Superman Returns Did Lex's plan make sense to anyone?

The wigs were only used as disguises or to look formal and like a 'good guy'.....since the bald Lex is pretty representitive of his evil self. He wore the wig as part of the deception to come off as a reformed man to Mrs Vanderworth.

The Dog eating dog thing was hilarious, the audience laughed bigtime....but that had nothing to do with Lex though.

There were no Otis characters and Lex definately came off as entertaining to the audience on a whole in the 2 times Ive seen in and the 8 times that Boyscout has....

Not to mention in my bootleg download of the film, you can hear all the audience laughs and clapping.

im still not sure how luthor was able access Kryptonian knowledge from supermans fotress, which you would think would only be accesible to superman or a kryptonian. 2 why didn't Luthor use this technology [which he someow understands] to build himself up, hell start his own business become the most "powerful man in Metropolis" like he was in the 90s comics/Bryne years. Superman could not touch him if he was a legit business man, which might be the most ingenuis thing form the Bryne era comics.

He wanted world domination first. To get his stronghold and cripple his enemies......

Than he'll have the technology to use for protection (as he stated).

And he was able to access it as he knew how to operate the Crystals...in the same way Kal-El did. The knowlegde in the crystals and Jor-El is just a computer program, and he pretty much learned the trick to bring it to life.

The fortress is supposedly well hidden though, only he was intelligent and resourceful enough to find it.

if you say so, it osundsl ike a bunch of improbbale events. A earth man understanding alien technology of a race of beings thousands of years aheads of ours. they really needed a way for luthor to be a threat to superman, but the plan is the most outlandish thing ive ever heard.

He understood it well enough in the first film. He found the Fortress and discovered Kryptonite. Dont underestimate his intelligence.

Dont forget that Supes was raised as an Earthman too...but all Jor-El's crystals were made to teach him what he needed to know....

Lex can learn the same stuff....or did.

what a minute you say the plot in Superman does not make any sense but the plot in spider-man 1 & 2 you praise???? what ever

What about Batman Begins? If the device is designed to evaporate all the water....what about all the humans in the Narrows?

The body is mainly water....they should all be DEAD.

You are truely pathetic. Take economics. If the US was destroyed, and the rest of the world dealt a serious blow from some kind of catasrophic disaster...there would be NO ECONOMY. Look what happened after 9/11, it sent a ripples of economic change through out the world...and that was just two towers falling. If Lex's plan came to full frutation, the world would literally be back in the dark ages. Governments would fall apart, countries and states would no longer exist. This is the FIRST thing that I thought about when the plan was explained...shouldn't a criminal with a mind as great as Lex Luthor have forseen this kind of outcome? Who are you kidding Kane? Anybody with a sliver of intelligence would agree with me on this. The Lex Luthor I know would have taken that technology and tried to make money in a viable way, through his company and be selling new technologies to the government as weapons. Give me a break, Kane...this is really pathetic.

If the United States falls.......all the other countries in the world would immediately fall down to nothing also?

I'm not an economics major but I know that money = power

By reducing the majority of the world down to nothing, bringing them to their knees.....Luthor is pretty much in a position of power. He could begin his own economy if he wanted since New Krypton would be the most powerful nation in existance...with all the others having crumbled.

The world still has resources that he could control and he'll be in a position where hes the one who controls people and countries.

Honestly how many other movies have had villians who want to destroy the US? Plenty. Ive seen it all the time.

Hes basically bringing the world down to nothing and rebuilding the world or economy in his own way....with him in control.

Money means nothing when you have nothing to show for it. If you destory an economy your money is not worth anything.

But you missed my point? Whats the point of money...at its very core; power.

By destroying the existing economies or at least weakening them and bringing all the countries of the world to their knees with New Krypton is the technologically superior nation and world power.....the new economy would basically work towards NK.

As other countries start to fall apart and weaken, Luthor would basically have the entire world labouring for him and his economy.

One way or the other, it puts him in a strong position.

Its an extreme and sadistical plot, yes... but this is a Lex whos tired of waiting, who wants to take extreme actions right away while he has the chance....as he may not get another window of opportunity to pull this off.

Hes pretty much the equivalent of a dictator with a nuke missile at his disposal. By destroying half of the USA with ease, hes also sending a powerful message to other countries to either follow him or face the kind of dangerous power he has access to.

I guess its the chicken and the egg scenario, but Power comes first...and then money.

Power leads to countries labouring at your will and the resources achieved going towards you....which leads to money.

Not at all. The point is to take out America so the rich are forced to purchace land on NK.

But as Stewie said, by destroying America, he more or less destroys the world wide economy. Money would no longer have a value.

So lets say his plan succeeds. Him and three lackeys will control a continent? Whats to stop the survivors who aren't hurt by Kryptonite from kicking his ass and taking over?

please remember guys/gals what Lex asked Jor-El in the FOS. He wanted to know everything and thats what he got so he knew how to fight off any army that came his way

That is the most ridiculous, contrieved thing I have ever heard. If thats the case, in the next movie he will kick Superman's ass without kryptonite, because he knows a way.

What do you mean?

Lois posed that same question. She implied the other powers of the world wouldnt let him get away with this...

He said 'he had advanaced alien technology' then they showed a closeup of Jor-El's FOS crystals of Kryptonian knowledge.

i said fight off any army not superman

All I know is those Kryptonian crystals have more power than we imagined. With Jor-El teaching Lex how to unleash their power......thats very dangerous.

Im worried about the fact that like 6 of them fell into the water at the end of SR......I think whatever threat Supes will face for the sequel with tie to them.

Of course Lex would have forseen that and it would be exactly what he wanted. He would control the only technology on the planet, Krypton's technology which is absolutely independant from earth technology. With this at his disposal he could have reshaped mankind at his wim, it would have made him what Superman was in his eyes, a god.

The Crystals are able to grow into any shape or form, into houses, fortresses and weaponery (just look at the recent Up Up and Away arc in the comics). Lex would have had the ultimate power at his disposal because he could dictate who gets what and when and if some people don't want to submit to him, bad for them if they are starved half to dead the'll come crawling on their knees begging for him to help them, all it takes is a little patience.
