Dude, I really wish I could break it down. But the list is so long that I don't even know where to start.

I will just say that I am severly saddened by the direction in story structure this show has taken. I don't mind going on a journey to anywhere as long as it makes total sense. There are a lof of things that didn't make sense this season.

I am glad that other people liked it. Dexter just isn't strong enough storytelling wise for me to keep watching.

Look I don't want to be the bummer of the party. I just wanted to put my opinion out there. I have done so. I am out until next year at least.

Hmmn... well, we'll see if you're still posting in this thread when season 6 rolls around.

I agree with you on some points. There were some stupid leaps of faith. Three that immediately come to mind would be...

(a) Masuka just accepting that some dude wrapped in sarin-wrap shot Dan the Dentist. Dexter had about 10 seconds to set up that fake crime-scene.

(b) The blood on Quinn's shoe doesn't match Luddy (Liddy? whatever the hell his name was) thanks to Dex's tampering. Okay, but that doesn't excuse the mountain of other evidence implicating him. And then Quinn is buddy-buddy with Dex at the end, despite the fact that Dex was the reason he was in that mess in the first place.

(c) Deb letting Dex and Julia go. That is not Deb. She is a by-the-book cop and I've never seen her let such flimsy emotions get in the way of doing her job. It was a poorly executed story-conciet.

The latter two especially irked me, because they revolve around mischaracterization. The finale failed for me in part, because of (b) and (c). Also there was no danger with Chase. He captures Dex, but all of two minutes later Dex has already defeated him. No tension at all. They also should have explained why Chase didn't touch the girls. Did he have some genital deformity? Was it a power-thing, not just over the girls, but over his friends? Was he reliving his own traumatic rape experience? So much more could have been done with that.

Despite all the flaws this season had, there were still some extremely powerful moments. I loved Dex being at Chase's motivational seminar. And I thought Boyd Fowler was a great character. I thought a sleazy entourage of school buddies being behind this kidnapping-ring was a great premise. As well as Dex and Lumen overcoming their respective demons together. And for every moment that made me groan, there would be many that were awesome. So I'll definitely be here for season 6.

f**k this party! Here's a wall o'text for anyone who cares enough.

What I hated about it was how lame the writing was, at least compared to the other seasons. Julia Stiles was impressive but I mean, I don't tune in to watch Dexter grow into a more loving, caring person. They have this great premise, a serial killer who kills criminals, and what has it turned into? A show that's worthy of being aired on the CW.

"I'll carry your darkness for you..."

The performances were amazing, especially from Michael C. Hall, and that just pisses me off even more. I've been waiting since the end of season 1 to see Dexter hunt down a serial killer on the level of (or heck, even sicker than) his brother, and guess what? It's been 4 years and no dice. We get these kills that feel like they were thrown in just because it's Dexter, and it hurts.

Who have been the main antagonists after season 1?

Lila: "Someone who understands me! whOA, wait, she's a nutjob!"
Miguel: "Cool, I get to be a mentor! WhOA, this dude is out of his mind!"
Trinity: "Cool, I can be a protege?! wHOa, this dude is more messed up than I am!"

:rolleyes::whatever::rolleyes:

I understand a show needs character growth to be watchable, but it's just so wrong when the growth consumes a whole season to the point where it dilutes its spirit. Every season I watch, hoping, that in that hour I will see something that will spark how I felt when I watched the first 2 seasons... and every episode I'm disappointed. Instead I get to see Dex running around trying to save the people close to him, and y'know, occasionally avoid getting caught. yay.

I'm never surprised anymore, and this is coming from a dude who loves and still watches House after 7 seasons.

But hey, I ain't trying to say anyone is wrong for liking this season. I'm just ranting about why I frikin hate what's being done with this series.

p.s.

And one thing that really bothers me. Early on they followed a trail of blood to Dan the Dentist. Seriously, case closed after they find the staged murder/suicide? lmao it was such a sloppily strung together thing, ugh, such a horrible oversight. I guess Masuka's "demonstration" made them forget about how they got there.

There were a few good moments though, like Dex taking on the abusive father and his spontaneous kill in the premiere but s**t, they're few and far between and it's just not doing much for me.

Its a year away. I could be dead by then. Or god knows what. I am sure I will watch season 6. I suffered through 10 years of Smallville just to see how it ends. This show will alway be easier to watch than Smallville.

I will, however not be getting Showtime unless they have like a 6 month free deal or something. I just can't justify the money risk factor anymore.

Hey, Anton was cool. Maybe not as cool as Lundy, but a damn sight cooler than Quinn. I miss him.

Anton was a nice guy but he was wrong for Deb and probably this show. He's too normal and mellow.

Miguel was an awesome every-day villain. He had some very human flaws, a man who may have started out noble, but was obviously messed up and had let his bitterness, childhood issues and skewed view of the justice system warp him into an even greater monster than Dexter. I loved that he threatened Dexter from WITHIN the system too. "I have City friggin' Hall!" Great line. And he got taken down in the second-last episode.

Keep in mind I liked Miguel but I still found him the least threatening of the bunch. He was still a good character.

I liked that the Skinner had no real connection to Dexter or any real interaction with him (unlike say, Jordan Chase, Trinity, Lila, Ice-truck killer, etc). He was just a serial killer that needed to be taken down.

The Skinner concept wasn't a bad idea but I didn't like the execution, especially considering he was the season finale baddie. It was Dexter vs some dude I could hardly care less about.

I actually think season 3 was filled with the most "normal" (relatively speaking of course) set of characters they've had yet.

It's called rapidshare or torrents.

I haven't spent one dime on Showtime or HBO for over 10 years and it hasn't stopped me from watching my shows every day they are on.

I've literally watched every single episode of Dexter on megavideo. lol

What bothered me more about this scene is that she let them take Chases' body. I assumed that she was letting them go, but that they'd leave the body there. Miami metro already suspects it's a vigilante taking these guys out, so with Chases body at the scene they'd have their proof; then eventually, since Chase is the last, the case would die down and become a cold case.

Did they chop up Chase's body at the scene? Or did they take it somewhere else and do it?

I didn't want to name actual names. But yes that is what I use to download.

Before this season though I considered it worth getting Showtime for a few months & watching it. After all a good show can't stay on the air if the studio thinks noone is watching it.

I just realized, Showtime's gonna have to do some serious strategizing soon as next year will most likely be the last year for Dexter and Weeds. Those are its two star shows, once they lose those....Then again, who knows, maybe Dexter will be renewed again and Weeds will go on yet another season.

They're really ramming Shameless down us Showtime subscribers throats. I can't have that channel on for 5 minutes without seeing a promo for it. :cmad:

I can't imagine how being married over two years and overcoming cancer only to call it quits will not affect the show.

Awkward. :csad:
They pretend for a living. I'm sure it'll be fine. They're both professionals.

So I only just finished the 4th season last night. Can someone tell me, without revealing any huge spoilers or details, [BLACKOUT]if they reveal whether or not the Trinity Killer killed Rita at the end of season 4?[/BLACKOUT] I don't want to know the answer. I just want to know if they reveal it or not.

Thanks.

The interview that aired immediately after the Season 4 finale basically answered your question. And no it's never really addressed during Season 5, but has been confirmed by the people who make the show (including Rita herself).

Since it really plays no part in season 5, it's not at all a spoiler, but I will put it into spoiler tags for you.

Trinity did kill Rita.

Ah, thank you, sir.

Then let me just say: Dammit, Dexter, why didn't you kill Arthur when you had the chance!!! I loved Rita!

Dexter Season 5 deleted scene:

Quinn is suck a dick...:awesome:

I love Dexter, but if next season were to be its last, I'd be fine with it. I think every season's been good in terms of development for Dexter, but I'm not sure where else they could go with him.

Weeds needed to end like two seasons ago.

I just finished the first season and am waiting to get my hands on season 2. Awesome show! I'm just sorry it took me so long to get around to watching it.

I think they have to stop throwing out red herrings and finally reveal Dexter's serial killing to Deb or the kids or someone equally important. That's really the only place I could see them going that would be genuinely satisfying to me at this point. The fact that we came so close this season (on multiple occasions, no less) but ultimately ended with the status quo 100% preserved left me very underwhelmed. Truly great shows take risks. Hinting at the big reveal without ever actually using it and dealing with the repercussions is far too pedestrian for a show with the potential Dexter has.

Well said Corp, couldnt have put it better. Although in all fairness, i'm betting that the writers felt like after last season's punch to the gut that maybe they wanted to dial it back a notch. I mean let's not forget, the status quo is pretty significantly changed with Rita out of the picture now. They took a BIG chance with that. I remember this time last year right after the finale, alot of posters on here weren't a big fan of the move to kill her off.
