DC to "Rebirth" in June - Part 1

Hope you're right. But it's no secret what Riddler did and yet he's working with Riddler. Maybe there's some redemption around the corner such as "Batman has been working with Kite Man all along as a double cross" but as a father of two young boys, I can say that this story killing Kite Man's child the way it did and having Batman fail the boy like he did (remember, he told Kite Man that the boy was all right and just had a cold. He failed to recognize that he'd been poisoned) made me physically ill.

Yeah, and I read something about the upcoming JL arc "Lost" revolving around a sleep deprived Batman ****ing something up majorly. Maybe they're getting an early start on that, and he's going to be ****ing up alot inbetween now and then, and whatever happens in JL is just the straw that breaks the camel's back.

I like how people keep saying it was predictable. Wasn't everyone and their mother saying it would be Ozymandias?

Indeed, twas my prediction as well. I'm guessing that this means Superman (as a title, at least) won't have much involvement with The Doomsday Clock arc.

Ozy's hand on Lex? :wow: And whose costume is that?

The costume is a mystery to me. If Johns hadn't already said that this story isn't meant to be a "Watchmen sequel", the Nostalgia items might make me think that it could be a post-Watchmen costumed hero in that world, but I don't know...

It's not a Watchmen sequel? So where is it supposed to fall in the time line? Or is it an alternate Watchmen?

I think by "not a sequel", they mean that it won't continue any plot threads from Watchmen. It makes sense, but it's pretty hazy.

As far as where it falls in the timeline, I really don't see how it matters.

I think it matters a lot. It could change what characters are actually alive and what political climate they're in.

Right... like whether Rorschach is still alive or Dr. Manhattan's view of humanity. If DC moves the story forward with these characters and it doesn't fit comfortably somewhere in the Watchmen continuity, I feel that it would cheapen their inclusion in the DC Universe.

I mean, I'm not exactly a stickler for continuity so whether something "fits" or not is no big deal to me. While I'm a huge Alan Moore fan, but not so huge as to be a fanatic, I already think that including the Watchmen characters into the DCU proper kind of cheapens them, especially if they're just using them to explain away the New52 and other continuity discrepancies (kind of like the Superman Reborn arc: a big 3 issue storyline whose only purpose was to give Superman a new costume, and explain away New52 Superman).

Which is why I said it doesn't quite matter. At least for me.

If the story sucks, everyone'll just kinda forget about it or ignore it. If it's good, I'm more interested to see how they're gonna follow up on it. Because I'm not exactly keen on seeing a "The Generic Superheroic Adventures of Nite-Owl" ongoing comic.

I haven't picked up 'Tec (and won't until the trade is out), but I hear Tim [blackout] is back to his old origin, and not the New52 version anymore. [/blackout]

just read the latest Action Comics

I'm still not entirely convinced that Oz is really Jor-El. Still feels like there's another twist coming and "Jor-El" isn't who he says.

Or maybe he is. we shall see.

Regardless, does it seem like they are setting up Dr. Manhattan??

Jor-El was "saved" by some mysterious, omnipotent power that could bend time/space to his will, with a blue light effect to boot. when I read that I immediately thought of Manhattan.

Nah Action flat out owns Detective. Tynions writing is just cliched, nostalgia driven and filled with fanboyism.

Action had substance, it was dark as hell. Tec just retold an old backstory and then introduced a lame character from Johns Teen Titans era and had Tim do the same he always does under Tynion's pen. This Tim could hack Darkseid's omega beams and Daredevil's radar sense, utterly non sensical writing and then it tries to present the false illusion that Tim is important to Doomsday Clock (kind of how Dick "headlined" Forever Evil")

I agree Detective was better than Action. Though, yes, Tim has been too...capable, in Detective. But it was still overall better than Action. Oz's motivations as laid out in Action are just eye roll inducing and tired cliches.

Because it's the internet and we need to fight about it until we find out which side is the nazis.

Of course that's what they're setting up.

Another pretty strong week for Rebirth all around, although the Batman Beyond "Women" interlude was super lame.

Still no word about Kon-El, right? With such a big emphasis on Tim and Superman in this Rebirth story, I hope they don't miss the opportunity to bring him back into the fold. He's the perfect bridge between the two.

Anyone been reading the Metal tie-ins? Last weeks Batman The Red Death and this weeks Batman The Murder Machine were both great.

Yes, I have been, and I gotta say that I'm definitely enjoying Metal overall so far. So far, it has been well-planned and orchestrated. I like that it's mostly a multiverse-related event, which means they can have fun and go wild with everything, without ****ing up the main continuity in any significant way. It's definitely more interesting and unique than whatever the hell Marvel was trying to do with Secret Empire, and less intrusive in terms of how it affects the main ongoing storylines across all the books.

The art in Batman: The Murder Machine was excellent.

I haven't been reading the whole thing, but I picked up Tom King's issue of the Kamandi challenge and thought it was pretty damn great.

The art was awesome agreed  I also agree I like that it involves the multiverse, allows for a lot of room with creativity.

The Nightwing, Teen Titans and Suicide Squad tie ins were off the freaking chain.

I want more team ups with Nightwing Green Arrow and Harley. They all have had a neat dynamic among each other in all of the books.
