Finally caught up with this season. That end of episode 4 was...something.

Only thing I really seem to care about at this point is what happens to Deb.

I see someone's developing a Dark Passenger of his own.

The show has developed some great ideas along the way, but other than Deb finding out, the rest of the characters are just 'there', nothing really relevant has happened between the characters, no stakes have been raised so far, so there's no urgency towards the ending.

The characters are just sort of around as background but to me it's better than the joke the characters on Weeds became. At least with Quinn there's a possiblity he'll remember Dexter is a killer and do something. Angel will probably get pulled in if only to keep Quinn out of trouble and protect Deb. Masuka is a lost cause though he's at least sometimes entertaining. The rest aren't even really worth mentioning. Maybe Miller, the new detective might be something more than filler to replace a hole in the department but so far they haven't even hinted at that much.

I haven't seen Weeds, so I can't really compare both.

Originally they were a more interesting group of people with an interesting and unconventional story (widowed suburban pot dealer housewife and her kids/brother in law, friends, etc).

Then the writers seemingly ran out of ideas/their minds and completely flipped the premise on it's side and went crazy. Literally burned the entire place to the ground. The city that is. Which kicked off a really boring and absurd storyline that went beyond marijuana and into the Mexican drug trade.

And to me they totally ruined the whole thing after they torched the town.

Yeah, season 4-5 almost lost me with Weeds. I feel like it would've been perfect to end it at season 3. I thought it got a little better at season 6, once they sort of got away from what you were talking about, but yeah, it never did quite recover the quality it once had. Dexter has went down here and there, but it's still pretty good.

It does and it could've used some injection of new blood and ideas but not too far. It would be like Dexter deciding to just start killing people he thinks are bad, disregarding the code and finding excuses to be a total **** towards everyone.

I just cought up on this season. ....wow. Not a good wow either, I love this show probably my favorite ever but this season is being wasted so far. I was hoping for Dexter to go into survival mode, breaking the code all season just to save himself or deb, maybe having Quinn remember that dex is a killer and start a dex vs.Quinn story line. There is no sense of urgency so far at all, I'm starting to think this show is just going to end like any other season.

Oh man if I have a Dark Passenger it was created by the cancellation of Carnivalè and Caprica. That, or by my first gf. Jury is still out

I can't believe that spoiler, unless it's something that they do right at the end. There's no way they would go that route and introduce it halfway through the season...it'd basically change the entire tone of everything they've done so far. This isn't ****ing Weeds we're talking about here.

Oh god I felt the same thing about Chuck. For the first half of the final season they set up this really interesting story arc which looked to be tying up the WHOLE series then the main villain gets blown up halfway through and a story arc which comes out of ******* nowhere finishes off the season with an ending that is a complete and utter **** YOU to the fans who watched every show.

That is a sign of a bad finale. An episode that ruins every single episode of the show before. And Chuck's done exactly that to the point where I don't feel like watching what was my favorite show ever again.

I have to say I get that feeling with this season of Dexter. It just doesn't feel like it has the weight to not only carry on the rest of the season but to finish the show. Even though what I said with Chuck the first few episodes felt like it was coming to an end, with 24 it felt like something was coming to an end it just had that sense.

I've enjoyed it for a regular season but there is no reason for me to feel like this is all coming to a head. In fact if anything I feel like they are gonna pull the rug and change the plot half way through.
