Not if you read the comments here. Some come off like they want the ending of BP to be reshot with the FF showing up to help. :)

Some folks need to just breathe out and chill! Pretending that there is no red tape and that we’re fling to see the effects of this in a matter of months is silly.

The deal is real. It's just got to go through these steps to finish.

There will be some immediate effects. Yes this does need to go through regulatory oversight, but Fox will start transitioning right away. This is what companies do when these deals get made, they have to be ready and running when the actual transition occurs, so they will decide on department restructuring, personnel and business unit alignment. They have to identify areas where there is redundancy, and unfortunately people will be identified for layoffs, severance agreements will be made, etc.

All of those things take time, so yes this is going to take a while to finalize, but it's not like these companies are going to sit around for the next 6-12 months twiddling their thumbs. Re-orgs will surely happen right away.

Those don't include side deal on the X-men and Fantastic Four rights.

That doesn't equal FF or Mutants in films or even post cred scenes in the immediate future. If for nothing else than Fox is releasing three other Mutant films. You don't want to confuse the audience. Plus there are casting calls, directors to talk to, fitting these characters into what the next big MCU arc post Thanos is... So it's gonna be awhile before these MCU versions show up.

Fox and Marvel can start collaborating like Sony is doing right now if they want to, right?
Nope. I would hypothesize, they might not be legally allowed to do that because they are in the process of buying the company.

The ending of BP? Wut. It's like people think Disney just bought the rights to Marvel characters to use in the MCU and a couple of other movies like Avatar 2 which will be made in the future. They bought a whole freaking studio for crying out loud. Disney expects the regulatory review of the acquisition to take as long as 18 months. So don't expect anything in 2017, 2018 or Q1/2 2019 at all. Plus, Fox is actually still releasing 3 Marvel movies and their TV-series next year. That hasn't changed.

That's my fear as well, that we have to endure those sh***y Fox-Men films for another couple of years until they are finally free to go

Between Legion Season 2, Dark Phoenix, Deadpool 2, New Mutants and Gambit there will at least be five more Fox Marvel projects. And who knows which of the other ones might still be greenlit, yeah.

Yeah they aren't cancelling any of the 2018 X-Men films.

Don’t forget Franco’s Multiple Man.

If they greenlight another movie, it seems to be the best candidate is Gambit since the most work has been done on it already and they already have Channing Tatum tentatively attached to it.

People need to realize that the merger won't be completed until 2019 at the latest meaning that legally Disney can't use Fox's properties until that's done. Just look at the recent AT&T/Time Warner deal that was done last October. The merger was suppose to be completed by November but the DOJ sued AT&T over anti trust laws last minute which pushed the merger back to Spring 2018. A lot of legal work has to be done before the X-Men ever hit the big screen in the MCU. I'll say it'll happen in 2020/2021, maybe even later

Lol all these people saying that it won't happen till later that X-MEN can join MCU. SO WHAT!? These same ppl probably said it would never happen before. 5 years wouldn't be a long wait to get rid of FOXMEN a year or two is nothing.

The point is more to get people's expectations in check. It seems people essentially expect the Fantastic Four and X-Men to show up in MCU properties starting today. Plus, those five years or so should be more than enough time for people to realize that there are a whole lot of downsides to this deal as well outside of the Marvel characters.

I wouldn't expect any big announcements until after the government review and deal are done in 2019. If it gets done by then, I wouldn't really expect anything from the Fox properties to show up until like late 2019 or early 2020.

I never said this wouldn't happen. I said all the rights will go back to Marvel/Disney eventually. It will just take time.

It's a matter of they can't legally touch the character rights until regulation oversight is over.

It's not going to benefit them if the sale gets blocked.

You always were negative about the possibility of Disney/Marvel regaining the rights to the characters licensed to Fox, so it's no surprise that you're clinging to hope for an eleventh-hour disaster. :ebr: :sigh:
