DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 6

Okay that didn't really help at all so I Googled it and found another SHH thread that helped. From what I understand the DCU Dark titles are the sorta rubbish "monster" titles with Animal Man somehow fitting in there. Out of them all I only liked Animal Man and sorta Swamp Thing (even though I had no clue what was going on)

If you go to the DC site in their Source Blog section they have all the titles categorized by genres they entitled different things. One of them being "Dark".

http://dcu.blog.dccomics.com/the-new-52/

Justice League Dark, Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Frankentstein: Agent of SHADE, I, Vampire, Ressurection Man, Demon Knights are the titles under "The Dark" genre.

Rubbish? The dark titles have been pretty solid thus far, more so than many of the other corners of the new 52.

I know. The Dark titles have been some of the best of the relaunch.

His opinion is rubbish.

Just finished Action and Stormwatch. Reading Red Lanterns and JLI later.

Loved Action and Stormwatch has me wanting to read back issues of these guys. Any recommendations?

Especially Frankenstein and Demon Knights. Both those titles were excellence and I cannot wait to check out the new issues of both titles next week

Stormwatch Volume 4

Authority Volumes 1 through 5

Authority Revolution

The secret History of Jenny Sparks.

My ranking for the week:

Swamp Thing 2- 10/10 Blew my mind. Great pacing, great revelations, gorgeous art. Miles better than issue 1.

Animal Man 9.5/10 Crazy art, creepy story, great family interactions. Lots of heart and atmosphere. As good as issue 1

Action Comics 9.5/10 Morrison is crafting a Superman tale for the ages. This is Superman's Batman Year One. I hope next issue there will be no more fill-in artist.

O.M.A.C. 2- 8.5/10 This comic is surprising me. It's old school superhero affair. Super solid and super fun.

Stormwatch 8/10 the team interactions are priceless, but the villain and threats could be more threatening and intimidating. Better than its issue 1.

*Will read JLI and GA later.

:wow:

Really?

Stormwatch Volume 4

Great stuff

Especially the Authority stories and Jenny Sparks. Some seriously fab comic books right there

But they are fighting the moon

There is no villain more villainous than the moon. Floating up there. Making werewolves. Full of rock spiders

It's evil!

I'm dropping Red Lanterns, it's just going nowhere. I'm also on the edge with Stormwatch now. :csad:

Action Comics, JLI and especially Animal Man are awesome though.

What haven't you liked about Stormwatch 'Ferret

Red Lanterns has been a real disappointment though :csad:

Animal Man - Loved it again. 5 out of 5.

Swamp Thing - Loved it. 5 out of 5.

Stormwatch - Loved it. 5 out of 5. This one vastly improved on the art from the previous issue. Maybe it was the inking? And the actual content was just so amazing.

OMAC - Great read. 4 out of 5. Not bad but makes me a bit sad because I didn't love it like I loved issue 1. But it was still enjoyable. Part of my problem is mayhaps that looks like this Checkmate resembles nothing of Rucka's insanely awesome Checkmate.

Huntress - Good read. 3 out of 5. Your typical Huntress story, really.

Men of War - Good read again. 3 out of 5. But it didn't go where I wanted it to go involving Circe. So small disappointment. I'm not sure if I'm going to stick around though because it's 1 dollar more and I don't care to read the back-up feature also.

Debating about getting JLI still. Don't really care to get Static Shock after being disappointed in the first issue last month.

It's moving a bit fast for such a big cast, and I'm starting to doubt that J'onn will be portrayed well.

Unless I'm mistaken.

Mongul.jpg

Not vaguely offensively stereotypically Asian enough.

If it is a redesign then it is a huge redesign. Color scheme and skin color though is similar.

I rather liked how J'onn was written in issue one but I haven't read issue two yet

You know its true :ninja:

Mongul is an asian stereotype?

Bright yellow skin. Small thin eyes. MONGUL. Seems pretty obvious to me.
