Horror Dexter - Part 6

Yeah, it never felt like, "This is the end, we better kick things into high gear." It just felt like another season that meandered.

Exactly. It felt like any other season. That was a shame. Especially when you have an ample amount of time to construct a final season. :csad:

I read that they were rushed in pre-production.

Okay, Deb's body has gone missing during the hurricane. Maybe they link this to her brother, maybe not. Dexter has presumably died at sea.

Hannah has taken Dexter's son to South American. I am assuming that his grandparents have contacted the FBI to find him and this search will still be continuing to some degree.

Another story in the future? Yes, I would say that there very well could be! Another link up with Lumen Pierce? That would be nice as I really liked her character. I didn't see Dexter as being an empty shell when he was finally filmed at the logging camp - I saw him as coming full circle, and is now ready to embrace the world. Perhaps he will realize that out of the killings caused by his dark passenger a lot of good results and bad people have been brought to their rightful justice - perhaps he sees that now, with a clear head, his work needs to continue because there are still a lot of evil people who need to be taken care of?

No, I wouldn't want to see him return to Miami. I don't even care if he is a blood spatter expert somewhere else. He still has these skills to use while he is employed in some other capacity. Yeah, I like the idea of him and Quinn 'teaming up' in some way. And it would be good to see him find the outcome of his son possibly having the crazy gene within him. Hannah was a good character, but I don't need to see Dexter having a need to continue on with his relationship with her.

So, how long should we wait for the Dexter saga to continue?

I think how long we wait will depend on Hall. I don't see them recasting Dexter, so it's all going to depend on when he decides to do it, if he does it at all. I could see him going into another longterm project, and at that point, it'd be a long wait if the show lasted awhile. He jumped right from Six Feet Under to Dexter, for instance.

would someone delete this thread already :lmao: KILL IT BURN IT

Still makes me laugh.

Saxon...ten steps ahead of the Dexter writers.

I understand that preproduction was rushed by a few months but didn't they know they would have 2 more seasons to go after season 6? Season 7 really gave me confidence in the show runners because I loved the direction they were heading in but they squandered it in season 8.

Yeah, it was announced ahead of time that the 7 & 8 would be the last seasons.

Finally finish the series and i agreewith most that it felt like season finale and not a series finale

Yes...yes I did...until you reminded me. :csad:

Good lord season 6 was horrible. Just a complete joke.

Idk, when Deb walks in and meets the Dark Passenger during the season finally was pretty damn cool. Season 6 wasn't any better or worse than other seasons. That includes seasons 1-4

Hahahaha wow. Really? Season 8 and 6 both were the worst. Period. Worst than season 5 or 3 and I actually enjoyed season 5. 6 and 8 both were just piss poor but I will say 6 wasn't the complete ****ing disaster that 8 was

Deb meets the Dark Passenger? What? She found out about Dexter in season 7, not 8.

I just finished this show today! Season 8 was likely the weakest season of the show, and the finale while I wouldn't say outright horrible, but certainly wasn't great. I am seeing people say they had less pre-production on this season than other ones? It shows. The final episode's greatest sin I don't think is that it feels more like a season finale than a series finale. I think that the idea behind the ending (that Dexter destroys the lives of those he loves and everyone he touches is better off without him) was much more strongly symbolized in the finale to season 4 than 8. In having Dexter unrealistically survive that hurricane, I felt it underminded the entire symbolic point of the ending. But, season 8 was filled with rushed plot points and poor logic on Dexter's part.

I am also rubbed the wrong way that of all the people Dexter leaves his son with, it is a wanted fugitive. Would have made more sense if they both were raising Harrison since love was blinding him to that end, but to leave her as a single mother to Harrison? Not crazy about that.

The final 3 episodes of this season felt mostly like filler, also. How many times can Saxson escape being arrested or fleee his home? How many times can Dexter enter a room to kill him? It just went on too long, and they didn't have enough plot to fill the episodes. It all felt so raw and messy. This disappoints me since season 7 was one of the better season, I felt. My favorites were probably 4 and 1, but 7 was a stronger one. But, alas, mistakes were made with how they ended the series.

This is an A+ show, with a Cish ending.

You know those shows' final seasons that you weren't crazy about when it aired but later you started liking it? Like maybe, Fringe.
I don't see that happening with Dexter at all. I still look back at the season, and I still think is one of the worst seasons of any series. And it was the last one, which makes everything even worse.

Agreed. I think if they hadn't even bothered with season 8, and somehow made season 7 the last one, it would have honestly been for the best. It honestly would have been a better taste to end on than what we got in season 8.

I only just saw this a few hours ago, and the more I think about the finale, the more I dissect it, LOL! That is normally not good.

You should read the comments in here from back then. It was a slaughterhouse!! Haha
