I don't think it will be mopey Dexter. It will be every person he hunts from now on in his eyes is the Trinity killer Dexter. Which will be badarse!

I hope that doesn't mean he'll be as incompetent with them as he was with the Trinity killer.

That was arrogance more than incompetence. It seems to be a running theme with Dexter. He first tries to learn something from his prey or soon-to-be-prey (Lila, Miguel and Trinity) and in the process misses many good opportunities to kill them, waiting usually until something catastrophic happens that could have been prevented. Maybe he'll finally learn his lesson.

Anyway, I was sad when Doakes and Lundy got killed, but didn't really care about Rita. It's going to be a bad time for Dexter, but a good time for us, because his "dark passenger" is really going to go into overdrive next season. If you think he was incompetent before, wait until he gets sloppy because he's consumed by rage. :word: Maybe he'll kill another innocent (making 3, if you count Oscar Prado and the artist) and fall into his own rule about killing someone who has killed 3 or more innocents.

this storyline will give James Remar a lot to work with since he pretty much is the dark passenger.

no, they'll know it was the trinity killer. Rita died the same way all the victims of the trinity killer died. though I can see Quinn being suspicious of Dexter.

I think that the assumption that people will make is that the Trinity killer went to the wrong D. Morgan. This will of course serve to provide Deb with more things to be messed up about and make up a large part of her storyline for next season.

It's kind of interesting that Deb, Quinn, and Dexter all had their love lives ruined by the Trinity killer.

It really is. I never thought of it like that. All I know is I just cant wait for someone a little bit more vital and essential in the cast (than Quinn) to find out Dexters secret. I guess Deb will probably be the only that will find out though

Dexter Cast Teases Season 5
http://tv.ign.com/articles/107/1076476p1.html
March 10, 2010 -
Just what can we look forward to in Dexter Season 5? Coming off a very taut and traumatic Season 4, fans are now wondering more than ever what lies ahead for America's favorite serial killer. Last week, the cast and creators of Dexter held a Q&A session for fans as part of the Paley Center for Media's annual PaleyFest. Michael C. Hall received a standing ovation when he came out on stage and joined his wife, Jennifer Carpenter (Debra), and co-stars Julie Benz (Rita), David Zayas (Batista), Desmond Harrington (Quinn), C.S. Lee (Masuka) and Lauren Velez (LaGuerta) – as well as former showrunner Clyde Phillips and executive producer Sara Colleton.

Right now the producers and writers are coming together to formulate the overall big picture storyline for Season 5. With Clyde Phillips, executive producer and showrunner since Season 1, leaving the show to spend quality time for his family, the spotlight is even brighter on the show's direction, especially given the place the Season 4 left off. Season 4, unlike previous seasons, left us with a mountain of loose ends. What will the cops think when they see that Rita was killed by Trinity? Will they ever discover video of Trinity talking to Dexter in the police station? Will Jonah Mitchell ever wonder why Kyle Butler was working with Miami Metro? With so many lingering questions, it was a relief to find out that there will be no jump ahead. We will not see Dexter months down the line. Season 5 will pick up right where 4 left off.

"What we can say is that I think the death of Rita is something that we feel is so awesome that it needs to be honored," said Colleton. "And the process by which Dexter deals with it will allow the audience their own catharsis so we're not going to jump ahead. We're going to actually process it."

Have the writers started thinking about a big villain for next season? Well, yes they have. But that's about all they could say about it. That they've only started talking about it. One thing that they did dismiss outright however was the fan-spiracy going around that Rita's death was all a dream. It is very real and it will have very real ramifications.

But what about Rita coming back next season? Dexter sees Harry all the time, as a nagging figment? Could Rita return? "I don't see it happening. I don't see how," actress Julie Benz told us. "A lot of people have thought that she could return as a ghost like Harry, but I don't really see how that could work because in my opinion Harry's more of the internal part of Dexter, because Harry knew his Dark Passenger and gave him his code. And Rita was more of a cover. She was more of the external and I just don't see how her voice would play in his subconscious. But you know if they came up with a way to do it, yeah I'd be there in a heartbeat."

There are even a few rumbles out there that John Lithgow's Trinity Killer might return in some form or another. This rumor was politely dismissed by Colleton. "Trinity only served Dexter's journey in the season," she admitted. "And as interesting a character, and as dimensionalized as our writers made him, he only served the purpose to take Dexter to the place we wanted for that season."

