Sorry, but anyone who compares Elsa with Satan has absolutely no understanding of Elsa's character and her motivations in the movie. It's an idiotic analogy.

yep.

Weekend actuals are up, Frozen increased slightly with actuals, about 79k.

i really like the songs that were cut from the movie :D finally got around to listening to them, "Life's too short" was great

This movie really brings out my inner child. I haven't bought a figure from a movie since Star Wars (original run), but I'm seriously considering buying these figures, and I have absolutely no interest in the Disney Infinity game.

Life's Too Short sounded a bit......."busy."

like too much stuff going on, both lyric wise and melody wise.

I'm sure they would have had to revise it and trim it if they had kept the song in.

Has anyone listened to the song "Love Can't Be Denied" which Alan Menken wrote when he was attached to the project?

I would have preferred some kind of "ballad" song in the final film.

maybe in the Broadway version...........

and with some tweaks, the lyrics and meaning of that song could easily have been applied to Elsa and Anna.

Even had "Try to run and hide" and "Try to slam the door" in it.

Love can't be denied
Love must have its way
Once it gets inside
Love is there to stay
Once you let your heart awaken
Love can't be denied

Try to run and hide
Try to slam the door
Love can't be denied
Love keeps wanting more
Love won't let itself be shaken
No matter how I've tried

It flows through my veins
It burns beneath my skin
It calls my name
And says, "You fool! Give in!"

Tear inside the doubt
Cast away your pride
Love can't be kept out
Love can't be denied
Let yourself be overtaken
And swept before the tide

Love's the only thing
No one is above
I can love
That love can't be denied

Saw this today and I really loved it. Elsa was absolutely wonderful and "Let it go" might be one of the best Disney songs I've ever heard.

The story was simple but the themes and execution was deep and strong. Fantastic voice acting all around and the songs are ridiculously contagious. The sister dynamic was done quite well too.

10/10

I really hope that Idina Menzel/Frozen wins the Oscar for Best Original song. I've played it countless times since I've watched this movie.

I hope Idina gets to sing it at the Academy Awards. She starts a new Broadway production but has already been given permission to take a leave to perform if asked.
Considering how dull so many recent Academy Awards shows have been the last few years, they would be crazy not to have the nominated songs performed live. I guarantee nobody changes the channel during Let It Go.:woot:

They would be idiots to pass up something like that. They need to have her perform that song. Not to mention that they just need to give the award to her too. :argh:

Not a single song from any other film has this level of passion and raw emotion this year.

Idina's version is just so good. It's been crushing the Demi Lovato version on youtube.

The Demi version was uploaded Nov. 1 and was well past 20 million views before the Idina Version was uploaded 5 weeks later on Dec. 6. Since than Idina has not only made up the 20 mil Demi was ahead, but passed her by 5 million views and is pulling ahead by over a million more each day now.

View counts now

Idina 60 million

Demi 55 million

well, the Idina version is the real version........and it's better.......:o

although I do like some of the lyric changes in the Demi version.

Demi Lovato's version isn't bad (a big part of that has to do with the song just being well written) but Menzel's is on a whole other level in terms of execution.

I get goosebumps and butterflies in my stomach for goodness sake when I listen to Menzel's version. Every time.

oh, no question.

I really hope Let It go wins the Oscar. I'll be really pissed if it doesn't, since it lost the Golden Globes.

but I'll be even more pissed if Frozen doesn't get the Oscar for best animated film!!

What's really interesting is the Idina version's views are accelerating, yesterday was the first day it hit 2 million views. Usually there are a ton of views early on and then the count starts decreasing, but just like the movie the song has amazing staying power.

I saw Frozen after the Golden Globes...and I cannot figure out how that U2 song won instead of Let It Go. And I'm a huge U2 fan.

I'm so happy for Idina. I first saw her on Broadway in Rent in 1997, and I saw her in Wicked as well. She's awesome. I'm so excited she has a big hit song now.

well, Frozen was my 1st introduction to Idina!!

She really was incredible. All the way from her singing to her acting.

Same here and what an introduction it was.

I really think having Elsa sing a sad reprise of Snowman at the end, when she's holding Anna's frozen body, would have been so emotional and heartwrenching at the end.

would have shown off Elsa/Idina's more tender side.

and the more I listen to Menken's Love Can't Be Denied, the more I really like it.

I know Menken left the project, but the melody is lovely and the lyrics, with a few tweaks, could have applied to Elsa's and Anna's situation.

I could see a scene midway (after Elsa blasts Anna and drives her away ) , where Elsa's on her Ice balcony, regretting that she drove her sister off. She realizes how much she loves and misses her, and she starts singing Love Can't Be Denied.

then the song transitions to Anna, who's traveling with Kristoff to see the trolls, and she's thinking how she failed to get through to Elsa.

so the song would have been a ballad duet.

I really hope they add a similar song when they do the Broadway version. a tender ballad between the sisters would really add to the story, I think.
