Even though I haven't played in a while I love the continued support this is continuing to have. I just haven't had time with all the other games I'm juggling.

Producer's letter details DCUO 'remastered'

DC Universe Online's Update 31 is on its way, and with it come some of the biggest changes ever implemented to the game's core design and appearance. Executive producer Larry Liberty today outlined the key points in a letter to the community, explaining to players what they can expect from Update 31 and beyond.

According to Liberty, the bulk of Update 31 focuses on preparing DCUO for its impending PS4 launch. Changes include graphics upgrades like higher resolution textures and area redesigns, along with a "remastering" of the core leveling experience. Leveling from 1-30 has seen special attention; Liberty noted that new players should see a smoother progression of content with less chance of being stuck without a mission.

Update 31 is tentatively scheduled for a November launch on PC and PS3. The game's PS4 release is still on track to match up with the console's release window.

DC Universe Online shows off major graphical upgrades

Sometimes all it takes is a graphical improvement to make a game feel new. DC Universe Online has to keep its graphics at a level the PlayStation 3 can use, but with the pending release of the PlayStation 4, the game is going to be able to offer better textures and lighting all around. You can check out a preview video past the break to see what the game will look like with the visual upgrades.

But that's not the only thing coming along with the new patch; in order to ease new players on the PS4 into the game, the game's early leveling has been revamped and improved and several areas have had environmental details and quest flow updated as well. So experienced players can enjoy looking at a world in greater detail and new players will find it easier than ever to get into the game. That seems like a pretty solid update. Continue Reading

Alter Ego: Issue #1 - Kid Critical in DC Universe Online

Some intergalactic psychopath called Brainiac covets the Earth. He's trying to digitize the lot of us, see, only his exobyte technology has some... unforeseen side effects. At the risk of going all science whiz on you, I'll just say that these nanite exobyte gizmos transformed hundreds of humans into uber-powerful ubermensch. Mutants or even metahumans, if you'd prefer. We're superheroes, really, when you get right down to it.

It's a good thing, too, because Earth's real superheroes couldn't stop Brainiac. Superman, Batman, the Justice League, all of them failed. Even supervillains attempted to save mankind, for a time at least. Before long, though, they did what villains do: They leveraged chaos and exploited disorder for their own selfish ends.

So, yep, it's pretty much business as usual but for the meglomaniacal space invader bent on destroying both sides. Me, I'm just a soldier in this new war, one of a fortunate few gifted with the power of Brainiac's buggy exobytes. Before all this I was a nobody. A minor game critic or some such silliness. Now, my friends just call me the kid. You can call me Kid Critical. Massively's DCUO Comic 'Alter Ego' Issue #1: Kid Critical

PlanetSide 2's release on PS4 delayed to 2014, DCUO still set for launch

Although PlanetSide 2 was originally announced to be available on the PlayStation 4 right when the console launches later this year, that release has been delayed until early 2014. PS2 was noticeably absent from list of launch games on the PS4's newly released FAQ, and SOE CEO John Smedley confirmed the delay in an interview on Bloomberg TV.

According to the FAQ, DC Universe Online is still slated to release as a launch title in North America and also the UK, whereas the PS4 will hit nearly two weeks after the NA edition. As free-to-play titles, neither PS2 nor DCUO will require a PlayStation Plus membership when it does launch on the PS4.

DCUO’s PlayStation®4 Launch Date Confirmed!
DC Universe Online has announced that it would be ready for the PlayStation®4 System on the day the system itself launches in North America, November 15th, 2013!

If you are planning on getting a PlayStation®4 or, even better, if you have already pre-ordered, you won’t have to wait much longer to see what DCUO can do on this next-generation console. As a new or returning player logging in on the PS4, you will find a robust and thriving world awaiting you, fresh with a game-wide graphical upgrade, a remastered and polished leveling experience, and all of your new and old friends and characters.

Cross-platform play comes to DC Universe Online... on consoles

It's always been just a little frustrating for players of DC Universe Online that you can't always play with your friends. If you play on your computer and your best friend is on her PlayStation 3, well, the two of you just aren't going to be able to team up. But starting with the launch of the game on PlayStation 4, players will be able to experience cross-platform play, assuming the two platforms are the PS3 and the PS4.

Creative director Jens Andersen confirmed that all console players will be able to work together on the same servers, thus ensuring that old-school players and new console players will coexist. Andersen also confirmed that while the launch version will not make use of the system's new controller, it's possible that more controller support will be introduced further down the line. This is good news if your friends are on the same platform, although PC users will still have to simply look on with longing.

That is just slightly misleading of a title. Everyone knew it would be ps3/4 compatible.

DC Universe Online: Jens Andersen on Bringing DCUO to the PS4

In the next couple of weeks, big changes will come to the world with the launch of the Playstation 4. DC Universe Online players will also benefit from the console's launch as PS4 players will flood into the game.

Fans of DC Universe have a lot to celebrate this coming week. With the launch of the PS4 coming to North America players will be able to find DC Universe Online among the playable titles on the new console (starting November 15th). It was a huge step for SOE to get ready for the new system. Jens Andersen, the Creative Director on DCUO spoke with us about the amazing updates coming to the game. He also explains to fans playing on the PS3 that they will not be forgotten at all. Here is some of what Jens had to say.

We also spoke briefly about Game Update 32 which will bring players back into the Green Lantern storyline. Jens explained that it was another area they could really enhance the game. Now players will see piles of ash and fog when they enter the zones. They did not have these elements in the game before.
The biggest thing that Jens stressed was the team’s willingness to work on the PS4 launch and how much Sony supported them in the effort. There are always high expectations for the next generation games on the new consoles and DC Universe was able to meet those criteria. Even minor elements like the new controller were adapted and added to make for a better experience. Jens explained that once you get out of the tutorial there are two massive cities you have to explore. The team was able to make the entire world work within the new platform. Jens also stressed that you do not need a PlayStation Plus account to play.

So when everyone is sitting down to their new game consoles, one of the game you will be able to play this Holiday season on your shiny new PS4 is DC Universe Online. Hats off to the team for getting this ready and growing online games into the next generation. We have said many times that these new consoles will host a lot of MMOs. It’s great to see DC Universe out there from day so early.

I want to play this game again so f'n bad,I had it when it first came out but my dumb ass got rid of the game and deleted all saves a few months before it was announced it was going F2P,I don't have the patience or the will to leave my PS3 on all day or more to download it again,I tried it a few months ago where I left my console on for over 7 hours as it was installing and when I checked on it..not even half of it was installed!

I had the PS4 pre-ordered but decided to wait till early next year to get it and now my dumb ass has such an urge to play it on the new console,I'm not a PC gamer and only have a laptop that doesn't even work right now and so that ain't an option either!

I'm really sorry to hear that. I'm about to head out now. But I'll say this, if and when you do pick up the ps4, have this as one the first games you pick for it. And that control for the ps4 will work well with pcs too.

Since that game was made to work with that controller on ether. But I'll suggest not using a lab top for an MMO or ARPg. Those will overload the laptop's. Well unless your one of those laptops that can rival desktops.

Thanx and I appreciate the suggestion,I just hope this game(including installation)qualifies for PS4's"play as you download"feature!!

I forgot how it was before but is it easy&fast enough to rank up?

It wasn't like that. That's something as I said in the ps4 thread that only started recently. I was in the Beta for both this marvel heroes and STO(star trek online) and stayed a bit for 3.

(I'm still on the Marvel heroes, one. And I'm supposed to return to the DCUO PC side as some buddies I have to keep a promise to.)

Before them and it was marvel heroes that has that feature and few others from last year with some certain games . Ok I'm out later.
