The Right Blogosphere seems to have a hard on for Paul Ryan. In fact I think they like him more than Mitt Romney. I guess he is better than Sarah Palin.

He is conservative without being in your face about it(basically he won't make outlandhish statements that make him look bad to moderates). He is the guy you pick if you want to rally the troops

Sarah Palin is unelectable. Not that she would run anyway.

Really, it will depend on how Obama does in his second term.

Romney should just pick someone boring. Not Pawlenty (didn't have the foresight to stay in race), just someone inoffensive, boring, boring, competent and boring enough. Being exciting is a one way trip to controversy.

I don't think that the GOP will want to tie Paul Ryan to a another man's possibly losing ticket as I do think that they have plans for him in the future. He is one of their rising stars. They won't let him jeopardize his career in such a manner. Then again, there must be a reason that he isn't running for Kohl's senate seat.

The fact that Ryan sorta excites anything makes him unqualified. We are looking for Kerry Boring... on steroids. Boring like Mitt Romney / What's that white guy's name 2012 boring boring.

Christie will turn off southern republicans because they feel like this is a Northeast Ticket and McDonnell screwed himself by not vetoing the vaginal ultrasound bill until there was a huge backlash.

Doesn't matter because it's not like the South is going to vote for Obama. Low turnout in the South isn't going to hurt Romney. While he did win Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida, Obama did horrible in the South. In Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, Obama got less than 40% of the vote. And he was still trounced in the rest of the South.

As for McDonnell, while he may have annoyed some pro-lifers out there. He overall helped himself tremendously by vetoing the vaginal ultrasound bill. Overall, McDonnell is still very pro-life. And he still has solid conservative credentials while not alienating moderate independents which the vaginal ultrasound bill would have done.

He has since renounced his thesis. And it's a shame that the Democrats overplayed their hand in 2009 with the thesis (to the point where people where groaning when Deeds brought it up) because it could have been a good weapon for the Democrats to use.

He still wants to pass an ultrasound bill, just not the vaginal one now. it doesn't really speak well of a person no matter which side of the abortion debate you are on when you want to shame females into taking a procedure they don't have to do just out of spite.

The Dems are really playing up the War on Women and guys like McDonnell would fit that narrative well.

As for Christie I think having another "moderate" on the ticket will hurt with the base.

The Democrats are totally going to overplay the War on Women angle. It's so blatantly manufactured that I just don't see it lasting all that long until people start groaning.

This is going to come down to the economy, plain and simple.

When a governor see no problem passing a senseless bill out of spite that to me is the pure definition of "extreme". The Ultrasound bill only purpose is to try shame people into not getting abortions, and levies an extra charge on them to boot. Aren't the Republicans supposed to be the party of getting Government out of people's business?

It's the same deal with life begins at conception laws they try to pass. When you go so far to any extreme there is a point you will even turn off people who agree with the original issue. Hell a very conservative state like Mississippi rejected the proposal like 55-45 percent. it should be noted Virginia has this on there to do list as well.

The Democrats are totally going to overplay the War on Women angle. It's so blatantly manufactured that I just don't see it lasting all that long until people start groaning.

In some cases I agree but when you see stuff like ultrasound bills or Walker(in Wisconsin) taking away woman equal pay laws and people on the Republican side sitting and twindling their thumbs not commenting, it speaks volumes. I know the things I mentioned are state laws but if you add a guy who is responsible for one of those laws what does it say about him?

I think the biggest problem for Republicans in the War on Women is that a few Republicans like Rick Santorum were dumb enough to fall for the bait dangled and dragged a bunch of people down with them.

Don't forget Rush Limbaugh. I personally think alot of Republicans look bad for not speaking up. They easily could have came out about Birth Control and say hey I think it should be covered for medical purposes if needed, I am for that but not recreational use. Then they come out looking at least logical about it, but the way they talked about it made it seem like they had 0 clue of other uses of birth control. if they had problems for forcing companies to cover it then at least explain it beyond "why should I pay for somebody else to have sex"

I also thinking coming out and attacking Planned Parenthood will lose then a few votes.

As I said McDonnell in his time as Virginia Governor has gotten his hands dirty trying to pass some extreme bills that seem to be attacking women, that I think it makes him getting picked a huge negative.
