DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 8

Really? That's interesting. What's driving her away?

From the gossip I heard, J.H. Williams III is kind of a pain to work with (i.e. kind of a dick) and she really doesn't like Eddie Berganza (i.e. huge dick).

I hope whichever artist they get to replace her on the series is just as good

Though I'll buy the series whoever the artist is. It's the character and JH Williams writing that makes me want to buy the series

The gorgeous artwork is a bonus

Why is he fighting rats? Do they have super speed too?

Jay hires himself out as a pest exterminator to make some cash

Super speed rats are a major problem on Earth 2 :ninja:

Well, damn. I love Reeder. I'm sure she'll be able to find something else, or at least bounce to something creator-owned for awhile.

The writing is good, but just like with the Flash, the artwork, from both Williams and Reeder, is the star of this book.

Captain Marvel is dead and Amy Reeder is leaving Batwoman. Wonderful.

Ladies and gents, Earth-2's Jay Garrick.

EARTH-2-2-Cover_02.jpg

He reminds me of SuperYoungTeam's Sonic Lightning Flash.

But the artist on Justice League is more along the lines of a fill-in artist, not a rotating artist.
How is that really any different though?

You could say Nick Bradshaw is just the fill in artist on the bi-weekly Wolverine and the X-Men. Or that anyone who isn't Humberto Ramos is a fill in artist on ASM.
Also, take into account that DC is attempting to follow a strict schedule now. Certain books come out on certain dates. Double shipping would mess that schedule up quite a bit.
Which is cool. I'm not saying DC should change anything now.

Just that, in hindsight (which is 20/20, of course), it probably would've been more financially and creatively successful to have a smaller line of comics.

Because there's still that artistic consistency. A fill in artist typically only comes in for about an issue or two for a filler arc and then the regular artist comes back with the main story.

I think Bradshaw is the rotating artist for Wolverine & the X-Men

The original intention for Big Time was for Ramos to rotate with Stefano Caselli and Marcos Martin, but they quickly moved onto other books. Since then Giuseppe Cammuncoli has become a regular artist for the book.

That I can agree with, but it probably would be best if they just released that smaller line once a month as opposed to twice a month.

Jay looks just awful. Another example of them painting every character with the same brush. Not ever character should look modern. Jay's costume could definitely use some updating, but not at all like this. Also, losing the cap is criminal. That helmet is a crime against nature. Looks like a bug-themed hero.

I don't look forward to Alan Scott.

In my reply to you that you ignored, I named like 10 different pairs of rotating artists that were able to maintain artistic consistency.

Additionally, your claim that fill in artists just do filler arcs is downright inaccurate. Plenty of stories that feature fill in artists are issues that are integral to the overall story.

Creatively, yes.

But I doubt that be financially viable.

Wow, Jay's redesign in an atrocity, maybe the worst one yet. Horrid.

Earth NU2 is pure crap so far.

The writing is good, but just like with the Flash, the artwork, from both Williams and Reeder, is the star of this book.

The artwork is beautiful but its the writing and the fact that it stars my favourite character of all time that makes me buy the book

And we'll still have JH Williams gorgeous artwork and I'm sure that if Reeder does leave DC they'll get a good artist to replace her

It can't be worse than the last costume he had at least

i'm expecting a more X-TREME version of the sentinel costume. maybe with a leather jacket instead of a cape, with the sleeves rolled up to his elbow and fingerless gloves.

They can mess up character designs for Earth 2 all they want just have good designs for the main universe please.

dollars to doughnuts jay and alan find their way to the main continuity in short order.

A glowing green beer mug that flew

Which actually sounds :awesome:

But it really really wasn't

He'll look like a member of a bike gang with that costume :ninja:

WOW! ...and I didn't think anything could be worse than the Superman redesign. TOTALLY F***ING HORRIBLE. I'm afraid Alan's new design is going to make the Living Lantern look like a masterpiece!:wow:
(However this may be a good thing for someone like me. If they keep producing crap like this, we may see the return of the previous DCU sooner than later! :applaud)

They're never going to go back. If anything they'll reinvent again.

They might never go back to the old universe but I think they'll eventually go back to the old designs. Superman's red pants will be back and Power Girl's boob window will open again!

Yeah, I have no doubts the red and black trunks will slip back onto Clark and Bruce eventually.

I'll be honest I don't understand why so many people hate the trunks

it's no sillier than the cape or any other part of the costume
