Dexter

It's a mixed bag. Some people are loving it, others not so much. I think it's one of the most inconsistent seasons, personally.

It had an interesting setup during the first few episodes, enjoy Mos Def's character. But so far nothing has really paid off, which is what makes it disappointing.

So far, I'm loving S6. It's a lot more entertaining than the dull S5, and it's building towards Deb finding out Dexter's secret, which is awesome.

They did last year too. And did a much better job IMO. Last years finale would of been the perfect time to do it since she approved of the people taking things into their own hands. Would of been a great moment if she pulled the plastic down to discover it was Dexter and Lumen.

If they don't have her find out this season I will be pissed.

Hey all,

Haven't been able to watch Season 6 of Dexter as I don't have Showtime, which is killing me. Just wondering how everyone is liking Season 6? Maybe on a scale of 1-10? Is it better than Season 5? Where does it rank among Dexter so far?

That's too bad. Whatever you do, do not, I repeat not, send me a PM asking for alternative ways to watch this show. I definitely, positively will not be able to help you at all.

It's worthy of a watch. Some episodes have been great, some others (like this last one) are not that good. I think it's taking an interesting direction when it comes to Dexter's and Deb's relationship, but I couldn't care less what's been happening with the Travis storyline.

I think this season is more about setting up Dexter's belief in a higher power, and his belief that he truly can change if he wants to. Of course, we've seen this theme before, but i think s6 is meant to be Dexter's transition into normalcy, which is what he's always wanted. Of course i could be totally wrong and the writers could be just treading water until they let loose in s8.

I doubt Dexter will really ever become 'normal' this is who he is and he has to live with it.

I think he has accepted the fact that he won't ever be "normal" even before the series started.

I've enjoyed this season as much as I have all the others. :) This show never gets tired, at least not for me.

It's a strange one as the show seems to be largely spinning its wheels but apparently, the last two episodes build to the endgame of the entire series:huh:

I honestly couldn't recommend this season though. It's been entertaining, sorta, if you turn off your brain and can buy how stupid and out of character some of the characters act this season. But it has been the worst written (voiceovers are truly becoming a problem), predictable season yet with the worst villains by some margin. And there have been some truly horrendous episodes, episode 9 particularly which is easily the show's worst.

So yeah, weakest season and I'd give it about a 4 or 5 so far. The last two episodes, gamechanger or not, aren't going to change my opinion. As you can see though, plenty of people are enjoying it so good for them and you probably will too. I just think after the amazing first four seasons and particularly the advent of Breaking Bad, Dexter is looking a little long in the tooth.

Rant over:o

From what I've heard, the actual episode is pretty meh. The finale might be better, though.

I have liked this season even with people guessing the big reveal.

Deb is going to find out about Dexter, however, because she is betrayed by the system and because of the love she bares for him, she is going to protect him and maybe even join him.

I know it's a stretch but I already see some of the ground work they are laying with the therapist.

Also, I think the nerdy computer guy is going to be gunning to become Dexter's disciple. He is going to figure out who Dexter is and will try to blackmail him into training him as a killer. Ala Mr. Brooks.

I can see Deb accepting Dexter because she wouldn't be able to turn him in but I don't see her ever joining him.

I cannot even see her accepting it maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan MAN! Come down 2 earth y'all! Deb letting a killer lose? Jeez! Wake up people! Even if itz her brotha' Bhro's!

She has the "notion" of RIGHT and WRONG and she will never allow a killer on the lose even if its in da family

This is probably my least favorite season, so far. Dexters kill table has been pretty much vacant all season long, and every supposed revelation has been telegraphed a mile away by every fan of the show..... i give it a 6.

The Louis subplot is way more interesting to me than the main plot. That dude is hiding something, but I have no idea what.

I think he could possibly become next season big bad, unless Dexter figures out that he is not what he seems to be before seasons end.

Didn't that what you people said about the Nanny in season 5? Why can't Louis be just another (lucky) lab geek?
And don't tell my it just because of the nature of his video game, please...

I think it would become cliche-ic if every new character on this show turns out to be either a lunatic or a killer! But at least the nanny wasn't, like everyone raved about, with Louis on the other hand, there is definetly something wrong: he has that hand, he is obsessed with Dexter and he made a video game where the player can be a serial killer! That is a bit suspicious.

That's how I felt about Season 5, so I'm guessing Season 6 won't do anything to change my mind. Seasons 1-4 of Dexter were pretty amazing and, with Breaking Bad absolutely dominating and spoiling us in terms of quality, it's hard to accept anything less than amazing IMO.

Right now Walter is an immensely more edgy character than Dexter is. The episode with Brian was the first time in a while that his character had some of that malicious and sadistic edge to him that he did in earlier seasons but they backed away from that quickly.

Pretty much. I hate how the writers are always having him at odds with his dark passenger and the code when it would be a much better show if he just embraced them. A lot of people seem to enjoy watching Dexter become more of a human being though so maybe I'm in the minority.

After season 5 anything would have been better but I really liked the first half of this season. I haven't let Breaking Bad ruin other shows for me because it's in a league of its own but Dex has been pretty weak. I hope they stop playing the stories so safe since they're gearing up for a series finale but I have my doubts.
