Dexter - Part 4

They're really trying to pull that mid-season. With that season being the final season? And they still have to wrap up the stuff with Hannah from last season? I get the feeling more and more that this season is going to really be lackluster as a finale. Thus far it's been decent, but with such a lack of finality and now with the potential of derailing it for another new direction, I'm getting the idea that this finale won't deliver.

I haven't really seen any podcast previews for upcoming episodes before (not for Dexter atleast) and there is one out for this Sundays episode, 'This Little Piggy'. Maybe that means some serious **** goes down, and could potentially turn the season on a path of awesome or a path of ****... and sadly I have to expect the latter given recent discoveries and the seemingly good, but all around mostly pointless episodes/story line.

At this point, I am watching for MCH/JC. Nothing more. Well... Jamies ass. still holding out hope for a Christian Camargo return.

dexter feels more episodic than breaking bad imo.. i love both shows, but when it comes down to structure breaking bad wins..

but its to early to judge this season..

I think that's fair to say that from season to season. Each season by itself is very much serialized, but they aren't as tight about having Dexter feel like one continuous story as Breaking Bad has been. They will sort of bring back stuff nearly at random, or just drop it completely with almost no reference (see Season 5).

Four episodes in, and at the tail end we had the first truly exciting, shocking moment to happen in this final season of Dexter. Shame they even kinda botched that a bit by keeping it going past 1, 2 or even 3 natural cliffhanger endpoints.

Quinn was extremely suspicious about Dexter, Rita's death, and KNEW Dex killed Liddy.... and now its like it never happened... hell its almost as if season 5 and 11 hours and 55 minutes of season 6 never really happened

Not only has Quinn forgotten Season 5 ever happened, but suddenly Dexter is his go-to guy whose judgement and explanations he'll just instantly accept without question.

Couldn't agree more. They are fumbling this BAD. EVERYBODY should suspect Dexter of ****ing something at this point! I'm just ready for it to be over already. Give me Breaking Bad's final 8 eps already so I can remember what a proper series finale feels like cuz I just am not feeling that we are gonna get anything too interesting here. This should feel like the final season of The Shield. From start to finish you could tell that all the years of wrong doing were closing in on Vic and something big was gonna happen, and it did and he still weaseled his way out of everything practically without a scratch and it was ****ing beautiful. The same thing should be happening here now and it just doesn't feel like it really is at all

THANK YOU for bringing up The Shield: a fantastic, under-appreciated TV series that, yes, had one of the best final seasons ever. A rare example of a show whose final season was arguably its best.

Ah Quinn, an annoying waste of space if ever there was one. You'd think after the writers realized he was just a repetition of a plot thread they'd use his overwhelming corruption and incompetence to write him out...or go on a shooting spree or something.

Good episode... the ending makes me sick... the previews for next episode make me sick.

its obvious Quinn 'catches' Dexter, but will think Dex is trying to help him get the promotion.

Loved the kill tonight.

but all in all i have lost 80% of hope for this series finale lol

I think the finale will be weak, just because the show has been weak for the past 3-4 seasons. It's sad that I'm more excited about Ray Donovan than Dexter, now.

I thought season 7 was pretty great.... I just don't get some of the really moronic paths they are taking this year.

Seriously guys, be ready to slap yourselves in the face tonight. The episode was good... but wow the last 5 minutes (preview included)... just. no. *insert michael scott 'NOOOO' gif*

Season 7 was pretty good, I thought as well. It wasn't great, but after season 6? Big ****ing jump.

Hey guess what guys. This show ain't Breaking Bad, BSG, Sheild, or LOST. It is Dexter.

So lets talk about Dexter, & leave these other shows out of it. I am so sick of people comparing. Its for people with no original thought or vision for themselves.

Get over it. This show is its own animal. Once you treat it as such. You will enjoy it much more.

That son was dressed almost exactly like Dexter. I thought that was weird. Same vibe with him too.

Uh no, it's from people watching one show, and then watching other shows that do certain elements in a different way. There is no need to get hung up about comparisons, it's a natural thing to do. It's not even like these comparisons are particularly bad in this case anyway.

wow so much *****ing for no damn reason this season has been quite good so far wtf is people's problem

stop watching the show then

Yes it is natural, for people that can't think for themselves. If you can't create your own thought to critique the show. Then you rely on other peoples stuff to express your idea.

Its a way to seem smart & intellectual with out forming any sort of self created critical thinking.

No damn reason? There seems to have been several damn reasons given in criticism to the season thus far. But, for the most part, people seem to think it's been at least decent, so what's the issue? Should everything written just be undying praise?

were you not *****ing about season 6 back then?

to be clear, I've enjoyed the season quite a bit... but it looks to be going in a direction that I can't stand.

I can't follow this logic down the rabbit hole. It doesn't matter anyway, as the amount of comparison has been fairly little in the grand scheme of things, and criticism without using direct comparison has been made.
