That's your own fault. She was announced by the trades as the "female lead" and Morena Baccarin tweeted that she was playing "Vanessa"

Everything else was an assumption.

*Flips a magazine page*

Anyway I cannot wait for Deadpool's Comic-con presentation.

I'd prepare for that. But you do realize it's a "Deadpool" movie first and foremost, and not really an "X-Men" movie, yeah? In the comic book series he doesn't even really have THAT MUCH to do with the X-Men anymore. Deadpool's not really about the mutants and the mutant cause.

Vanessa's important in Deadpool's story because she was Wade's girlfriend back when he got cancer. Not really because she was a shapeshifter.

"Vanessa Carlysle fell into a life of prostitution in Boston where she met and fell in love with mercenary Deadpool." From the Wiki page. They just didn't make her a mutant shapeshifter. But that line, describing the comic character, is what we're getting in the movie. Get used to it.

^because thats the only thing she did in the comics.. just Deadpool's girl... forget that she was an imposter in X-Force.... so better not make her a mutant , this isn't a Copycat/Vanessa movie anyway.

I just don't know how I wouldn't want or assume for someone to be a mutant because sites just used their "name" and not their "codename".... Umm Bryan Singer didn't even use codenames of the characters when he announced some of the cast members for Apocalypse.

I'm just warning you that, as of the leaked script, she's simply Vanessa. And she was an impostor in the COMICS. This is the "Deadpool" movie, and here she is Wade Wilson's girlfriend.

I am fully aware of that but still I don't want a non mutant Copycat/Vanessa especially when you have freaking Colossus and random Teenage Negasonic Warhead in the film. And its pretty unfortunate if she's just playing the girlfriend...

Just judge the movie on its own merits. In the script it makes sense and perfectly fits that she's human, and that Colossus is a mutant. Every character has his / her own purpose in the screenplay. Writing a movie isn't "let's throw everything from the comics at a wall and let's see what sticks" or "hey, let's copy/paste." And thank God it ain't, and that the script is very well put together. I just hope they did a little more finework on the character development. Just tiny improvements.

I do find it hilarious that he is such a big cheerleader for Fantastic Four, yet is throwing a fit over freaking Copycat, a minor, minor character in the comics.

Well she is the character that I was looking forward to the most, so big massive letdown if she's
not a mutant.

Wait a minute, so we finally get a Deadpool movie and the character you're looking forward to the most is in fact NOT Deadpool?

I am not a Deadpool fan.

I do find it hilarious that he is such a big cheerleader for Fantastic Four, yet is throwing a fit over freaking Copycat, a minor, minor character in the comics.

Those four get to keep their powers... Vanessa might not keep hers...

Anyway that doesnt mean that I think this film will be bad... I am just voicing my opinion that I do not like what I am seeing on Vanessa. And I dont think that would change even if the film is good. I want a mutant Vanessa.

Deal with it. They don't make movies custom-made for what you want. You're getting the Vanessa they wrote and chose to portray in this movie. In this "Deadpool" (!) movie. I hope you're participation in the Deadpoo won't be limited to you whining about how she isn't a mutant in this.

And you should deal when people voice what they do not like... this is a forum anyway. Deal with it.

I have no problem with you not liking it. That's your problem. I was just warning you that you most likely wouldn't see Vanessa as a mutant, and then it got kinda sterile with the continuous "I want, I want, I want."

The trailer can't come soon enough, so we can talk about something else! :)

Me knowing Vanessa might not be a mutant will not change my preference... seriously.

We got that. It's okay. Let's move on. :)
When do you guys think they'll anounce the composer on this? It's pretty much the only major crew member that is still unknown.

Why in the world does anyone have a problem with this...other than maybe the coat is in the way :gngl:

As a fan of the X-Films, the only issue I have with the argument of Vanessa/Copycat as mutant or not...we're talking about series where characters have been, lets say revised, over the course of the X-Films.
I think so many more prominent characters in the grand scheme of the X-Universe and mythos have been featured on film, whether Vanessa is mutant or not, she's just so minuscule, at least to me, its not important, and the franchise, again is known for changing characters to suit the stories being told on film.

For example:
--Deathstryke wasn't a cyborg...she was essentially a Wolverine clone...
--Juggernaut wasn't a mystically endowed human...he was a mutant...
--Callisto was given a grab bag of other characters abilities...that would either show up, or are set to show up in the films...
--Silverfox isn't a mutant with mind control (maybe pheromone? or whatever from Origins)...
--Viper's reptilian qualities...

I could probably list a few more but they're escaping me...

The X-Franchise and related films have a history of altering characters (so does the MCU, so I don't want to be attacked for either, or, okay...) but for the X-Franchise, except for the core/main cast, they meddle with the smaller roles, so I don't get the Vanessa must be a mutant?

I don't think that's a spoiler as much as it is a warning to manage expectations. I would have appreciated if someone told me Deadpool would not be Deadpool in the Wolverine Origins film so that my excitement would not have been eviscerated in the way it unfortunately was.

But not everyone prefers such heavy details. What's the harm in using spoiler code for leaked non-official sources?
