Deadpool & Wolverine Deadpool & Wolverine Spoiler Thread

I waited 20 years for Pyro to be back on film and while I loved his part, I was choked that he got his neck snapped :(

Yeh Cable for sure. Some characters fit that Mad Max aesthetic really well.

Cable is too problematic of a character to keep around due to his crucial significance to the X-Men lore, and his complicated backstory which Marvel Studios clearly had no plans to expand. Even Deadpool 2 didn't want to flesh out his backstory.

Not to mention, this was already a very crowded movie. Having Cable functionally would've been too much like Wolverine.

I can't find that post from that one dude who complained about the Gen-Zers who didn't react to Snipes as Blade, but I just want to tell that person that he got the second biggest reaction at my screening. The biggest was Chris Evans yelling FLAME ON and revealing he was the Human Torch.

I thought Channing Tatum did a great job as Gambit. He nailed the character and his action scenes were on point. I wouldn't mind him being MCU Gambit in all honesty.
Having now seen it twice I still cant decide if Tatum was taking the character seriously or doing a parody of the character and with the voice being deliberately over the top and his head not really fitting the cowl but I enjoyed the heck out of it. The line about being conceived by his father just seem so random and non-Gambit like.

However in action it was pure poetry and everything Ive wanted to see from the character, its certainly going to be hard going back to seeing a PG13 Gambit now after watching him literally explode dudes to pieces and impale them on his staff. That bit was 100% nailed.

Yeah this is I guess part of the reason perhaps but damn if I didnt love Brolins portrayal and his presence in DP2, he stands out as someone who would have survived a long time in the void.

We did get plenty anyway to be fair to talk about so perhaps it would have been two character too many and would not have served any purpose that the others didnt already bring.

Am I the only one that feels slightly unsettled by how Deadpool got Johnny Storm killed in this film? Honestly, I had a hard time rooting for Deadpool for the remainder of the film.

Hmm, I don't think they had the intention to have Human Torch (especially played by Chris Evans) that long in the movie. Those characters also just met, and Deadpool was probably unware how brutal Cassandra Nova was, and Deadpool uses his mouth before his brain. Instead of a tragic death scene, they made it comedic which they later expanded on the post credits scene.

Another variant of Human Torch played by Chris Evans could still appear in another movie.

I agree to this. Yes, Johnny said: "Quote me" to him, but.. Killing established characters just for a silly joke is bad.

I am pleasantly surprised how much I liked Gambit even with his little screen time. The rest not so much.

Established?? This was a random Johnny variant. Hardly established. I'm sure there's a million other Johnny variants out there that haven't been killed. I thought it was hilarious.

That's also where I'm at. I never saw Tatum as Gambit in my mind's eye, but his part in this movie made me laugh and served its purpose. Good thing his Gambit project never materialized because like you said, if that was him being serious then....

Though if you watch the post credits they reveal that Deadpool was just quoting Johnny after Johnny told him to.

I took it as them mocking Reed Richards telling Wanda Black Bolts weakness in MoM.

And holy ****, for the last 48 hours since seeing the movie I totally forgot that Reynolds was in Blade: Trinity. Chalk that up to that movie being forgettable as all hell.
Their exchange when Blade said "I don't like you" and Wade said "You never did" was poking fun of the fact that Snipes wasn't uh, a big fan shall we say, of Reynolds during the making of Blade 3.

I'm not of those people who inexplicably seek out spoilers (I don't even usually watch any trailers past the first one for movies I plan to see in the theatre), so most of the cameos were surprises. I did get spoiled about Blade yesterday morning due to some @#$% on facebook :censor: lol.

Thought the movie was cool overall. My rankings for the DP movies are 1, 3, 2.

This was ironically much more self-contained and focused than I was expecting. No complaints though! We've got plenty more time for other cameos, but most were handled well here. Though, I would've liked an additional fight scene or two for X-23. The implication that she (and Logan) are going to be hanging with the Deadpool crew was great.

I hope we get a different take on him once we get to the actual X-Men thats for sure so my guess is Tatum just went to town with it and had fun as he doesnt expect to be back again.

............thats if the X-Men ever do appear, it doesnt seem like its any time soon. :meh:

I think there could be another tease in Fantastic 4 similar to the Marvels.

Doomsday is probably set in another reality, so who knows if we see a X-Men team there. Disney is going to be enjoying their profits from Deadpool & Wolverine, so it'd be silly not to get more X-Men/mutant appearances in the next three 3 years.

One thing that made no sense: Why was Wolverine banging on the door of the matter/anti-matter thingy to help Deadpool at the end? Did he forget he had claws? :hmm:funny:

I thought the same. Of course it's because the plot required it. But maybe the TVA used adamantium.

An adamantium door? I've seen both seasons of Loki and after seeing this movie, I am confused about the existence of TVA, like in general... and I don't want to rewatch Loki just to remind me of things. I wonder if the general audience are confused about the TVA.

Nah, because he was putting huge dents in it when he was trying to break through.

Too bad he didn't slash through the wall with his claws.

Lady Deadpool should've had at least 5-10mins of actual character moment with Deadpool. Nothing HUGE but more than the couple of lines that Blake had to record.

Saw this a second time, going back next week. The emotional impact was bigger for me this time around. Seeing Wesley and X23 walking on screen had me really worked up emotionally.

Blade because my first comic con took place when the movie came out. I had the Blade poster that was given away on my wall for 15+ years and also got to meet one of the actresses and took a picture with the vampire display chick's.

As for X23, gosh, despite only seeing her in one movie, is a testament of how impactful the movie (Logan) was and how she was needed in order to push the story of Wolverine forward without bringing the OG X Men back.
