DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 3

I like the idea of a reboot. It's a good jumping on point for me. I don't like so much history and like that this is saying 90% of that history is out the window, start reading our books now. And isn't that really the point of the reboot?

All I've read in the past is trades of things or Ultimate Marvel (Back when it wasn't messed up) where I didn't need to worry about a million years of history.

Except when you reboot something you should reboot everything. Which is why things are even more confusing now since DC decieded to reboot certain big aspects of the DC Universe while others are just getting simply relaunched. DC is trying to have its cake and eat it to.

Teen Titans getting completely rebooted erases all of Young Justice which erases portions of WW stories involving Cassie which erases certain portions of Supergirl who seems to be rebooted instead of relaunched. Its a whole trickling effect.

I really hope they don't have Steve Trevor and Wonder Woman as a couple after the relaunch

I'd be okay with Diana and Steve being a couple, as he's classically Diana's Lois Lane. However, I really liked Steve being tied to Etta, leaving Diana free to pursue other men like Barnes or Tom or just to be single.

Speaking of which, I really hope Etta sticks around as Diana's best friend after the relaunch. And I want her to still be the badass Lt. Colonel she was under Simone's pen.

I would be okay with them going back to her and Steve being a thing. I never really understood Perez's reasoning behind separating them the way he did. Probably had something to do with the way she pined so hard for him during the SA. Which is a pretty bad way to go about it, I guess, but it's possible to do it without going into that territory. I kind of have a soft spot for panty waste Steve, though I know it's kind of reserve-sexism in a way, but I always kind of liked the dynamic that the strongest woman had her heart tickled by such a sad excuse for a man (though he wasn't that bad all the time; he had some moments). As long as he didn't overshadow her or serve as some kind of silly anchor of morality and reason like in the animated film, I'd be fine with that.

I've never thought much of Trevor but the fact that Perez judged him unworthy of being Diana's love interest when he was the co-creator of Terry Long is just insanely hypocritical.

It's a relaunch not a reboot Kahoot :)

And personally I'm glad its not a reboot as I don't want the dcu as it is now to be completely erased
Same thing. I was just using Hippie Hunter's words

Personally I'd like to see her hook up with Io

Though Black Canary and Artemis are also two characters that I ship her with. In any case i think it would be neat if she had a girlfriend

Agreed Etta Candy was :awesome: like a possum in those Wonder Woman comic books and i like her being Wonder Woman's best friend and sidekick

Terry Long getting no love

It's his beard isnt it. You hate him because of his beard :ninja:

A lot of my hatred for him does lie with the beard. Even though Long was in his early 30's at the most, his beard made him look like he as a creepy 40 something year old man hanging out with a bunch of under 20 year olds. I think Cracked said it best when they named him the Creepiest Comic Book Character of All Time:

Creepy Because:

Look at him.

Terry Long from Teen Titans is a cross between a member of the Bee Gees and a Dutch porn star. He is the fist of the '70s hitting you in the face forever. Why is this jackass in the comic? Easy, he became the steady boyfriend and later husband of Wonder Girl.

Wonder Girl, if you didn't know, grew up on an island full of Amazonian women where no man could visit. These are the only circumstances we can think of where a girl (and remember these are the "teen" Titans) could think this divorced ex-college professor was the man of her dreams. Most people who dream about Terry Long end up rocking in a fetal position on the floor of their bedrooms, holding a knife and downing pots of coffee in a quest to never sleep again.

Terry Long stained every page of Teen Titans when he appeared with his downright palpable, reptilian sleaziness. When Terry wasn't trying to blend in with the Teen Titans like a creepy uninvited uncle, he was openly hitting on Wonder Girl's female teammates.

Finally in 1997 Terry Long died in a car crash, leaving the universe a substantially less sleazy place.
It also doesn't help when DC gave us gems like this:

Have they stated what will happen to Dick Grayson and Tim Drake? How about Catwoman?

Dick stops being Batman and goes back to being Nightwing. Catwoman I don't know the details but she has a title in the relaunch. Tim Drake is still Red Robin but with a different look.

Dick is returning to the role of Nightwing, almost everything regarding him is still intact. Same with Tim, but he'll be shipped off to the new Teen Titans book.

so they are going to honor his tme as Batman? I thought this relaunch was going to ignore the developments of the last few years and start all over. So they are only relaunching the titles back to #1? Its not a crisis level retcon across the board?

Some comics are starting over from the beginning (like Firestorm), some are just ignoring some recent continuity while keeping some other stuff (Superman), and some are just getting a new #1 issue and continuing like nothing happened (Batman).

So in a sense, it's a lot like what happened after the Crisis.

No one else here has ever spanked someone with a shoe before?

Obviously that's why theres a shoe in the bed :ninja:

Oh what the what is going on with those swimming trunks

No really there is no excuse for that panel

That was a Doctor Who reference? I assumed it was just a gay/beard joke about Terry Long and Donna Troy.

Are you sure about Tim? The solicit for Teen Titans seemed to indicate that he was some kind of hacking whiz-kid who would be stepping out from behind his computer for the first time as Red Robin or something like that...
