. Yes, the X-Men franchise slipped from its box office peak after 2006, but as The Avengers proved, sometimes the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Days of Future Past will feature a large ensemble led by Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, and James McAvoy (among many others) with Bryan Singer returning to direct the mutants for the first time since 2003's X2. The recent move to a Memorial Day weekend opening--just three weeks after Spidey--indicates that Fox has a lot of confidence in it. The sequel has consistently been one of the most discussed movies on Twitter.

If Boxoffice.com is thinking DOFP is THE (or one of the) banner release for next summer (ie. highest grossing) I wonder how much they're predicting for its opening weekend. :wow:

Probably more than 100 million. X3 got more than 100 million in its opening weekend and DOFP will have 3D and price inflation. I'm just gonna be excited if this film really ends up as the highest grossing X-Men film to date! But of course the film has to be really good too and marketed well to earn more money in the long run.

X3 would have been the 2nd top grossing film of 2006 (domestic) if only the film was as good as X2. Cars got $244m and Night at the Museum got $250m. X3 would have at least earned 20 million more if only the film was better and if the legs weren't weak.

With Man of steel aiming for a final take of 300m domestically, I feel more confident now that DOFP will reach even more than that.

Id be more than happy with 350m, but if it does more, f**** awesome! :D
 
Considering man of steel If DOFP has a huge opening weekend on Memorial day weekend
the oddes are good for a 280 to 290 million take close to or a bit higher than X2 and Last
Stand's domesic take adjusted for Inflation.If It could get Into 300 million range domesticly that would be even better.
 
As long as X-Men: Days of Future Past gets $250 million at domestic box-office. I would be very happy! Today, movies have to be really BIG and marketable and appealing to the general audience to get more than $250 million and we all know X-Men movies usually don't have strong legs at the box-office. If it got $250 million, it still doesn't outgross the first three X-Men movies when you adjust the numbers, but people usually forget about price inflation when they mention the box-office performance of the movies.
 
Beating X3 adjusted (284 m) would be the ultimate goal.

But I think anything over 550 m WW would be considered a success.

I see 275 m DOM, 400 m OS, and 675 m WW.
 
Anything over 459m WW would be considered a success. But I really hope its the first X-Men film to gross more than 500 million.
 
I think you guys are underestimating the movie or being cautious... It's been so long since we've seen The Freakin X-Men in a movie together this is gonna be the THE movie of the summer.. I say close to a billion worldwide
