DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 8

I'd love to see Wally back but I agree turning him back into Kid Flash would be awful on a waffle. Undoing all that great character work by Loebs and Waid would be a terrible idea so if I had to choose between no Wally or Wally as Kid Flash i would rather have no Wally

I don't really see why he can't still be around though. If both Hal Jordan and Kyle Rayner can be around at the same time post flashpoint surely both Barry and Wally can be too

I don't see why he couldn't just be around 21, and married young, childhood sweetheart or something. That way, a lot of his history still loosely happened.

Not to mention 4 Robin's in 5 years.

That's just an excuse. Dick is virtually unchanged. (Which is kind of a problem really.)

I'm just trying to ignore the whole timeline thing right now

If you think too much about it you realise just how confuzzling it is. So I'm just making up my own continuity in my head and enjoying the good comic books DC are doing right now :)

Neither do i really

At this point, I'm pretty much only reading Animal Man.

You should buy Batwoman and Batman they're two of the absolute best titles DC publishes right now

Also Frankenstein agent of S.H.A.D.E

Don't like the Bats much, and Frankenstein was a mess when I originally gave it a try.

That's fair enough

Though Batwoman is pretty different to the other Bat titles so I'd recommend giving it a try if you haven't already :)

Birds of Prey is pretty fab right now too

Yeah, even if you're not a Batman fan, Batman and Batwoman are still two awesome books.

I mean, I don't like Thor at all, but I still read JiM religiously.

I've still got a treasure trove of Wally-centric Flash comics to choose from, so I'm happy.

Would I be happy to see him again in new comics? Yeah, of course.

Am I a fan of Barry Allen? Yes, I am. I like the entire Flash mythos.

Do I like that he was resurrected? Nope.

Am I on board with every change in the new DCU? Of course not, but I've made up my mind to not turn into Kurosawa, and I'm sticking to that.

I agree with all this.

The DCnU is not perfect far from it. What happened with Booster Gold and Secret Six especially still really grinds my gears. At the same time I embrace what I like and filter the stuff I couldn't care less about. No need to keep spending money on ******** and aggravating myself with pointless nonsense. I have better ways to spend my time.

I don't like a Booster Gold without the growth he's had since his existence so I don't read JLI. The new Suicide Squad line up on the creative side and within the story doesn't interest me. It doesn't feel like a proper surrogate for that other SS abbreviated series featuring Deadshot with other bat rouges by Simone so I don't even look at it etc.

You really should be reading Swamp Thing though; it's as good as Animal Man.

Suicide Squad is just awful

They need to cancel that and bring back Secret Six already

Yeah, even if you're not a Batman fan, Batman and Batwoman are still two awesome books.

This be the truth

I need the next issue of Batwoman right now :atp:

I like Suicide Squad. But I haven't read Secret Six to know what I'm missing.

Fantastic. I'm not a fan of the guy, I was excited when I saw Hawkeye was getting a new series... Then I saw Fraction's name on it and got sad.

Fraction has his uses. His Iron Man was good for a long time, but he let it sort of run of the rails (though it sounds like maybe it's getting back on track?). Immortal Iron Fist was goddamn incredible (though at least part of that was Brubaker). On the other hand, I despise the way he writes Thor, his X-Men run was boring, and Fear Itself was abysmal.

I'm going to give Hawkeye a shot, and see which Fraction shows up.

Wait, you want Wally to date and/or marry his aunt? Kurosawa is right, you modern day fans are sick and twisted individuals!! :argh:
Hey, it's the midwest. I'm sure he's at least thought about it before. :awesome:

So what books are you all reading?

I've read them all, but there's a very narrow list (becoming even more narrow) that I actually like.

Here's what I'm enjoying:

Batman
Nightwing
Batwoman
Batgirl
Detective
The Dark Knight
Voodoo
Animal Man
Swamp Thing
Aquaman
Catwoman
Green Lantern
Justice League

I'm going to give Earth 2 and Batman Inc. a shot, even though I hate Morrison and nothing about an alternate Earth gets me that excited.

I had been reading Action and Supergirl but had to drop them because, I really hate Morrison's writing. It's confusing and boring. The only thing I liked about the first 8 Action comics were the Kent's family backstory - which was great, but too few and far between.

As for Supergirl, I found the story boring and the art bland. I pick up Supergirl for two reasons - to read an interesting story about a teenage girl who is totally displaced and to see some T and A. I wasn't getting either of that so after 8 issues, I said forget it.

I tried a lot of the New 52 titles, but these are the ones I ended up sticking with:

Action Comics
Animal Man
Aquaman
Batman
Batwoman
Green Lantern: New Guardians
I, Vampire
Resurrection Man
Swamp Thing

Aquaman's on thin ice, but the rest I'm pretty content with. Apparently, I've been drawn much more to the DCU Dark line than anything else. Oh, and Batman Incorporated is definitely going on my list when it starts.

As far as future titles: Literally everything about the upcoming Earth 2 stuff is unappealing to me, but I'm sure I'll end up checking out the origin issues for Alan Scott and Jay Garrick in Earth Two regardless. I just like those characters too much to completely ignore them. I gotta at least see what kind of damage is done to them, if nothing else. World's Finest, however, can go hang. I hate Huntress and I'm indifferent to Power Girl at best, and I certainly never liked their original origins as members of the Earth-2 Batman and Superman families, respectively.