Hall smiled wide when asked about his experience working with Lithgow. "I had as much fun acting with John as I've ever had with anybody," he said. "And as far as the stuff we were doing, the darker it was the more hysterical we were. With laughter. Just because the relationship was so twisted and so malicious. And John's enthusiasm was infectious. I mean he showed up the first day that we worked together on the finale and said 'oh, I couldn't sleep last night.' (rubbing his hands together with glee)"

The writers and producers then explained that they made the choice to change Debra's knowledge about Dexter's murderous ways from the books (where she found out about Dexter in the very first one) in order to unburden her character and provide a story that could sustain a TV series. But now, after four seasons, Deb seems to be on the cusp of discovering Dexter's true identity. But how does Jennifer Carpenter feel about all this? Does she want Deb to find out the truth?

"John (Lithgow) would come to work like this (rubs hands together with glee) and I would come to work like this (hands shaking on a steering wheel motion)," Carpenter laughed. "I mean whatever they write I will do but I'm kind of overwhelmed at the possibility of what that scene might look like. There are days when I really want to know and then there are days when I want nothing to do with it." And then the more she thought it over, Carpenter finally admitted, "Boy, going back to work really scares me."

A lot of us are wondering what Dexter's mindset will be at the beginning of Season 5. Will he be extra cautious or extra reckless? Hall joked around by saying "I was talking this morning to Sara (Colleton) and said 'I don't know, maybe Dexter should be in an insane asylum.' But then I thought 'No, Deb should be in the insane asylum.' From all the trauma."

Dexter's going to get found out one of these days, and right now everyone's money is on Deb. But what about Batista? As a friend who never in a million years would ever suspect Dexter of doing dastardly deeds, Batista might be nice "left field" choice. What does actor David Zayas think about that theory? "If you look at every character on the show, there's something," Zayas told us. "Quinn (Desmond Harrington) has now had a little friction with him (Dexter) last season. Look at his sister, Debra, who has discovered who his mother is and now she might investigate further. And Masuka, who's really involved in the forensics thing and can easily find things out." Zayas continued on about his own character, "Batista is kind of close to Dexter and is always observing him since he goes to Dexter for advice. And how he's going to observe him now that Rita has died and how he's going to want to look out for him to make sure he's okay - all of those aspects are recipes for finding out something that they might not want to find out. So the possibility for every character is open and available."

 I'm glad they won't be jumping forward a few months. We need to see how Dexter deals with what happened.

Oh snap! Its gonna be an awesome season indeed! I wander what they have in mind for the villian this year. We need somebody that is even more of a monster than Trinity. We need a real monster. Remorseless, methodical, intelligent, and completely out of his mind. Personally i wanna see a cannibal killer someone that Dexter just can't understand. Someone who is so dark and evil it brings out the real evil in Dexter. With Trinity it was all about family and the contrasts between him and Dexter. We need someone who truly creeps Dexter out. I wanna see a scene with Dexter investigating something and thinking to himself "What kind of man could do this?" Understanding killers is Dexter's "thing" but there are killers out there that Dexter can't even begin to concieve and that's what I want to see next season. Plus I love what they said about Batista in that interview. I would flip my **** if he ended up finding out cuz that would be EPIC!

he's already killed 3 innocents if you want to count Oscar

I'm not much of a tv series man but Dexter is one of the best shows ever made. I haven't got to see season 4 yet (a little behind) but I can't wait.

Hello all! New here - been visiting SSH for a few years but never got around to joining the message board.
I wanted to share with my fellow Dexter fans a little project I worked on with my father.
I knew right away after my first viewing of a Dexter episode that I wanted a replica of his blood slide trophy case - and since my Father likes the show to and is a master cabinet maker, I enlisted him to make a replica for myself and a run of them for some members on another board I am on. Let me know what you guys think!

Dude that is so awsome.:awesome:

Huh? I can only remember Oscar and the artist. Who's the third?

And to the guy above me with the father who made the blood-slide case. You may have one of the coolest Dads ever. :word: That is pretty cool, man.

If anyone wants a replica box he may be making ten more. I won't talk price here, but you can PM me. Thanks for the compliments.

Woah... I just finished all 4 seasons.... Man, what a crazy mind****. I love this show!!!

I just finished season 4. Thanks to Showtime for the free on demand weekend. I loved the whole season, it was good as usual, but man, it shure ended on a real downer. :(

I can see why they had to get rid of her though... I mean, in Seasons 3 and the first half of 4, she was annoying the crap out of me.

Eh, natural challenges of married life. You can't expect someone you're supposed to be sharing everything with to not get a little antsy when so much of your time can't be accounted for and so many mysteries start popping up around you.

I know, I was just whining. :atp:
