Dead Rising 2, Possible trailer leak?

I couldn't find a paddle to make the paddle-saw with when I played last night. Where the heck is the paddle?

Anyway, my favorite weapons were the spiked bat, the broadsword, and the electric rake.

its to the side of the abandoned building behind the van where the shopkeeper is

Balls, that's like right outside the gas station. :o

I think I'm gonna go achievement-hunting tonight. I don't usually care about achievements, but there's only like 3 left that I haven't unlocked just by playing through Case Zero for fun.

Speaking of the achievements, does anyone know if the one for building all the combo weapons requires you to do it all in one play-through?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't. My last time through the game I went in specifically to get the achievement and I focused on the ones I was missing first. It feels like forever ago, but I'm pretty sure I got it in the new game after I made the two I was missing.

Eh, it turned out it didn't matter. I just found a list of all the combo items online and ran around collecting/building whatever I happened upon first. I finished all of my remaining achievements pretty easily last night. The one that took the longest was spending $100,000 at Dick's pawn shop. By the time I finished collecting and building combo items and killing 1,000 zombies, it was well past the window to save Gemini and Fausto, so I couldn't get Gemini's easy money. I ended up having to do another playthrough to spend enough. Then I just went ahead and did all of the missions and left that as my final, pre-DR 2 playthrough with the A ending.

Anyway, I happened to spot a 2-pack of Dead Rising and Bioshock at Sam's Club yesterday for $30, so I bought it. Now I can finally try to finish DR. I just hope its little faults don't become much worse than I remembered them and prevent me from enjoying it again. I've had that happen with older games before.

I tried the Dead Rising: Case Zero Demo on Live & then when I saw that they kept the stupid ass Bathroom Save System that immediately made Case Zero & Dead Rising: 2 a no buy for me as I hated the Save System from the first one

They do include an option to save without a bathroom after you complete missions, thankfully.

It's in the full Case Zero game. I don't know about the demo 'cause I just bought Case Zero straight away.

This game just keeps getting better & better. I can't wait for the epilogue with Frank returning. :D

Is that new system in the demo or no ? It was not mentioned

After every mission you complete it lets you save, and the bathrooms are never that far away anyway.

I never understood that issue with the first game. Even big franchises like GTA ask you to go back to a safe house to save. There were plenty of bathrooms in the mall and I never had any problems with finding one to save in.

Getting back to a safehouse in GTA was never quite as much of a b**** as getting anywhere in Dead Rising. So long as you're not on a mission and you don't accidentally sideswipe any cops, nothing really happens in GTA. In Dead Rising you can get waylaid by any number of things, especially those f***ing criminals in the outdoor area. Although, my issue with that was never really saving, since there are indeed bathrooms around for a quick save; my issue was trying to drag the horrible AI survivors through that crap back to the safe room.

I actually just started playing the first game again tonight. Things I didn't like the first time around that I like even less now:

1) No moving while you aim, plus an aiming system where everything is backwards from how shooters have basically standardized it since DR. Hold the right trigger to aim and move the reticle with the left stick? Bwuh? Oh well, at least DR 2 fixed that particular problem. :o

2) Taking pictures. Yeah, yeah, Frank's a photojournalist. I do not care. I take pictures based on vaguely remembered instances from my first playthrough where I know they're worth a lot. Otherwise, f*** it. I'll get my PP killing zombies and psychos, thanks.

3) Two words: O. Tis. :argh:

But otherwise, I'm enjoying it. I screwed up the first survivor missions by accidentally hitting Burt, though, so I just quit the game. I'll reload it tomorrow and try again.

Yes, AI and no move-shoot controls were the big issues with the first one. I also don't really enjoy the boss fights either.

Because of the no-move thing, the boss fights for me tended to be either mad dashes if I only had melee weapons or a constant search for some "sweet spot" where I could shoot with impunity if I had a gun or two. So yeah, I guess you could say I didn't enjoy them either. Jed in Case Zero was more enjoyable than all of DR's psycho fights put together. :o

I really like now that when doing escort missions the people will fight back and that the zombies will target you more than them. Makes things alot less frustrating.

i lost the disc of the 1st game - shame cos i would def replayed it - loved it so much even despite the flaws mentioned

Not to mention that they run at a reasonable pace and don't get stuck on things as often. The survivor AI is vastly improved for DR 2, if Case Zero is any indication.

I actually just reached my threshold for the survivors in DR 1 earlier today. After I carried Ross' ass all the way to Paradise Plaza and entered with Tonya just a few steps behind me, only to find that Tonya actually still wasn't close enough to enter with me, and then Ross wouldn't actually climb the damned ledge up to the air duct entrance on his own, I just said "f*** it." I'm done bothering with survivors for that game.

So, did anyone buy Dead Rising 2; and if so how is it?

I started playing it yesterday. I made it to early morning on Day 2. Thankfully, the times for most of the missions don't seem to be quite as insanity-inducing as the first game's. The fact that the survivors' AI has improved to the point that, if you give them shotguns, they can actually be used as reliable backup helps immensely. I abandoned survivors in the first game all the time because they were so unbelievably horrible at doing anything that I'd have wasted another 2 or 3 hours shepherding them carefully back to the safehouse. Oh, that's another thing: the safehouse entrance is so much easier to get to in this game than that awful rooftop vent in the first. It's a lot of fun so far.

Just got this today liking it so far, the amount of customizing you can do is superb. Loving beating the **** outta zombies, however like Prototype.. my guess is it will grow old on me after I complete the story.

I'm looking forward to playing it again after I finish the first time, personally. This first time is a b****, what with my low level, limited inventory slots, and total ignorance of where everything is and whether each new side mission is a relatively easy rescue or a psycho. That's the main thing that's ruining my times: I'll take a detour away from my main case while the timer bar's a decent, yellow length only to find that the detour is actually a psycho, spend over an hour of game time deducing their pattern and killing them with whatever I happen to have on me, and then wind up having to haul ass to make it to the case location I was originally going for in time. It'll be much easier when I have an idea of what happens when and I can plan accordingly.
