DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 9

It's sad that we have to lose creators like Rucka, Brubaker and Morrison in the big two because of this :(

There's still plenty of good writers at the big two though like Simone, Marjorie Liu, JH Williams and Peter David for example :)

Yes but for how long.

We don't know whats going on behind the scenes. For all we know these guys might feel like how some of the other writers do who are fed up with DC and Marvel.

The fact that Peter David X-Factor and JH Williams Batwomen are largely left alone to do their thing from editorial probably helps.

Hopefully they'll all be at Marvel and DC for a long time still

I want Williams to be writing Batwoman and David to be writing X Factor for many years to come

And Marjorie Liu's Astonishing X Men is the best x men book from Marvel right now. I'm digging it so much :atp:

Image 2.0? Or since they're all writers... Script Comics?

I would totally be interested in seeing what they'd come up with.

Eh, it'd be kind of pointless.

Image already grants that same level of creative freedom and inspiration.

So is there NO editorial influence/control at Image

'Cause even though I hate Rob Liefield with so much hate I have to give a  to that if thats the case :)

Rucka has been doing some of his own stuff with comics like Stumptown

Check it out it be good stuff

Well, Image has editors. And they obviously have discression when it comes to exactly what they publish. But by and large, a creator can do whatever he wants with his creations.

The real problem is, what people really want to see, is the major DC/Marvel characters written and utilized in fresh and original ways. As spurred by talent and creativity as possible.

But, obviously, that's a double edged sword as if you get a single writer who doesn't know what he's doing, or doesn't make the right choices for the character, then everything's ****ed.

Rucka, Williams and Simone at least should be allowed to do absolutely anything they want to do at DC and/or Marvel

People like Adam Beechen or the idiot writing suicide squad though, clearly need editorial control to keep them from ruining the entire DC universe with their terrible-ness

Yeah, but every once in a while a big name writer will surprise you.

Johns was awesome. Then they started letting him do whatever he wanted, and he started sucking it.

What did i miss here? Image's the next company making a major reboot?

:(

I refuse to believe Greg Rucka's writing could ever be anything but amazing

v______v;;

Simone is normally a good writer

Apart from the utterly mediocre Batgirl anyway :(

You're joking right? Because Wolverine & the X-Men and Uncanny X-Force blow Astonishing X-Men out of the water. Everything I've seen about Liu's Astonishing X-Men has come off as bland and generic.

i don't hate johns' shazam anymore

it's so much fun

I love his Shazam backup. It's what keeps me coming back for Justice League. Issue 0 was amazing.

I have to agree with this. While Astonishing is certain a good book it doesn't come anywhere NEAR the level of greatness that is Wolverine & the X-Men and Uncanny X-Force. I wouldn't even put it above Uncanny X-Men. I just got bored and dropped it after the wedding issue.

How so? Is Billy less X-TREEEME! than his new design led us to believe?

Billy's still a little jackass, but as opposed to being "X-TREEEME" with it as the previous issues did, Johns is just having fun with it now.

Really I thought it was quite terrible.

I absolutely love it personally. It's one of my favourite Marvel books right now and stars two of my favourite Marvel characters, Karma and Northstar :hrt:

I have been digging the writing so much its second only to Batwoman in my comics top five right now. Love the way Liu writes the characters and the story :)

Uncanny X Force and Wolverine and the X men are good too though :)

Though i haven't been enjoying Wolverine and the X men as much lately because of all the A vs X nonsense in it

I hate A vs X :csad:

I stopped buying WatXM until AvX is over. :o
