Ajax being a weak villain is a valid criticism, because he wasn't really memorable in any way. His scheme was kind of underwhelming, he didn't have any personality, and his powers/fighting skills were generic. Sure, he beat up deadpool a couple of times, but the actual fights between them weren't as good as the highway sequence where he beat up random thugs. As a villain, Ajax is barley serviceable.
I guess the enhanced reflexes were only shown during the highway fight. When he tries to shoot him while he's on his bike, he dodged Wade's 2-3 shots. I'm actually ok with that they've shown. He might have enhanced reflexes, but it still doesn't put him, let's say, on Spidey's level. Just enough so he can own Deadpool in a 1-on-1 fight.
Still better than most of the MCU villains. I'm dreading the day when Marvel studios starts screwing with Spidey's iconic rogue gallery. They deserve better.
Edit: I still can't forgive them for what they did to Ultron. Goddang what a waste of a character he was.
anyone notice who else was in the dead pool?
Bill Cosby
Charlie Sheen
Kanye West
Putin
Wade Wilson they had at 39 years old
Reynolds was up there at 38 years old
Tj Miller, Miley Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan, Liefeld, Ozzy, Tyson, and Amanda Bynes from what I could see. It might actually say Wayne, B up there.

As much as I love what Kevin Feige has done with the MCU, I hope we see some more movies like Deadpool that stand on their own and give the makers greater freedom. A few inconsistencies (like Colossus being different than he was in his other appearances) are less important than the quality of the individual film.

He didn't have personality? He was an arrogant son of a B. I liked how laid back and nonchalant he was. He doesn't feel anything. And that carried over to his personality. I liked that.
Ajax in the movie pretty much serves the same function as the villains in Lethal Weapon. Be despicable, give the protagonist a hard time, and give him a mission. Ajax's "scheme" ain't the point of it. Deadpool couldn't care less if he was planning to take over the world. He just wants his face fixed.
Not every movie villain needs the attention and development of a Joker, or has to have his feelings and hatred explained like Loki in the first Thor, or go the campy, scenery-chewing route. He was badass, he made Wade's life hell while ironically saving it, and was an arrogant a-hole. And Ed Skrein did a great job.
I agree with the guys saying Ajax was a good villain. He was.
He may have been "underwritten" but i think that is actually quite refreshing. He's just a sadistic ******** who does what he does because... well, like he said himself, he wants to.
Skrein made him detestable and he actually created the character with his performance. His facial expressions and his body language. I thought he did really well.
I saw one commentator wondering if it could really work without the writers, but he obviously hasn't seen many of the interviews et al... Ryan Reynolds can easily do the Deadpool persona.
I loved this movie.
It was great.
I was so pleasantly surprised to see a downed [blackout]Helicarrier[/blackout] and [blackout]Bob[/blackout]!
Is this further sign that the Marvel/FOX schism is on the mend?
If that's the case and it means we continue getting good movies like this one, then great!
