DC to "Rebirth" in June - Part 2

Bleeding Cool with some big rumors/speculations... DC possibly doing a relaunch later this year with their own Fresh Start initiative:

Grant Morrison on Green Lantern
Kelly Sue DeConnick on Aquaman
Brian Azzarello on Suicide Squad

Hm, interesting.
Of course doing a relaunch is stupid...but expected.
That will be how it is, all couple of years reboots or relaunches...gotta keep things "fresh".
Batman does need a relaunch however.(i will never let it go) :woot:

Action comics 1000 was nice, nothing too special in terms of the storytelling but what it did, it did well enough.
Everything was nicely drawn and felt good.
However to get back to the trunks discussion for a moment, i really outlived them.
I couldnt help but cringe with every panel they had superman wearing the speedos, they throw me off so much by now.
Its so incredible outdated to me.

I'd be down for that too. He wrote a good amount of Kyle during his JLA run. I want to see him write Hal though as I'm interested in what he'd do with him.

I want Kyle to return to being a White Lantern.

Outdated for you...classic for me. Superman just looks wrong without them, as far as I'm concerned. As does Batman, for that matter. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose...

With regards to Action Comics #1000, I thought it was a bit meh but nice enough. I would have liked to have seen John Byrne involved in some way, as his run on Superman has a real sentimental draw for me.

Grant Morrison doing Green Lantern sounds cool - as long as he doesn't overdo the weird stuff.

Anyone reading the Mera stand alone? What do you all think about the newer domesticated Orm?

I finally read AC #1000 last night. Of the nine stories written, I loved seven of them because they were so "Superman". By that, I mean they were uplifting stories that left me smiling and feeling pretty good about humanity's future which is what I expect from Superman in general.

The Fifth Season by Snyder; it's not that I didn't like it but it confused me. What was the, I guess, lesson or message that he wanted to convey from Supes' and Luthor's conversation? And I certainly didn't dislike The Truth (even though I still have my reservations about Bendis tackling Superman) but it was a lead-in to another story so, whatevz.

Current Batman arc started really provocative but really didn’t do itself any favors in this last issue. Who the &@$/ was that female character? Because that monstrosity wasn’t Catwoman on any level.

Eh. It's alternate dimension/time travel nonsense so as far as I'm concerned, any and everything is on the table.

On that note, I really don't like alternate dimension/time travel stories since they really lack weight and seem pretty pointless.

I'm curious to see what the payoff with this story is. But otherwise, it's just Booster Gold destroying the lives of alternate reality characters that we'll never see again. Big whoop.

I was all looking forward to Doomsday clock but have found myself slightly bored and disappointed. I mean first the long wait between issues makes it hard to get in to. Second Superman was supposed to play a big part in this but has only been seen once.

I'll give it a few more issues but if it doesn't pick up I'm going cancel the title pick it up when comes out in Trade Paper Back.

Thanks for asking. I really felt like I must not be hip to the kids’ jive these days.

I like Cheung's Joker. I do not like that new JL logo.

I have a question regarding Reverse Flash. Are there two of them? I always thought he was Eobard Thawne, but apparently so is Professor Zoom? Yeah, n00b question, I know.

Eobard Thawne has been called both Reverse Flash and Professor Zoom over the years.

Where as Hunter Zolomon has also been referred to as Zoom.

Loving Dianas gladiator look. Apart from the eagles on the boots.

I love it. There's admittedly a cheese factor, but it's head and shoulders above the logo they've gone with since the New 52 kicked off.

Can someone explain to me wtf just happened in the end of Batman #47?

As someone who has very truly been enjoying King's on Batman....

Nope.

The story didn't even come close to the solicited narrative and I'm still at a loss for what the hell actually went on. This is probably King's worst arc thus far. I'm usually pretty forgiving when it comes to character interpretation if the story is there, but this version of Booster Gold was too far off the mark in a story that just didn't come close to connecting. This is probably gonna be one of those COMICS! moments that is explained away in another book by King or something. I think he's doing more work with the character later so who knows.

Still, I'm interested in the Joker arc in the next two issues and I'm excited for the wedding and the Catwoman solo book.

I don't think King has done any guest characters right. From his WTF Booster Gold, to his Borat-speaking Wonder Woman, to his Swamp Thing that acts talks like the black wheelchair kid from Malcolm in the Middle for REASONS, has King gotten any guest character right?

I guess Superman.
