I have written more than 300 posts in the DC films board, discussing a dozen known superheroes all through the year. And written a number in Marvel's board too
Started several threads.
I think I could be a candidate for superhero poster of the year.
See, when you break it down though, those 300 posts in the general Dc boards only equal to about 1 post a day since you started, and the general DC/Marvel boards don't get that much traffic compared to the specialty boards.
I don't go over to those boards myself much, they get less traffic because those boards are more about speculation, whereas the specialist superhero boards are all about movies that are in various stages of production.
Basically, you don't post enough, and don't post in the most popular sections of the forum, in order to even register in people's memories.
Even if you posted the most erudite and insightful posts in the world, people's memories will still drift to the posters they read several times a day, every day, and vote for them because they seem to be trying to participate in the boards more.
Best newbie is about a combination of how well people think you have ingratiated yourself into the forum, in terms of level of participation, enthusiasm and friendliness, I don't even think the insights in your posts count for much on that one, although they will with some more discerning posters.
'Superhero poster of the year' is an entirely different matter, the fact that you think you should be up for sh poster of the year tells me that either you have not been over on the other specialty boards much, or you really think your posts are something else, because relatively speaking, you have not posted much.
I have posted more than you on superhero movies this year, and have been involved in some good debates and held my own, and I didn't think for a second I'd even get one nom for sh poster of the year, never mind being actually up for it.
There are people on here who put a great deal of time and work into their superhero posts, and have done so for many years on these boards. Your posts are a drop in the ocean compared to theirs.
and speaking in general...You gotta look at it like politics, why do you think politicians are desperate for money for advertising, and to get the best advertisers working for them? Because that will get you more votes than actually doing anything worthy. So the more you post, the more chance you will get nominated, in some cases, because people are more likely to vote for their friends than someone they don't like, doesn't matter what they actually type in their posts.
That is just the way of the world.
edit: and just one more thing man, I don't know if it's such a good idea to use that font you are using, you may want your posts to stand out, but what that font actually does is make your posts more difficult to read, the 'print' is really faint, and that is especially not good on a bright electronic screen.
All you have to do to make your posts stand out is to type up good posts, you are not doing yourself any favours with that font imo.
If people need to strain their eyes to read your posts, then they might get a headache, and could just ignore them next time.
