Domino looks horrible. She's supposed to be an albino since that's a core part of her character. Also, Domino needs short hair. This design doesn't work.

Her being black isn't an excuse. Domino has a distinct look. She doesn't need to be white. There are different depictions of her that aren't strictly white. They could give her more of a grey/ashen hue with a dark black eye spot. And that hair has to go.

Also the costume isn't that great either. Domino's costume shouldn't be that hard to adapt.

no she doesn't lol aquaman also has short hair in the comics and he is far more iconic than domino

Her being black isn't an excuse. It's a gimmick. "How can we play it out in her design? Let's invert her colors."

I was dying to see the pic above on the big screen, but when they announced what's her name, all was lost.

I agree. The only time when Domino showed any skin was a brief period in the mid 90s. The sleeveless look doesn't work. I want a comic accurate domino. None of this long hair, sleeveless and not an albino stuff.

I dig the concept look, because I like how they incorporated her ethnicity into the design. I would like it much less if they just painted her white. It just doesn't fit. Doesn't work.

It's a massive departure, but I think they kept the essence with this new design.

Ultimately performance is what matters...

...but Domino's design is pretty weak. Was hoping they would get a bit more creative. If the completely unnatural chalk white makeup was out of the question for whatever reason, they could use a more light blue or grey tone. Costume wise things could be stronger as well.

Zazie's hair >>>>>>> the comics

Domino's concept look seems like they just took some left over costumes they had in storage from when Jennifer Garner played Elekta in Daredevil. After Deadpool 1 gave us such screen accurate costumes, it's horrible that Domino would in turn get "sexualized" and have her showing so much skin or no reason what so ever.

This is laughable. Domino in the comics is extremely sexualized and this concept features no mid drift and barely any cleavage compared to the black widow

Oh no she has bare arms... Think of the children!

Okay, so while everyone's going back and forth...is there any confirmation that these mock-ups are even real or just something from maybe someone's DeviantArt page?

Domino's outfit should basically be exactly what you just posted. Except for times when artists draw her with the zipper down to show off cleavage, she has traditionally be in a complete body suit just like what Negasonic had in the last movie (all be it with a different color scheme and some tactical accessories). They couldn't sexualize the underage girl but Domino is different, they can remove parts of her outfit and show off more skin just for the hell of it.

Based off your two comments in regards to this lazy as hell costume design, I bet you would have accepted Reynolds just wearing his Wolverine Origins outfit instead of the red and black suit and would have made excuses for that as well.

I don't see those guys cheering another Batakapool. They just have different opinions. No need to get antsy. Chill.

You are 100% correct. I'm known to defend FoX costume decisions

I mean, Fox hasn't sent out cease and desist orders yet, so they're probably on the more real side.

I wouldn't get too worked up over Dom's costume. Like people have been saying, it's not a hard thing to adapt since it's just a body suit. This is one of many designs and they'll put her in body suit like everyone else.

I really don't care if it would, "mean less." A huge part of the reason why I like Domino as a character is because of her original design. And "incorporating her ethnicity into the design" is stupid because Domino ultimately has no real heritage to speak of. She's an artificial mutant grown in a lab and has never shown any affinity towards any culture or another. If they wanted to show off that Domino in this continuity is black, then they could have given her cornrows instead of an afro since she's had short hair since the late-90s.

It's like when DC hired an English Actor to play an Irish Bane despite the fact that he's supposed to be from a fictional South American country. Bane was far less interesting as a white guy.

Or when Marvel decided to use an English actor to play an American Mandarin despite the fact that Mandarin is Mongolian and his character has always been a deeply reactionary character obsessed with the loss of his empire and the way that China has overtaken Mongolia when his people used to be in charge. Killian was ultimately nothing more than an evil Tony Stark and you had none of the past/future contrast between the two men anymore. And Mandarin was far less interesting as a result.

And then there were not one but two takes on the Fantastic Four where the Storms were opposite race siblings which made no sense.

And a white Ra's Al Ghul despite the fact that Arab actors only ever appear on Homeland, 24 and nowhere else unless you're Rami Malek.

There are ways to change a character's race for the better. I feel like an Asian Elektra was the right way to go since she was trained by Japanese ninjas. I liked Idris Elba and Vondie Curtis Hall as Heimdall and Ben Urich far better than I did their counterparts in the source material. Native Hawaiian Aquaman? Sure since nothing about Aquaman ever really stuck me as, "has to be a white guy." I was originally against Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie since she's the only Swedish superhero in the Marvel U but then I learned that Marvel were making her into a completely new character and TBH I always saw Valkyrie as a lame character and Tessa Thompson was the best part of Creed. And you know what, aside from Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, none of these characters lost any part of what makes them unique (and Valkyrie was never all that great of a character anyway).

Does a black Domino bother me? In theory, no. But when they change the haircut, the costume and no longer make her an albino, it feels like she's Domino in name only. And the no longer albino part really bugs me more than anything else since she's literally the only albino superhero. I'm fine with Zazzie Beetz but they really do need to change her makeup, give her a haircut and put her in a costume that's skintight but has her cover up. Her albinism is literally part of the character and something that IMO can't be changed. I wanted to see what Zazzie would do with the role but if Fox won't give her the right kind of costume, then my anticipation is lowered.

Oh and black albinos exist. There is no reason to not put Zazzie in extensive makeup.

I dont find it sexualized at all

I'm not bothered by the costume being sexualized. I'm bothered by the costume not being comic accurate. I feel the same way about Iron Fist never getting a costume.

Give Zazzie some facepaint, a real costume and a haircut.
