DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 5

No Batman specific title interests me because 1) still burned by Morrison and 2) there are so many Bat Books it is actually a turn off. It's like I'm subconsciously doing it out of spite as well then.

The fact that it is Snyder though for the Batman title gives me faith because I've heard amazing things of his work recently but I first need to read this Detective Run when it comes out in TPB. That is something I'm looking forward to. My brother will be getting Batman and Batman and Robin I believe at least so if I'm curious I could check it out. But after Morrison took over a long time ago the only Bat Books that my brother got that I felt like reading were the Dini stuff with Hush which was amazing.

I really recommend getting Batwoman and Batman sidekick I'm positive you'll love both those series

And Batgirl is looking and sounding like its going to be a pretty neat series as well

I'm going tto try to get into Wonder WOman with the reboot, in fact, i'll read all the 52 comics (on a shop or on PirateBay) and i heared that good feedback about WW 1, by the way, is her comic going to be an origin story or not?

2) Why are you referencing anything from the tie-ins when you never even read the first 4 books of Flashpoint to know their relevance (high or low)

I know that Barry and Batman try to rally up Superman and he flies away. Flashpoint Superman #3, however, ends with Lois dying, telling Kal that he needs to save the people. Kal then says "My name is Kal. Today I must be a Superman." followed by a "to be continued in Flashpoint #5!" which to me, implied that there was going to be this great epic appearance of Kal in an important role. There wasn't.

3) That Superman in Flashpoint is not the new Superman when Flash changes history again...that was the Flashpoint Superman. He is not meant to reflect the old or new Superman at all.

I'm aware of that. You misinterpreted what I said. See above for what I meant.

And in your reply you show that you knew nothing so you cannot say what is and is not half assed when you read the last issue of a several issue series. That's like my watching the last 20 minutes of a movie and saying "this thing was poorly done" when I don't know anything that happened prior. See how hard I'm trying to be nice here?

1. Did the giant floating head at the end of the book appear in ANY other issue of the previous 4 Flashpoint books? What from Barry's reaction to it, plus all the other reviews I've read of the issue, apparently no, she hasn't appeared in the previous issues. That said, to suddenly have some new character go "MERGE THE TIME STREAM!" felt forced and half-assed. If Barry messed up the time stream by trying to save his mom in the first place, it would be far more reasonable for Barry to muck it up again trying to stop himself at the end. That's what I found half-assed. Everything else was fine.

2. You're actually trying very hard not to get angry over something so miniscule as this? Ok.

No but some big secret about her origin is going to be revealed in the story

Then what is it going to be about?
People already know her?
If so which comics should i read that may precede the story from the reboot?

I mentioned I would be getting Batwoman in this and other threads. No worries there. When I meant Batman specific I meant the ones that he stars in: Detective Comics, Batman, Batman & Robin, and Batman: The Dark Knight.

No, most of the comics have heroes that are already established. Wonder Woman, which is set in the present day, has a Wonder Woman that has 5 years experience.

No. Action Comics works as a Superman centric anthology title. Keep the non-Superman characters out.

I dunno. Isn't Superman perfect for that?

I liked it when Byrne made Action a Superman Team Up book every month. And I like it when Action has a second story about the Legion.

Seems like they could take a more anthology road to Action.

:supes: :supes: :supes:

Well we don't know which stories will still be in continuity but I think you should check out the Rucka stories as well as the George Perez and Phil Jiminez ones as well

The Gail Simone stories are pretty neat as well and worth reading

Ah right

I still definitely recommend Batman Snyder has been fab so far. Avoid Detective Comics though

Synder is awesome but I'm willing to give DC a shot. While Daniel gets his fair share of criticism I def. enjoyed Battle for the Cowl and Life after death.:o

What arc/story are you referring to by this?

Throughout Morrison's run that show bits of Batman's origin. He has Bruce younger (as opposed to being 25), he has him going after Joe Chill (which was changed from the murderer never getting caught), has taken on a costume more along the lines of Bob Kane's first Batman design, etc. He does make a few references to Year One such as in The Return of Bruce Wayne, but overall there have been some changes to Batman's earlier days to reflect the Golden Age Batman a bit more.

hmm....I'll have to go back and look over this stuff. Most of Morrison's stuff I own in trade so I'll have to double check. Thanks.

I disagree.

I think both Detective and Action should be about different characters that fit that mold.

Or at the very least have a back up with different characters. Batman to start it off, finish it up with The Question, or a Robin story, or one of the 11 dozen other detectives in the DCU who don't get much time to shine.

Did anyone here get a digital copy of Justice League #1? Bleeding Cool has some scans of it up, but they look blurry. I'll pick up Action Comics #1 in print if that's the standard quality.

I'd be down for that. I bought a bunch of Action Comics books from the Bronze Age solely because Aquaman was the backup feature. I didn't care for or read any of the actual Action Comics Superman main features.

Okay, so I red Flashpoint 5 and Justice League.

I highly enjoyed the dialogue between Hal and Bruce; good stuff. I laughed at Batman's "I'd be worried if I thought you could think" line. Clearly a set up issue, giving everyone the tone for the new universe. It works; I'll continue buying.

Incidentally, the unused Superman design in the back is actually better than the weird half-measure they went with (though still not as good as the classic). The early GL redesign is also interesting.

The bit in Flashpoint rationalizing the merger of Vertigo and Wildstorm with DC was a nice touch.

I wonder if Majestic is gonna show up at some point?

I did. My first legit digital comic.

Looked fine. It even has this "focus screen" where you forward through the beats of the art.

:hal: :hal: :hal:

I doubt it only because I hear that he is supposed to be ridiculously more power Superman. I haven't read anything with him but he is more like pre-COIE Superman juggling planets and all type of powerful, right?
