DC Relaunching Everything? - Part 9

A good idea

The only A vs X tie in I liked was the Avengers Academy one

It was fab and they repeatedly mocked how stupid A vs X is in it

W&tXM and Uncanny X-Men had some decent tie-ins. Bendis did a good one in New Avengers featuring the Illuminati that, like AA, also mocked the event a bit.

It's a little less sincere when you're mocking an event that you're the one writing, though. :o

I glanced at a couple of the X-Men tie-ins. While they might have been good if you were reading AvX, I am not...so they seemed quite disorganized to me.

WatXM's tie-ins haven't been bad, but it definitely has lost a lot of coherence. Each issue just jumps to some random-ass other tie-in subplot without really developing any of the series' own ongoing plot threads much.

I absolutely love it personally. It's one of my favourite Marvel books right now and stars two of my favourite Marvel characters, Karma and Northstar :hrt:
Asides from their sexuality, what is there really to like about Karma and Northstar? The only people who like these two are hardcore New Mutants and Alpha Flight fans and in recent years, they haven't really done anything significant asides from just being there.

I have been digging the writing so much its second only to Batwoman in my comics top five right now.
Really? Batwoman is a million times better than Astonishing X-Men.

Love the way Liu writes the characters and the story :)
I find Liu to be a passable writer at best. Asides from her run on Black Widow, she really hasn't done anything that I would consider to be all that great.

Uncanny X Force and Wolverine and the X men are good too though :)
No, they're great. They're two of the best books that Marvel puts out alongside Avengers Academy, Journey into Mystery, and the Punisher.

Though i haven't been enjoying Wolverine and the X men as much lately because of all the A vs X nonsense in it

I hate A vs X :csad:
AvX blows hard.

Aside from a couple of the Vs issues, AvX has been a big letdown.

Their sexuality and how positively it is portrayed is one of the major reasons that i loves Karma and Northstar. They're both fab lgbt characters and those are the kind of characters that I care about and enjoy reading comic books about

I also love their personalities and I think Liu writes them both really well

Really? Batwoman is a million times better than Astonishing X-Men.

It is definitely better. Batwoman is my favouritest comic book of all time :)

But I really enjoy Astonishing X men too and of the comics dc and Marvel are publishing its my second favourite right now

X-23 was amazingly amazing and you know it was darn it :csad:

I think her Astonishing run has been :awesome: sauce too I loves how she writes the cast personally

I agree they're fab comic books :)

I'm going to miss Avengers Academy so much when it ends :(

The current arc of Uncanny X Force is so good I can't wait to see how the story with the Brotherhood and Evan will end

AvX blows hard.

It's a mistake on a steak :(

The sooner that lousy event comic book is over the better. And hopefully its never mentioned again

It's even worse than that Civil War and Secret Invasion nonsense :down

Hopefully when the tie ins are over it shall go back to being made of fun and good times

Also there needs to be more Broo the Brood :)

I'm not sure which is worse - Civil War for wasting what should have been a fascinatingly philosophical premise of heroes re-examining themselves and their place in the 21st century or AVX for being just plain stupid.

I kinda liked Secret Invasion. At least the main mini-series.

Which will bring you the closest you've been to heterosexuality in years. :o

^^^^^^ That was hilarious, thank you so much CC.

Indeed

Bendis should just not be allowed to write anything other than Ultimate Spiderman

Pretty much everything else he's done for Marvel has been just awful

Hm. Yes. I agree.

And I don't get why so many people are willing to give him a try on All New X-Men. The premise in general promises to be like all of BMB's books; an immediate letdown that will quickly wear out its welcome.

You mean you aren't excited to see who he writes horifically out of character first CConn? :o

I think the only X men comic books I'll be buying are Astonishing X Men, X Factor and Wolverine and the X men

Maybe the new X force book if its as good as the current one :)

I've heard some good things about X-men too so I may check that out

I'm switching from X-Force to Thunderbolts and hoping its good. :o

Speaking of Liu... I agree with Misty in that X-23 was a fantastic series. That series made me want a Liu-written Gambit ongoing. Sadly, it went to someone else :(

Liu did an amazing job on the X-23 series

It was one of my favourite Marvel comic books :hrt:

A Gambit series by her could have been cool but I'm happy we got an Astonishing X men book by her instead as I like Northstar and Karma better than Gambit

Remy is in the series though too so if you dig him you should pick up Astonishing X men if you arent already Hobbit

It be fab stuff

A thoroughly derailed one, yeah. :)

Um... I'm kind of low on stuff to talk about from DC these days... Oh, how about that Sword of Sorcery, huh? Lots of changes to the details of Amethyst's origin, but I think there's some potential there. It seems like they might even be going for a more Conan-esque sword-and-sorcery style this time instead of the pure fantasy of the original version, which is okay with me. It seems pretty clear that Amy's mom will die almost immediately and leave Amy in command of the resistance against Nilaa's (the name of which is my least favorite part of the reboot--Gemworld worked just fine) queen.

While I lost interest in it toward the very end, I would say his Daredevil was far from awful.

His Daredevil was great.

I read the first few issues, through the Wedding issue, but my budget being what it is I had to make drops and it was sadly axed. It wasn't bad by any means but of the titles I did read it was at the bottom. I may eventually come back to it.
