Horror Dexter - Part 6

We knew this was coming eventually.
Yeah they said the Showtime bosses nixed Dexter dying in the finale. Presumably for this

You're forgetting GoT :oldrazz:
Eh I thought GoT was pretty trash for years so it didnt' nosedive for me. Weeds became completely unwatchable and HIMYM made it feel like I wasted my time.

Season 7 is pretty solid from what I remember. 6 and 8 are awful. 6 has to be the worst season of television I've ever seen. 5 is fine too, but they did that story in seasons 2 and 3.

Season 1 and 4 are my favorite, 4 being the pinnacle of the show and just being terrific television.
Season 7 was with Ray Stevenson, the Russians, and Yvonne "Charisma of Dry Paint" Strahovski, right? Yikes

Season 5 wasn't great. But it was still pretty good. And Julia Stiles was nice. Wish she was in more. But I feel like it wraps up the story starting with season 1 pretty well. Most, if not all, of the storylines were wrapped up. Of course, save for Dexter being caught. It feel like season 6 on they rebooted the show. Started new ongoing storylines, new character motivations, etc.

If I do a rewatch of Dexter, which I haven't in a while, I always end at season 5.

You guys are feeling yourselves WAY too much if you think GOT and Dexter‘s endings are comparable.

Oh man Weeds was another one that was SO GOOD for its first few seasons and then went off the rails completely. But if I remember correctly it stuck the landing pretty well and managed to have a satisfying end.

While I didn't think that Jordan Chase was the best of villains, I did like the partnership between Dexter and Lumen, almost like a Batman and Robin sort of working partnership.

Talking about the show post-Trinity, I do think there are elements of Season 7 that I do like. Deb learning Dexter's secret with him returning home and seeing all of his materials spread out was a good moment. And even though LaGuerta soured on me as we got closer to her death, I did like her putting the pieces together and realizing that Dexter was the Bay Harbor Butcher.

The scenes where she arrested him and later interrogated him for information were great- it was as if Doakes never left. Even though we weren't meant to like either of them when they were uncovering Dexter's deeds, they were, in the end, doing the right thing as officers.

I’m going to go right ahead and say they should bring back Doakes and dont even bother explaining how he’s alive. He just is. He was that good of a character that i dont even care if they explain it or not.

Even though the finale was terrible and the last three seasons were crap for the most part, I very much enjoyed the first 5 seasons and Dexter was my favorite show for the longest time

I welcome this return and hope it will make up for the finale

It was a long time ago I watched it. Or maybe my standards were so low after season six anything slightly better was good in my book. :funny:

I wouldn't mind this. :o

Doakes was my favorite character. He was gone too soon. I wish I could share those memes on here.

season 7 was good until hannah yvonne drypaint got the table with the wrong knife

Dexter Revival Ordered at Showtime; Michael C. Hall Returning for 10-Episode Limited Series

*sighs deeply*

Which one of you wasted a perfectly good genie wish on this?

Wouldn’t it be better if they just rebooted the series with a new actor? Who wants to continue that version of the character after *that* embarrassment of a series finale?

It’d be better to start over from scratch, and do something closer to the spirit of the original books, imo.

You can only go up from that awful finale. So I hope, anyway.
Nothing they can do will make up for lumberjack Dexter. Maybe they can in some way partially redeem the character but it won't erase that awful, awful ending. A reboot would be preferable or even a quasi-spin off where Dexter makes a brief cameo but is not the focus.
Halloween 2018 this... make it so s5-s8 never happened and go from there.
Except that. That or a reboot is probably the only real way to recover from the finale. Would love to see Jennifer Carpenter come back.

season 5 is underrated IMO...

for me its 1-4-2-5-3-7-6-8
I enjoyed the 5th season. I liked seeing Dexter team up with Lumen and Jordan Chase was a good villain. Also the subplot with Quinn investigating Dexter and bringing in Peter Weller’s character was cool to see play out

My only complaint was the finale. It should have been right there and then that Debra finds out about Dexter and possibly even avoid that entire ridiculous Debra being in love with Dexter storyline that was introduced the following season

I don't know that I can recall the exact order I placed the seasons (if I even decided at the time), but I know 2 was my favorite, I really liked the first 7, and I even enjoyed Season 8 outside of the ending which I do agree was a mess. So the chance of coming up with something better sounds good.

On one hand, pre-season 6 was some pretty compelling and entertaining television and it'd interesting to see if they could capture a bit of that in a limited run, knowing how screwed up the latter portion of the show was.

On the other hand, that latter portion was straight basura (particularly that godawful finale) and I don't know if anything could endeavor to wholly correct that, even if it couldn't be worse... unless they deliberately tried for such.

I'll watch.

By the way, has the primary antagonist been ruled out to be some looming weather condition forming off the coast of Oregon that (somehow) bears a striking resemblance to the hurricane in Season 8? Could be a revenge plot by a smaller system.
Couldn't resist.

Also House of Cards is another show that fell off a cliff hard and I'm not just saying that cuz of Spacey. The first season I still think is one of the best individual seasons of a TV ever along with True Detective 1.
But season 2 was poo poo. Then 3 was better but still not that that good. And then after that it just became meh

Ok just as i thought, theyre doing this to put a proper ending on the show. Hey, why not, right? The original showrunner was probably just as mad as we were about where the show ended.

Yeah I'm going to watch it out of curiosity. I hope something horrible happens to Hannah at least. Freaking Scrappy/Cousin Oliver/Poochie if there ever was.

Let's kill Deb though. That was truly a shining moment in the show's run.

Do you think they’re gonna retcon things like Deb’s death?
