Then he should just do out of continuity stuff.

If you're gonna work on a main book that affects the continuity as a whole, then you better f**kin' share! :argh:

Or not, I don't really give a s**t. :o

Morrison doesn't have any problems with Action Comics. :o

The only one's he's screwing over are ones by writers that aren't very good.

Supergirl has been solid, and Superman's been utilized perfectly fine in JL.

When Morrison was controlling everything in Batman's universe, other writers were still able to utilize the character effectively as well.

It's been reported that Morrison just isn't sharing what he's doing in Action Comics and because of piss-poor editorial not being all that co-operative, it's been very challenging for the writers of Superman to form a cohesive narrative with Morrison's vision.

Scott Lobdell may be a bad writer, but you certainly can't say that George Perez and Dan Jurgens are. As a matter in fact, Perez has come out in public complaining about the frustrations he had with the book:

"I had no idea Grant Morrison was going to be working on another Superman title, I had no idea I was doing it five years ahead, which means, my story I couldn’t do certain things without knowing what he did, and Grant wasn’t telling everybody, so I was kind of stuck, who exists, DC couldn’t give me answers. Oh my gosh, you’re deciding all these things and you mean even you don’t know what’s going on in your books… so I became very frustrated…"

Never read Supergirl, I was kinda pissed that they pretty much did away with Gates' progression of the character. And Justice League is the only other book that DC is allowing anything significant to happen to the character of Superman.

When Morrison was controlling everything in Batman's universe, other writers were still able to utilize the character effectively as well.
Because even though Morrison wasn't being as co-operative as Scott Snyder with other writers, he at least delivered a clear vision for the Batbooks when he was in charge of the line. But I would say that the Batman line is even better now with Snyder in charge and working with the other writers as opposed to Morrison being in charge.

Neither Perez nor Jurgens have been all that lauded as writers, and I don't think anyone was surprised both of their runs turned out to be little more than filler.

If you put Tomasi or Snyder or Hurwitz on a Superman book, they'd be pretty awesome. Just like the Batbooks are currently. I guarantee you that.

Considering that Morrison is leaving Action Comics and editorial doesn't dick around with writers like Snyder or Tomasi the way they have with Perez, Jurgens, and Lobdell, I would agree with your guarantee.

Also Perez and Jurgens are awesome writers!

well DC did tell morrison he could do whatever he wanted as a condition of writing action comics

There's a difference between doing whatever he wanted to do and being so uncooperative with the other writers to the point it hurts the other Superman book.

from what morrison and perez have said in interviews, it seems like a combination of morrison not being entirely sure what superman's present day is going to look like, and editorial attempting to keep all of the other superman books in the present day--while not communicating and re-writing s*** left and right.

I think they should just keep the original number inside the book along with all of the other legal fine print.
The best way to do it was what they did with Adventure Comics but when Johns was writing Superboy where the variant had the original numbering and the regular issue had the new numbering.

The facr that Morrison hasn't told the other writers at DC what he's doing is pretty ridiculous. He's writing an origin book for Superman in the new 52 that means the other writers need to know whats actually going to happen in it so that the present day stories match up to the past

I guess we know why Lex and the rest of his rogues haven't shown up in any of present day books

No one knows if they exist or not

Lex hasn't shown up yet? Maybe his intro can be saved for Snyder's "Man of Steel" book.

Yep he's only appeared in Action Comics in Superman's origin story so far

is it morrisons job to be in contact with writers of other titles? it seems like editorial should be the ones communicating.

Morrison doesn't communicate.

Morrison's wife communicates.

She commumnicates what he says while in a drug induced trance speaking with his alien god masters in the fifth dimension :ninja:

He should at the very least give an idea to the other Superman writers a vague idea of what he's doing. In today's comic book industry we have the Batman writers gathering together, the Avengers writers gathering together, the Green Lantern writers gathering together, and so on, the very least Morrison can do is at least give a 5 minute phone call.

But yeah, you're absolutely right about the editorial. They clearly aren't doing their jobs, hence why I firmly believe that the problems with Superman is not a writing problem, it's an editorial problem.

Hopefully when Morrison finishes his Action Comics storyline set in the past the present day Superman book will improve

If DC editorial keeps ****ing around with it, I doubt it. Plus Lobdell is on the book, so I don't have much faith in it to begin with.

Isn't idelson off the superman group now? that could change things

REALLY?!? :wow: because if so then I'm about to do the safety dance in celebration :woot:

You can dance if you want to

You can leave your friends behind

'Cause your friends dont dance and if they don't dance then there no friends of mine
