Wow, tiny week. Can't stand that they're ALL $4 though. Oh well. The main one I'm excited about is the final to War of Kings! Warriors should be a good tie-in. And I'm only going along with Cap: Reborn issue by issue due to the importance of it. I picked up the first issue on a whim and I'm glad this one's on a slow week. Hopefully it'll stay that way so it won't be much of a problem. I figure I'll skim the Marvels Project first before buying. It looks good though so I'll probably buy it.

Quite a big week, with six Marvel comics that are $4. Granted, Image's DYNAMO 5 has a rather notorious habit of Diamond announcing it is shipping two weeks in a row, and it actually ships the later week. So I am holding my breath on this actually showing up on August 5th. Do note that the 8 month late GEMINI #4 claimed that D5 #25 would ship in September, which will be impossible unless two issues of this ship that month.

We also have WAR OF KINGS wrapping up as REBORN continues with it's mega story. Considering CAPTAIN AMERICA #600 sold at #2 in June 2009 with over 119,000 copies sold (with a $4.99 cover price, mind you), I would imagine REBORN #1's numbers will probably be similar. It does make me wonder, though, if sales would still have been gang-buster had they kept the REBORN story in CAPTAIN AMERICA, as it really is a CA story anyway. WAR OF KINGS #4 has remained over 43k, so overall this space event has been selling quite well. It should finish in the Top 50, better than the ongoing space books. The decision to include the Inhumans as well as some spare X-Men along with promotion paid off. I don't remember if CONQUEST sold this well overall. GHOST RIDERS finishes off Aaron's run on GR at $4 a pop, should be good. And of course curious about MARVELS PROJECT. Quite a week.

Hulk turned into Incredible Hercules....Iron Man turned into War Machine, who then in turn got his own series, while Iron Man continued in his new series...and, I'm sure Captain America will turn into Bucky or whatever he'll end up calling himself, and Cap will start over as a #1 or visa versa.

Hmm. That's actually not a bad theory. The question will be what title Brubaker will write and which title will tank when he doesn't? I would imagine Steve's book, relaunched with a #1 and with Brubaker likely writing it, would be the sales winner and likely sell at what CA has usually been selling, 65k and up a month after a spike. The question is who writes Bucky's book, and whether anyone (by "anyone" I mean the silent majority of comic readers) would give a damn about him if he is no longer Captain America, the one and only. I am betting on...no. They'll see him like U.S. Agent and respond in kind. I have utterly no faith in a world where both Captain America and Barnes having separate books selling well. Not a world where AGENTS OF ATLAS has to fight for it's life every month. Not a world where CAPTAIN BRITAIN AND MI-13 can't even make it a year and a half. Not a world where IRON FIST was hardly selling gang-busters even with Brubaker co-writing (it's peak was maybe 37k).

But you may be dead on with this one. If Marvel thinks they can sell two Cap books, they certainly will try.
