Hmm, this is far fetched and probably not going to happen but what if....what if Deb finds out about Quinn and his investigator and in the finale Deb ends up murdering the investigator to protect her brother? They've already sort of hinted that Deb is more like Dexter than we think when she killed that serial killer in the club. What if she takes it a step further and murders the investigator to protect Dexter? I mean either way, i think we can all agree that Quinn's detective is going to bite it by the end of the season one way or the other. lol

What if the season ends with Dexter exposed as a killer and getting caught, or having to go on the run?

I feel like the show would essentially be over at that point.

I don't think it would have anything to do with her being like Dexter. Not to mention it being a bit redundant when Dexter is already dealing with the fear that Harrison, having pretty much the same horrific experience that Dexter had as a toddler, will end up like him. She still has some level of resentment, 'cause Harry seemingly spent more time with Dexter than her when they grow up, without really understanding why. That kind of emotional detachment isn't going to get any better in a high-risk profession like law enforcement. Not to mention the relationships she's had. She's almost as bad as Benson from Law & Order: SVU. Deb's been at the mercy of a serial killer, been shot by a serial killer's daughter, seen what truly evil men do to people. Taking everything into consideration, it's no surprise she didn't give a rat's ass about the dude in the club.

Also, a small plot niggle that bothers me. Though WE know Jordan Chase is involved in the rape and murder of these girls, I don't think Dexter has sufficient evidence yet to prove it.

I don't believe that simply hearing Jordan Chase say "Tick tick, that's the sound of your life running out" should be enough to convince Dexter of his guilt. He says it's a common phrase he uses in his seminars: and surely Dexter knows the one thing Boyd and Cole had in common were that they were believers in Chase's teachings - it is not unreasonable to assume that the "watch guy" who Lumen heard could simply have been quoting Chase, rather than actually being Chase himself. You think Dexter would have learned after the incident last season with the photographer that circumstancial evidence is not enough to kill someone over.

Of course, there would be one VERY easy way to confirm Chase's guilt, and I can't believe Dexter hasn't thought of it yet. Take one of the many videos and sound recordings of Jordan Chase available online or through his CDs, and play it to Lumen. She knows his voice. Surely that would be enough to identify Jordan Chase as part of the group with more certainty.

is there any word on a pickup for 6th season? or will we be waiting a while to find out?

Dexters short and sweet 12 episode seasons, and never failing to impress in the final six leaves me confident it can go atleast one or two more seasons before packing up the kill tools.

Soze, about your plot niggle of Jordan chase and proof

in spoiler tags because its in the preview

Dexter seeks out Chase in order to find more proof

I think the un identifiable person in the pic is going to be the season shocker, or is the real big bad. I have a feeling that it's someone we already know. I know Dex would recognize them by looking at the pic, but alot of people look really different when they were kids. Also Chase himself wasn't in the pic, and i remember Dex saying that maybe he's the one that took the pic...

I think it would be cool to tie Arthur Mitchell into this little group.

The Irish nanny used to be a man, but had a sex change, but when she was male she was one of the boys in the picture OMGZERS!!!! :wow::wow::wow:

You know what? I've been thinking about the nanny being tied into the bigger story somehow; she just seems to perfect.

They have to be careful with the nanny and arthur that they don't make the dexter "universe" too small.

It's fun to have some linked events, but it gets a little too convenient when EVERYTHING is tied together.

Great episode. The part where Cole was chasing after Lumen felt like part of a slasher movie. The he busts through the hotel door. Loved it. I hated what Laguerta did to Deb. Glad that Batista is backing Deb up though. And I agree that the little convo that Deb and Dexter had was foreshadowing her approval of what Dexter does.

I just caught up with Dexter with season 4 and recently watched the latest episode from season 5. Man, I am waiting for the moment when Deb finds out about Dex and how she will deal with it. Totally agree with Mike though. Man, Laguerta is such a B****. I felt bad for Deb but I am glad Batista is backing her up. I can't wait for next episode. Can't Sunday come any sooner?

Whats taking Showtime so long to renew this for season 6???

I'm really starting to love Peter Weller's character. He's a fun character to have on the show and you can tell Weller is having a blast playing him. I am hoping that he ends up on Dexter's table at the end, maybe Quinn gets sick of him and tells Dexter about him or something.

Preview for Episode 9, Teenage Wasteland :

I wonder if it's Quinn & RoboCop!:awesome:

One of them could be Deb...looked like long hair and her lanky frame in the shadow.

Yeah I think it's Deb - but I reckon they are trying to surprise Dexter or something and the scene will have been taken out of context.

An interesting theory I found on an image board to remain unnamed :awesome:

There are rumors spreading since last weekend's episode that Jordan Chase may have murdered Rita, and not Trinity. Take it as you will, however, I do find it to be a very interesting theory (even if a little far fetched, but hey, I would've never seen any of the other twists in this show coming, so you never know)
Anyways, here are some of the leading "clues" that support these theories.
1. Rita's death didn't match Trinity's other kills. For one, it broke his cycle. Trinity also usually used towels to make sure no blood seeped out into the bathroom. The way in which Harisson was found is very similar to how Dexter was found as a child, possibly meaning that whomever did kill Rita knew quite a bit about Dexter's past (it may just be a coincidence, but you never know)
2. Jordan Chase shows not only an odd interest in Dexter, but also in Trinity (as he confessed). He followed the Trinity case closely, and it's possible that he admired him for his work (enough to carry out a murder in a similar fashion, as part of his "take it now" philosophy). Also, there was an exchange of looks between Chase and his head of security as Dexter exited the room after their meeting. Dexter doesn't come off as suspicious or dangerous, so why the exchange of looks?
3. It may be possible that Chase has some relationship to Trinity. Some say that Trinity may be one of the men in the picture. Others say that he may have taught Chase and his serial killer friends how to kill. It may even be possible that Chase is a blood relative to Trinity.
4. The vial of blood shown in last weekend's preview for the new episode may be filled with Rita's blood, sort of a trophy like Dexter's blood slides.
5. Chase knew the name of Dexter's son. Suspicious, but it could be possible that it was mentioned in the news after Rita's death (which Chase followed closely)

That would be freaking terrible and would take away a great deal of what made season 4 so great.

Plus it was Dexter that found his way into Chase's life, not the other way around. So what would be his end game in killing Rita?

It's great seeing LaGuerta return to her old *****y self from the earlier seasons.

I hate that she threw Deb under the bus though. Not cool but very realistic within the fabric of this show.

That small storyline has suddenly made Laguerta and Batista interesting again.

The creative team does listen to the fans! (Or that was the plan all along).

Chase knew about Dex before dex did, and he knows his sons name, kind of odd, I think its foreshadowing. Plus the fact that trinity did break his cycle.

How do we know Chase knew Dexter before Dexter knew him? He seemed like he'd never met him when he first appeared in the police station (but did recall Masuka).

Interesting pointers. If the vial does contain Rita's blood, then all hell is gonna break loose...
