Dexter - Part 4

to be clear, I've enjoyed the season quite a bit... but it looks to be going in a direction that I can't stand.

Yeah, I think most posting here are in the same boat. And, as I and others have pointed out, there's a real lack of finality for the last season. I think, if anything, people are simply putting this to a higher standard still it is the series finale. I don't know why people can't take criticisms of shows sometimes. Are they secretly the show writers or something? Sometimes, I have wondered...

well anyways, I'm rewatching it now... Vogel was pretty awesome b**** slapping Yates lol

Vogel definitely was a pleasant surprise for this season. Her role not so much, but Rampling is really giving a good performance. Been a long time since I've seen her in anything.

1. Yates isn't the brain surgeon. Serials follow a set pattern. Yates breaks limbs, & buries them. He doesn't cut out brain parts. Vogel however...

2. I found it very interesting that Vogel was listening to the very same song that the brain surgeon used. Interesting indeed....

3. Matthews being so interested in that family is also interesting. Considering the preview for next week. I still think Matthews knows about Dexter.

.

Yeah I caught that too.

1. agreed, but don't think Vogel is the BS... but surely she knows who is.

2. basically the second part of 1.

3. I'm with you on Matthews knowing. and certainly more to it... hope they don't pull a 'Matthews having an affair with Hamiltons wife' thing...

and adding a 4

4. I can't stand the new black detective.. hell I cant even think of her name... a really annoyingly forced story line... like random scenes of other peoples dialogue is cut with a close up of her looking interested. lol

I just got done with it. I actually liked this episode. The previews looked good, too.

Good ****.

I'm on board for this protege thing now. Wtf. I don't understand how I could be so against it a few days ago but then during tonite's episode I started actually digging this all a bit more. I am loving Quinn actually having somethig worth a **** going on now. Seriously though, if things don't amp up soon I think we are going to have to accept that it's probably going to be a total lackluster ending. Ugggghhhh I just know Dex and Deb are gonna live all happily ever after and nothing on this show will have ever come full circle and nobody aside from Deb and the other women will ever know about Dexter. Truly saddens me but at least this story is good. Everything involving Dex/Deb/Vogel is spot on. The Masuka stuff kinda got interesting tonite and Quinn is getting better every episode. Loved the double date. Jamie actually getting pissed for once. That's one thing I've always thought has been glossed over way too much is how rude and disrespectful Dexter comes off to people not in the know. People in real life wouldn't put up with it and his colleagues would've gotten suspicious long ago. Either way, so far an absolute down grade from last season but better than 6. Also something I was thinking about today, season 3 as much as it just didn't live up to seasons 1 and 2 wasn't actually as bad as it's always made out to be. Boring, yes. But not good? Naaahhh it's actually top notch storytelling it's just that a lot of or was very underwhelming and boring. If that makes any sense. At least the story there wasn't completely crap tastic like 85% of season 6.

Oh damn! I didn't even notice the stuff with Vogel and the music! I have thought the BS and Yates' pathology is totally off though. He's obsessed with brains AND feet? Gtfo

The protege thing has always had potential, but it's just never panned out very well. I don't know, maybe the third time is the charm? Although, introducing it halfway through a season is not the best way to start a charm.

favorite part of the episode...Quinn "I'm stirring it!!"

the protege thing has always had potential, sure... but HALF WAY through the final season? come on.

and the preview for next week... Quinn [blackout] 'catching Dex' just so it can be twisted to Quinn being a moron and thinking Dex is trying to help him become Sergeant. [/blackout]

and the final scene? 'family'? Deb and Dex care wayyy to much about someone who just got here.

again, I am enjoying this season, but just pointing out some of my dislikes. but Deb's 'I've never seen him this angry...' Loved that scene... i like how its fuzzy with siding with Deb or Dex's point of view.

I'm just irritated with the random son of a guy from a random murder case is randomly Vogels patient who randomly becomes an apprentice.

edit: one part of the last scene... 'The family that kills together.' :hrt: :lmao:

i think vogel is a psychopath who needs to fix things, and hopes dexter can be her fix

Quinn to new detective lady: "I didn't know we had a friendship"

Me too buddy, me too:mad:

The opening scene with the therapy session between Dex and Deb, was it suppose to be comical. Cause I was laughing at all the exchanges.

So it looks like spoiler will be true....sigh.

i laughed too, but i thought it was good.

and yea... even looks the same lol

This can't end well for Dexter. So many people seem to know who he is by now, let's see: Deb, Hannah, Vogel, possibly Matthews, possibly Quinn (judging by the preview)....

I agree, though I'm less interested in Quinn atm and even less in the Masuka stuff, but I like his storyline too this season. I like however, the interractions of Queen & Dexter, the double date would've made for some interesting conversations, but it didn't really last.

Quinn better really know or I'll throw a shoe at my tv...

Also, doesn't this show just seem like they retread themselves all of the time?

S3-S5-S8 apprentice ****
S2-S7 crazy girlfriend
S5-S7 deb almost catching Dex etc

I could break it down more but I don't care to work harder than the writers if this show.

What I liked was Jamie randomly springing that on Dexter and her power play. To me, that's the kinda realistic stuff this show has lacked especially in it's interpersonal relationships. People do stuff like that and things don't always go as planned and it's always seemed to me that most random occurrences like friends throwing random parties and just stuff like that don't happen too often in Dexter's world. With Quinn, it's like they are doing this **** on purpose. It's like they're teasing that he's gonna find out, even before this latest preview. Even in the premiere people were saying after everything going on between Deb and Dex they would be surprised if he didn't start suspecting things and he still hasn't and in almost every episode so far they've had at least one scene in which it seems they are at the very least trying to imply Quinn may find out. It's becoming quite irritating. I just want everything here to come full circle and Dexter to get some sort of comeuppance after everything. I do not want a happy go lucky ending here at all.

Just watched it. Still doesn't feel like a final series. In a final series IMO it should be fast and feel like building up to a climax, even in the earlier episodes. Here I just don't get that. The episode was okay but it didn't feel like much happened that couldn't have been done in 20 minutes.

I don't know how this plot is going to fill out the rest of the season. And I also hate it how shows sometimes in its final series bring in aspects never heard of before. Chuck done it with some strange ending story and now Dexter has brought in this kid from nowhere who seems to now be taking center stage soon.

Plus did anyone else think "what the hell" when the 'SERIAL KILLER' just walked off to sort out his nose and leave his victim sat down completely untied?

I like this series as a standard series. But not as a finale.

I knew I heard that song during this season of Dexter and not only during Desmond's first appearence on Lost.

I have to be honest, I enjoy the season, it's entertaining, but there's no urgency and the focus of things keeps shifting and changing from one episode to the other. No cliffhanger either.

Did this last episode feel like it could have been a season finale? Also what is up with the episodes being so short this season? The have been 42-47 min so far, they are usually 52-60 min.
