But things had obviously changed from the daughter's "I hope he doesn't come back this time" comment.

And minutes prior to her shielded Arthur from Dexter, she was trying to seduce Dexter into taking her away from Arthur. Despite lapses, Arthur's control over his family is strong. I don't think they'll not bring up Kyle Butler out of loyalty to "Kyle."

Yeah, i think it was the fact that he took her hidden stash of money..:hehe:

Made me laugh during that sequence seeing Trinity carry on like a desperate crack addict trying to score his next hit. :hehe:

dexter has most certainly turned his phone off before...

and Clyde Phillips said, we didnt know what we were going to do for the finale, we cant just kill trinity... umm..i might be looking to far into it...but killing rita was indeed spur of the moment. they told her right before the season finale was filmed.

I don't see how there could be any confusion about the ending.

I mean, it was pretty cut and dry I think.

Also...

wouldn't there be security footage of Dex talking to Arthur at the police station? Or somebody working there recognizing the 6'3" visitor on the wrong floor standing around talking to Dex as Arthur who went on to kill Dex?

Also, I'm guessing Dex's kills next seasons will be way quicker, more efficient and less ritualistic then they'd been earlier. Like he'll just poison them via syringe, drop their "waking up covered in plastic to be stabbed" portion, and dump them at sea.

How boring would that be?!?! (the answer: EXTREMELY!:cmad:)

Too much has been built out of Harry's code for Dexter to abandon his usual M.O. He has to confront them with their crimes, and leave them with the fact that they couldn't escape their crimes.

Besides, nothing can top the visceral feeling when he stabs 'em with a big-ass knife. He clearly loves the butchery part of the kill as much as the kill itself.

It's a bit of a leap, but I think that if Arthur's family mentioned Kyle Butler the FBI would just assume that they mean the dead Kyle Butler, so they probably wouldn't trace it back to Dex.

" Harry " was right all along.

i was starting to like Rita, but damn i was kinda sad seeing her like that. Arthur goin in the tub with her naked and holding the mirror in front of her :csad:

i was thinking maby somehow next season Deb finds out that dexter was with the family but he'll probably say he was onto Arthur, you know doin some undercover work, but Arthur found out and went after Rita

Producer Clyde Phillips decided to clarify some things right now, since some people were confused by the ending

Trinity killed Rita. 100% confirmed. No twist about it next season. He killed her, done deal.

Damn, as dumb as it may have been, I was hoping it was a dream like when Dexter saw Rita and the kids being hauled into the police car.

As annoying as she may have been at times I didn't want to see her die.

I suppose in light of Rita being murdered, Deb wouldn't be pissed off at Dexter going after Arthur Mitchell alone.

crazy thing is, Arthur didn't even know about Dexter's past, it's crazy how he also decided to leave Harrison in a pool of blood next to his mother

I assumed (and the writers could use it as an out) that Deb was researching the killings on her computer in her home. We saw her reading the story on Moser in her apartment. Arthur could have found the stuff on Dexter that way. I'm sure he would have dug a little more in the apartment and found something. For all he knew Deb could have been Dexter's wife.

yup
maby a family photo of Dex with Rita and the newborn, or even maby Rita's prescription meds she gave to Deb cause she had trouble sleeping

They could find out that Arthur had gotten his info from Deb's apartment Security camera or DNA he left there) and she and the rest of police would think it was retaliation for Christine. That, in their minds, would explain why Rita was killed by him. At least that's one way the writers could trake it next year.

To make things worse,
look at the first trailer of season 4. You can see Trinity actually raping Lisa Bell, his first victim in Living The Dream. That was obviously cut out of the episode as well as all references to it, but man....Rita...NOOOOOOOOO!

Wow what an episode, what a season! I love this damn show man. Cant wait for season 5. Question though:

What about the fact that Dexter has been hanging around the Mitchell family? Sure they thought he was Kyle Butler but they've all seen his face and know exactly what he looks like. Surely this information is going to come to light right? How will Dexter explain that?

i know :csad:

Im disappointed in only one thing

I think when Dex found Rita that they shouldve cut to little flashbacks of Trinity with her in the tub and attacking her and all that saying "Its allready over" I feel really cheated that we didnt get to see even one shot of them in the tub together or anything. That woulda been down right heart-wrenching. That said Im still in an utter state of awe at what has gone down. Especially after all the romantic parts of the episode. I was really almost on the verge of tears I felt so bad for Dexter plus just seeing sweet ol Rita like that.

I gotta admit though I love that quote "Its allready over" its just so ominous and taken in different context can mean alot of different things

i said earlier that if that does happen he'll tell them he was doing some undercover work cause he was on to Arthur, but Arthur found out and killed Rita

I'm still floored and feel slightly sick when I think of the finale.

Wow, what a show this is!

I think they will stay quiet about it. He has told them before that he would take care of Arthur and in there eyes he did. He saved them. They will possibly now go to witness protection and keep the secret.

Oh my, i do actually feel sick and cannot believe what i just witnessed. I have loved Rita all the way through the show and even at her b*tch stage she still played an important role in Dexters life.
I hope she comes back as a 'good' conscience within Dexter. I think that Cody and Astor will be out of the show for a while and little Harrison could possibly go. I see Dexter going into solitude for a while and having the Dark Passenger take over. Plus Debs will find out, i'm sure she will near the beginning of the next series.

Seriously though, i loved the Trinity Killer all the way through.. now.. he is an utter bastard and deserves 100x more than what he got.
Poor Dexter.

It would be really interesting to hear what Jeff Lindsay thought regarding Rita's death. I'm glad she is still alive in the book and i hope he doesn't get any freaking ideas.

Dexter rocks, best 40ish hours of media i have been exposed to however the last 2 minutes are probably the most heart wrenching thing i've seen on tv.

Still can't get over it. He was so happy :csad:
