DC Universe Online - Part 2

Personally I enjoy them. Besides my main character The Venator I created an electric based hero a few weeks back called Red Surge. I prefer DPSing with him only because with the right load out and weapon combo can you be a force and create heavy damage. But I go into healer role when dueling and fights can usually last quite long. My choice of weapon was the staff.

As of late I've been doing arenas on my own as V and ran into some well geared/expert electricity users. Yeah, wasn't fun. :o

downloaded it off psn last night cause it said it was free
was a bit confused when i read the terms and conditions stuff

do i have to pay to play it or is that just like dlc purposes or something ?

Yea it's completely free to play but u can pay for additional characters, Item slots, things like that.

Should already be in your inventory for you to add in your collection. I got mine but don't really care for it as I've never worn a cape with any of my characters and because my main is an archer. :o

On a more personal note, I just crossed 19 million in cash today!

How do you get that 1 year cape ?

It will be in your journal under "completed".

How did you do that? I've been playing since April and my character with the most money is only slightly above $250,000.

The broker man! Once you have a weapon or item you don't need you can sell it in the broker room for whatever amount of money. Someone is sure to buy it. Once they have you'll receive an e-mail about it and the money will automatically end up in your menu.

Currently selling high are packs of the new Exobits. People are making billions. I'm going to try and auction off some that I've collected but having a lot of cash really does help in this game...a lot.

Yeah, I probably under sell my items on the broker.

I'm loving the hard light powers! I'm on the PS3 pve server if anyone wants to add me. Tovir Tehran.

DC Universe Online's upcoming game update is all about easier grouping

If you've been enjoying DC Universe Online ever since the game switched business models, odds are good you're looking toward the endgame by now. Game Update 9, which is coming soon, will make getting into that endgame even easier via the addition of Novice Raids. This new difficulty setting still allows players to experience all the storyline of Fortress of Solitude, Kahndaq, and the Batcave, but the difficulty will be notched down so that players can get a better feel for what they're doing.

Of course, if you're not into the endgame rush, you've still got something to look forward to with the new role-optional alerts system. In essence, players will now be able to queue for Alerts without needing to put together a balanced group; in the event that a role is missing, a team buff will be applied to ensure that the area can still be cleared. That means that even with nothing but Damage characters, you can still explore all of DC Universe Online's group content, something that should allow for some novel player approaches once the update goes live.

[Update: SOE has also issued a statement about plans for the game's PvP in 2012. The full quote is after the cut.] Continue Reading

I'm a big PVPer, so I'm happy about a DLC being centered around that.

Got a couple of questions, I downloaded this game about a month ago and I love it. I have my hero at lvl 26 and my villain at lvl 17.

I found out there are 3 sets of players, free (1), next highest (2), highest (3). I forget the names but it depends how much money you spend. So to get to the next stage I have to spend $5. Then the highest is like $15 a month.

Is that $5 a month or just $5 and that's it? If I do spend the $5, am I put on a different server where I can't play against other free players anymore (I've never seen anyone over 30)?

What's included if I do spend the $5, how many character spots? Level cap? etc.

Thanks for the help.

- It's a one time $5. So if you buy the DLC, for example, you would forever be a Premium member. Legendary is the only monthly charge.

- You stay on the same server, 30 is the highest level in the game. You advance at 30 by grinding for high level gear.

- With Premium you get 6 character slots, 42 inventory slots, 5 auction slots, 24 bank slots, the ability to trade items, 2000 max in-game currency, Voice chat, a vault ticket every 3 days, and the ability to send items in the mail.

DCUO's game update 9 brings the world together with role-optional alerts and team buffs

DC Universe Online's Game Update 9: Assemble For Battle is now live and operational, and it brings with it a few very interesting features, especially for players interested in group content. One of said features is the addition of role-optional alerts. As any MMO player knows, there's often a rather large population disparity between various roles. Generally, there's a ton of DPS with much lower numbers of tanks and healers, which can make finding a group a PITA if you're in the former camp.

As of this update, all alerts are considered role-optional, which means the longer a group waits in the group-finder for a certain role (such as a tank or a healer), the less picky the group-finder will be about filling that role. For instance, if a healer can't be found after a substantial period of time, the role will be filled by another available role. This is possible thanks to the team buff. Any time three or more group members are within range and line-of-sight of one another, the whole group will gain a buff to compensate for missing roles. For instance, a group missing a tank will get a damage mitigation buff, a group without a healer will get a health regeneration buff, and so forth. The official post notes that "the buffs are by no means a replacement for having the actual role in your group. But with some self-reliance, it will... allow you to complete the Alert successfully." For the full details on the new system, plus other features such as Novice Raids, click on through the link below to the official site.

Never get lost in DCUO’s Watchtower again with this detailed fan-made map

DC Universe does a lot of things really well, but building easily-navigable hangout spots is not one of them. The Justice League Watchtower and Hall of Doom serve as the primary meeting points for all Hero and Villain characters, respectively. Both house a ton of useful objects—like the Phase Shifter, which allows you to swap between PvE and PvP phases of the server at will—but not all of them are easy to find.
The cryptically-named RedDragon74 over at DCUO Life has done heroes a great service by putting together an all-encompassing map that labels the locations of everything you’ll need in the Watchtower and also provides a full list of bounty locations and a complete breakdown of how to earn the different PvE currencies at endgame. It’s not the prettiest map ever made, but all the info is here.
